    Memorable
Joana was the most amazing tour guide. We stopped at 8 places (6 tacos, 1 churro, and a tequila drink to finish the night. She provided so much insight and local knowledge at each stop. It was well worth the money for the experience.

Miel was a fantastic host and the tacos were great. I’d recommend going at the beginning of your trip so you have some awesome taco shops to go to the rest of the time you’re in town!

A Truly Fun Way to Explore Puerto Vallarta!
We have taken many of the Vallarta Food Tours and have always been amazed at the quality of the tours and the quality of the guides. Homero was no exception! He first made sure that our bikes were working properly and then took us for an extraordinary tour of the city, stopping to tell us about the areas and the food we would be eating. He continually made sure that we were doing well and had enough water. This was an incredibly fun tour and we will certainly do it again!

    Must do taco your!!
The tacos were amazing! Eric was an awesome tour guide! I loved that we got to visit two different neighborhoods and try tacos from people who have been running their businesses since the 70’s and 80’s. It felt like we got a true experience that dove into the culture of tacos. 10/10 recommend!

    Great Way to Experience Sayulita
We took the Sayulita Food Tour and it was great! Bernardo was a fun, knowledgeable, guide and took us to various taco restaurants. First, Sayulita is a beautiful seaside town with many shops and restaurants. Bernardo took us to the Kahlo restaurant where we both had the best taco we have ever eaten. We have taken many food tours through Vallarta Food Tours and we have always been extremely impressed!

    Great Tour!
We recently took a vacation to Puerto Vallarta with our family group of nine that included several kids who are actually young adults! When looking to find something to do off of the resort we found the tacos and tequila tour. We did not book this tour through our resort. We did it ahead of time online which was super easy. It is a quick taxi ride downtown or if you're coming from the Hard Rock like we were, you can take a water taxi from the marina which added to the fun. This tour took us into some of the back streets and some of the best places that locals visit to enjoy a drink and eat. We got to sample eight different tacos from different restaurants and taco stands throughout the city. We learned how many of the agave drinks were made. We sampled a variety of drinks that included tequila, mezcal, and raicilla. Our tour guy Luis was knowledgeable and very entertaining. Here is a tip, please wear comfortable clothes and shoes that allow you to walk on cobblestone streets. You will be walking a lot!

This tour was a fun, safe, and delicious way to get to know Peurto Vallarta. We highly recommend booking it.

Our guide, Christian, was informative and friendly. I especially appreciated his kindness toward the LGBTQ+ community we were touring through. He was open to questions about the area, the food, and the people. The caramel chocolate at the end was my favourite along with the cold hibiscus tea given to us at an earlier stop. My husbands favourite was the carnitas tacos.

It didn't really seem like a lot of walking. We didn't stray far from the Malecon boardwalk and the pier but each street felt like we were somewhere new. It's easy to get turned around so it was great to have a guide with us for our first time in the city. Our tour had 8 people (6 Americans and us from Vancouver, BC)

Each stop had unbelievably delicious food. We tried some things we eat a lot of back home as well as some totally new dishes we would never have had the opportunity to try.

Next time we're in Puerto Vallarta, we will book the nighttime tour to see something different. We recommend booking this type of tour that's earlier in the day than spending the afternoon and evening in the city checking out the churches, boardwalk, pier, etc.

We easily picked up an Uber from our hotel front doors in Nuevo Vallarta and it took us ~35min and ~450 pesos (not including tip). It's a safe way to get around because payment happens all on the app (and doesn't change) and you can check your driver to the photo and license plate number.

Remember your tour guide and the stops along the way will graciously accept tips and they all deserve them so bring along extra pesos. We also purchased items along the way like hot sauce, chocolates, coffee, and vanilla. Some accepted visa and some only cash.

Book this tour for a fun getaway from sitting around the resort!

Right after we had unpacked the night before, we signed up for the Downtown Tour through our concierge for the very next day. There were 8 stops out of 12, a great walking tour, delicious food and a few drinks. We were even given a handy map so that we could retrace our steps. We loved several of the taco stops so much that we took our kids and grandkids back to a few of them later in the week. Amanda did a fantastic job of personalizing the tour, sharing her own story, the history of PV and her love for the people and food we were experiencing. I can honestly say that we would never have stopped at some of the places we visited. While some of the street taco or beverage stops do not look like much especially because they aren't right on the Malecon, don't be fearful. We found the food is fresh, delicious, safe and truly unique. In fact, at the Cunundo stand we went to a fews days later, because of the tour, we ordered just 15 street tacos for our family of 17. Not enough because my 6 year old grandson ate five and my 7 year old granddaughter ate four. All together we had 35 tacos! Thanks for sharing this amazing experience with us. Great job Amanda and company.

This is a highlight of any vacation. It's not that you can't do a ton of internet work yourself to find some of the places that tours like these go to; it's that this one comes with a wonderful guide (we had Amanda) who tells you interesting things and answers questions, who is friendly with the vendors, and who really makes you feel her pride in her city. Even more importantly, the vast majority of us tourists would never go to most of these places out of anxiety over food safety or because we judge a book by its cover. Finally, there are SO many places to eat in PV; this tour has vetted places and chooses the best or most interesting.

So here are a few tips from our experience: The gazebo meeting place is easy to find. It's in the middle of the park and offers shade if you arrive early. The benches all around are dirty, because it's a city, so if you want to sit and like wearing light pants, be aware. The tour itself is not meant to be senior or mobility challenged unfriendly, but the streets of PV are by their nature hard for wheelchairs and walkers. No vanity shoes! Comfortable footwear only, because there is a lot of uneven pavement.

The tour provides bottled water, but you should bring your own bottle for the rest of your stay in PV if you care about the environment. Tip your guide (US dollars ok!) but you don't need to tip the vendors individually, as the company does that as part of their deal with them. If you want to tip the vendors, that's no problem either.

We took this tour to get a range of food, but if you love tacos more than anything, try the after dark tours; be aware that many taco places (and churros!) don't open in PV until around 7. We still were able to try several kinds of tacos on the day tour. If you can't eat or don't want to eat something at one stop, no problem. You can have as much food as you want at any of the stops, so you can double up somewhere else. Also, the guide will order you something else if possible at the place and if you request it. Do know that the average person will be full if they only have one serving at each stop.

You get a map and addresses and a list of places you go with the tour, so it's easy to go back to a place that you particularly liked. But some street vendors are not open every day. Ok, enjoy! Just do it. You'll leave happy.

My wife and I took the tour last November, and we're still talking about it. Our tour guide, Amanda, took us to at least half a dozen locations, all in the same general vicinity. At each stop Amanda would give us a little history of the restaurant or bar whose food and drink we were enjoying. The food was amazing and plentiful. And the drinks were just as good, and plentiful. Amanda has lived in PV her entire life, so she was able to share some insider facts that you wouldn't normally hear about.

The tour ended at a restaurant on the beach. It was sunset, so we were able to relax with margarita in hand while the sun slowly disappeared. My wife and I were on a cruise, so Amanda got us a cab to insure that we would return to the ship on time.

As an aside, we had planned the tour on a previous cruise, but we both came down with something on the ship, so we were unable to make it. Paul, the owner of the PV Food Tour, was kind enough to allow us to take the tour the next time we came to PV.

Take the tour, but be sure to come hungry and thirsty.

Great tour. Miel was great about answering questions, making sure that everyone in the group was taken care of and any food adversions were accommodated for. The walking tour is a very easy pace and you get to see a variety of places while walking if you haven’t ventured out in the city yet. Highly recommend not filling up at each place because there are 6 different stops for tacos/tostada/enchiladas plus a couple of stops for drinks. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the ground can be uneven.
Each place that you stop is owned by a local family and the tour guide is great about telling you about the family. If you are interested in seeing your food prepared, a couple of places had open kitchens, which personally was a highlight of the trip.
Also included are some coupons for several different restaurants in the downtown area.
It seemed as though both foodies and non foodies alike enjoyed the tour.

My husband and I booked a food tour with Miel during our recent stay in Puerto Vallarta. We had a fantastic time. It was our first time in PV and we wanted a fun way to explore the downtown area. Due to COVID, we essentially got a private tour for the cost of a regular one and it was well worth it! I loved getting to explore the city on foot, especially to help burn off some of those calories. Miel was an amazing guide. She shared a lot of great history of the area and took us to some of the best spots to eat. It was a fun way to spend the day so I highly recommend it. Just remember to come hungry!

I've been to Puerto Vallarta 3 times before, yet hadn't discovered these amazing restaurants and taco stands before.

Our guide, Miel, was very knowledgable about the history of the traditional dishes and of each restaurant. Sharing with humor and charm. By the end of the tour our group of strangers were laughing like family.

Every stop was incredible, with such variety. The included map means we'll be able to enjoy them again.

I highly recommend both as an orientation walk around the center and Romantic Zone. And as an introduction to the delicious foods of Perro Vallarta.

We are so glad we did this tour in the limited time we had in Puerto Vallarta. We were on a Mexican cruise, only had a few hours off the ship and we chose this tour. It was fantastic. Our tour guide Miel, was tremendous, and helped to immerse us in the sights, sounds and tastes of Old Town Puerto Vallarta. The variety and quality of the food was amazing and Miel added so much with her knowledge of the food, its preparation, and much other information about Mexico and Puerto Vallarta. She answered all the questions with enthusiasm and charm.
If you have an appetite and love Mexican foods, this tour is well worth the time and cost. One thing we would do differently if we went again, would be to skip the option of buying two beers in addition to the food tour. There is so much food, and the beer just filled us up too much.

My boyfriend and I had a great time on this tour with Giovanni! It was just the two of us with him, so the private tour made for a really great experience! We were greeted warmly with hand sanitizer and water bottles. The amount of walking is totally doable and it's so fun to see the ins and outs of Puerto Vallarta.

THE FOOD IS SO GOOD! We loved everything we tried, but the first tacos we ate had Asada and chorizo with onions and incredible salsas... they have really stayed with us. There was also a stuffed pepper taco with tempura-battered fish .... WOW

There are 9 spots total, so you definitely get to try a lot. Including tacos, we stopped at an Agua Fresca stand that had delicious sweet waters, another stand with traditional Tuba drink, and also a chocolate factory. We finished with incredible flan & tequila.

I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys good food, likes to see a more cultural side of a city, and wants an intimate experience!

We love to take food tours when we first arrive in a new city to get the 'lay of the land' and to find great places to eat so we can revisit them. Chris was a great guide who showed us where to find the most delicious food the locals eat. We tried different foods we would have missed if we set off on our own. A week later and my mouth is still watering. Yum!
