Husband and I had a great time on this food tour. We booked it while traveling on a cruise and travel to the meeting location from the port was easy via taxi. Our guide, Joana, was very personable, taking time to get to know each of us in the group. She was also quite knowledgeable of her city and its culture and telling us about the process of how the food is prepared and a bit of history behind each vendor. We visited so many locations and all of the food was delicious and plenty. We thought they would be appetizer sized tastings but to our surprise were full sizes. Highly recommend Vallarta Food tours. We enjoyed it so much we would like to take one of their other tours when we find ourselves in lovely Puerto Vallarta.

The food tour was one of my favorite experiences during our visit to Puerto Vallarta! Joana y Silvia were our Tourguides and they were warm, fun, friendly, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the history of PV and how it relates to the local foods 😊
We made 9 different stops on the walking tour which was a great opportunity to see the city and learn about the culture, history, etc.
Joana and Sylvia learned everyone’s names and dietary restrictions right away, and found an alternative dish for folks with dietary restrictions at each stop.
If you like food, people, and learning about the places you visit, I’d highly recommend Puerto Vallarta Food Tours 🥳

Great tour. Miel was great about answering questions, making sure that everyone in the group was taken care of and any food adversions were accommodated for. The walking tour is a very easy pace and you get to see a variety of places while walking if you haven’t ventured out in the city yet. Highly recommend not filling up at each place because there are 6 different stops for tacos/tostada/enchiladas plus a couple of stops for drinks. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes as the ground can be uneven.
Each place that you stop is owned by a local family and the tour guide is great about telling you about the family. If you are interested in seeing your food prepared, a couple of places had open kitchens, which personally was a highlight of the trip.
Also included are some coupons for several different restaurants in the downtown area.
It seemed as though both foodies and non foodies alike enjoyed the tour.

Please note this review applies to two different tours (original downtown tour and seafood lovers tour) and is posted under both.
I don't make a habit of writing reviews for much of anything but felt compelled to recommend this activity. My only regret is that we did not take these tours earlier in the trip. It opened our eyes to the tremendous foods that you can get very affordably on the streets of PVR or in small restaurants off the beaten path outside the touristic areas. Every taco stand we visited we probably would not have visited on our own (being somewhat timid tourists and not sure which stands we could trust). When we were thirsty we endulged in aqua fresca or tuba which were also excellent. The "downtown" tour was led by "Al" (real name too hard for most of us to pronounce) who was clearly educated in both the food world as well as local/Mexican history. We enjoyed this tour so much we booked a second tour ("seafood lovers") which was even better. Outstanding seafood-stuffed chile tacos, ceviche, and more. Our guide (Manuel) was excellent, a chef himself who teaches culinary and clearly has a passion for the art. He explained some of the international influences on Mexican foods and how they were adapted locally, as well as walked us through a fresh food market. All in all, a great way to learn about food, culture, and to stretch your tastebuds a bid and explore wonderful new tastes. You also get to know here the best food is served so you can visit the same taco stands and restaurants later (hence my suggesting you take in these tours early in your trip). Highly recommend!

This is only our 2nd food tour. Traditionally we find one place and enjoy. This time we were traveling with friends that invited us on this adventure. What a delightful way to learn about new places to eat. We were greeted by our wonderful guide Miel at the gazebo in Lazaro Cardenas Park in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta. Miel was so passionate about her country and was able to give us a down to earth personal food experience. She also gave us advanced warning if we didn’t want to get too full after all of our stops (6+) to maybe not eat all the tortillas even though So delicious. I also like that they shared a map of the places we would visit and even some we would not. Great for future reference! I highly recommend this tour.

two other friends and I did this for our first day in downtown Puerto Vallarta. We started our day, as was suggested with a coffee from A Page in the Sun, then walked around the park admiring the mosaics while waiting for the entire tour group to show up. The tour group size was a little large, but our guide Silvia was fantastic. great knowledge about the city and history and food. she kept spirits high and answered all our inane questions with an open heart. she was great.

It was super useful to do this our first day, since we got oriented within the town, and Silvia offered great suggestions for other bars and restaurants. the guide map provide listed many places we did not got to, but presumably the day of the week, time of day, and other factors dictate which ones from the list we visited. it was about 8 stops and a far bit of walking and general sightseeing.

we tasted chilaquiles, cafe de olla, a carne asada/chorizo taco, agua frescas, mole, a poblano/seafood taco, seafood tostadas, tacos birria, ice cream, cervezas and margaritas. ( we opted for the alcohol option)

I'd completely recommend this experience.

I can’t say enough about Miel and the amazing tour she guided us through; the restaurants and food stands’ selections were gems in a city that has some many options. I have been visiting Vallarta all my life and Miel showed us around places I have never even heard of, her knowledge of the area and its history kept us fully engaged as we walked through the busy streets of Vallarta. The walk was the best way to explore and sample such wonderful dishes!
I recommend taking one of these tours as soon as you land in Vallarta, that way you can have an idea of what places you would like to return to and also have an idea of the areas of interest.

This experience was absolutely wonderful! I could not speak more highly of it! The food was absolutely delicious. To add, Alcibiades (Al) was wonderful, professional, informative, and attentive. He even kept a close eye and made sure we were comfortable when it was hot outside (he gave us cold washcloths he had packed away)! I would definitely do this tour again and highly recommend it to anyone and everyone looking to eat some tacos, try new foods, and learn more about the culture in Puerto Vallarta.

We arrived in Puerto Vallarta on a cruise ship and believe it or not, we chose a food tour!! We made our reservations before hand, thanks to the recommendations of some Cruise Critic members. We decided to try the public bus to get downtown, which was interesting to say the least. The bus stop was right outside the terminal and we looked for a bus that read Centro. It was only 10 pesos ea, but it was crowded and we were unsure when to get off. We did get off too early, but we had an extra 2 hours before our tour to find the meeting location and ended up being able to walk along the Zona Romantica and see the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe. We finally found the gazebo in Lazaro Cardenas Park and met our guide, Addie, who had cold bottled water waiting for us and gave us the rundown of all that we would be doing. There was a good deal of walking and Addie was always careful to keep us together and point out rough places in the street and sidewalks to avoid falls and sprains. We ate a taco at many stops, including beef, pork, seafood and goat; and again, Addie was great at giving us the history of the stands/families, checking to see if we had any food allergies or aversions and pointing out all of the different options for sauces, salsas and other toppings. We stopped at a bakery with amazing smells; a chocolate factory with choice of any chocolate from the counter (excluding strawberries) and a few drink stands, sampling tuba and agua fresca. Our last stop was at a nicer sit down restaurant with restrooms and experienced 3 tastings including a dark and a green mole and tequila (with lime juice and tomato juice). Everything was amazing and we were beyond stuffed!! All of the food and drinks were included in the tour price, just bring a little extra for a tip for your guide, especially if they do as good a job as Addie did for us. She took us out to the street at the end and helped us flag down a taxi and negotiate the price with the driver (180 pesos), since we only had a little less than an hour to our all aboard time on the ship. An amazing day and experience!

Our guide, Sylvia, made the tour exceptional. Coping with a holiday weekend, she managed to maintain a perfect balance of walking, eating, and drinking (with special care to accommodate any dietary restrictions amongst the ten of us). Her "history chats" were interesting and adapted to the interests and questions of the group. The history about the city itself was light and interesting, but her information on the background of each taco stand/restaurant and the families that run them made the stops much more rewarding. Sylvia's excellent rapport with each of the owners was obvious. Thank you for a delicious and informative tour!
