Itinerary
- 1Going to their hotels we head for approximately 10 minutes to reach the tangolunda ranch where they will be given an explanation about the handling of the ATVs. Later we will enter a dirt road inside the jungle aboard an ATV, on the way we will observe the type of vegetation characteristic of the coast. We continue with the adventure until we reach a river called Copalita, where you will have the opportunity to swim and admire the landscape and then return to the ranch where you will have the option to eat (does not include food)
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Discover7919720 contributionsFun tour in beautiful Oaxacan natureWe did the rafting as a family with two children (10 and 12 years old). The river is not very wild at this time of year (January), as it doesn't rain much, but we were able to enjoy the beautiful nature. There are a few short places where you have to row along, but it is not dangerous at all. Jonathan was a very good, competent guide and we had a great time with him. The driver was also very nice and they picked us up at the hotel and brought us back at the end. We would repeat the tour on our next stay in Huatulco and could hence highly recommend it.Written January 12, 2023
- Cecile A0 contributionsRancho Tangolunda ExperienceThe guides at Rancho Tangolunda were awesome! They made sure that we were prepared and ready to ride. They were gracious and did a well job to answer all of our questions, even though our Spanish was limited. They were amusing and so much fun to tour with. We had a great time.Written July 21, 2021
- WorldTravelsTandJ0 contributionsDid the ATV tour. Not exactly what we were hoping for. VERY disappointing. Too expensive for 20-30 minutes of driving. After paying $200+ for the two of us to do a promised 3 hour ATV excursion it was VERY average , POOR. Worst one we have ever had in Mexico out of at least 10 of these. BORING. What's the new word these days MEH! sums it up. My wife was extremely disillusioned. I guess the 3 hours driving they suggest you get is for transfer time where they pick you up and drop you and other people off at their resorts, etc because we might have spent maybe 1 hour actually driving and could both easily have completed their very sub par , uninteresting and unchallenging circuit in 30 minutes or less. We had two novices with us who came from another resort so for half the trip the speed was brutally slow. Instead of recognizing our familiarity with the equipment and taking us on our own we had to slog along even after finally saying something a few times. Painful. Only when we separated after the river did we finally actually get to do a bit of driving at a reasonable clip. We were back to the ranch within 15 minutes from the halfway point and nothing further offered as far as going a bit longer or another loop to compensate for almost walking the first half of the trip. Instead we got to wait another 20 minutes until the other couple finally showed up so we could leave. Wow. If the entire trip is done by experienced drivers, minus the stop at the river you could be done in 20 minutes to 1/2 an hour tops. Beyond the river not one thing stood out for us on this day. The trail length and choice of route and the speed we did this ATV " Adventure" sucked. Most of the trail is pretty rocky and for an area surrounded by beaches you are not driving there either. Copalita River is very nice and refreshing but again just idle time, not driving. You don't follow the river up, that is the turn around point. The ATV's themselves are well maintained ( likely a result of the actual limited use they have had) and easy to drive but my complaint lies that for $200 I could have rented 2 ATV's in Tangolunda near Don Porfino and seen a lot more of the beauty Huatulco offers, at the speed we set, dune hopped at the beach, still seen the river( which was the highlight on this trip, when it should have been the driving) and feel like we got value for our money. This trip was not value, far from it. Then to top it off you can get pictures for an additional $500 pesos of your mediocre/poor experience and you even have to pay for water or beer afterward. Perhaps these guys think they are in Cancun or Cabo where people need to pay that much more but then they get more for it as well? Jair did his best but had to concern himself with the novices and Ivan only offered to separate us away from them to a more acceptable speed only once he got the pictures he needed to gouge a little more out of us. Very overpriced for Huatulco and had we actually gone into the hills further, or down to the beach, maybe been given a bit more time to compensate for a waste of half the trip or on something beside the service road they use for their whitewater rafting tours I might have felt it was a better experience. I can drive the speed we did on this ATV trip at home, it's called rush hour and it sure doesn't cost me $200 for that. Really disappointing , would NOT do this again and likely as a result would not do anything else they offer if this was an example of what to expect. Check out the rentals we saw in Tangolunda or check in town and tour the bays on your own, do some dune hopping on the many beaches and get an experience for what you are paying for. - Mike D0 contributionsIndiana ExperienceRancho Tangolunda Cascadas Las Brisas ATV Water Fall Tour Early Dec 2018 If you want adventure in the Jungle This is the one ! Its a whole day operating a ATV through trails ,heavy mountain dirt roads through villages, cliffs and the waterfall itself (this part was a short hiking tour on foot) The waterfall is not just unique its a spectacular ,natural wonder to see, walking crawling through a cave in behind the water fall is so cool ,and unbelievable , beyond words to tell The home made authentic Mexican food served right at the water falls was a taste that we could not describe, Steak , Chicken Mola refried Beans , all cooked in a wood burning stove / grill This adventure was the real thing ! Highly recommend if you want a ATV adventure into the mountains with spectacular sites and a gorgeous waterfall I also would recommend to those people that love to cook and eat food from different places Ivan was our Guide My wife and I doubled on a Honda 450 size ATV ,This is an epic tour right out of a chapter of a jungle adventure We loved it Google or Search on the Internet Cascadas Las Brisas Waterfall for more Details Rancho Tangolunda also offer a few other tours , another one we took was a ATV (dry River bed trails) River Rafting tour as well which we did a week earlier and really enjoyed the river rafting and ATV (it was a lite trail riding experience through river beds and back trails about one and half hours) , the river rafting was about two hours, you will get a little wet . One recommendation on any these tours SRAY yourself with insect repel-ant !!! My wife and I were really impressed at how hard working good group of people they are at Rancho Tangolunda Wish them all the luck, we will be back with our friends and family Our Hat goes off to them ! THANK YOU for a wonderful adventure Ivan and your familyWritten December 13, 2018
- Mauri c0 contributionsDont miss this excursion while in HuatulcoRancho Tangolunda is a family owned excursion company that offers great quad and river rafting tours in Huatulco. We purchased a combo quad motorcycle and white water rafting excursion. We were picked up in front of Barcelo Hotel and driven to the Ranch about 20 minutes away. The staff is friendly and polite, they greeted us ans immediately gave us training and instructions on operating the quads. The quad guide took us on a beautiful and fun trail through the amaizing Oaxacan jungle. Dont forget to apply plenty of sunscreen and mosquito repellent, the ride up mountain trails is fun and an easy ride. Very family friendly with lots to see. After about and hour we arrived at the river were our rafting guide and a very nice raft were waiting for us. This is a level 2 ride so it's extremely fun and exciting for the whole family. You will see incredible vegetation, iguanas, deer, eagles nest and fresh water nutrias. Our guide was very informative and told us some great stories about the jungle. Dont miss this while in Huatulco.Written June 25, 2018
- Melissa W0 contributionsATV, rafting and zip liningMy group of 8 went on February 13 and everyone was so accommodating and fun. The ATVs and rafting were amazing...water was calm and our guide we knowledgeable about the environment and gave us history on the area. The zip lining was definitely a rush...we will be back again! Thanks for everything!!Written February 17, 2018
- ootie60 contributionsQuading raftingWe went quading and rafting with Ivan. He was an amazing tour guide. Him and his family were super helpful and kind. He takes photos of the trip. Highly recommendedWritten February 17, 2018
- mum2kai0 contributionsExcursion w/ ATV and RaftingOur family of three did the ATVing and rafting excursion with Rancho Tangolunda. We enjoyed the ATVing and loved the rafting. The river was low (mid-March) so it was a peaceful, quiet journey down the river. Our guide on the raft was awesome and very friendly, shared a lot of information about the area and got to know us. Also, our teen son was able to cliff jump at two spots on the river - a highlight for him!Written August 13, 2017
- TravelBear830 contributionsRipped OffWe did an ATV/Rafting/Zip-Line excursion, which was good, but we paid 300 pesos for our photos that were supposed to be emailed to us and a month later and we still have nothing, after several attempts to contact the company. Very disappointing!Written May 9, 2017
- Death270 contributionslevel 1 raftingAt this time of the year only level one rafting was available. So we decided to try it... It was most boring tour I ever had in my life lol))) Slow, nothing to see around - boring sceneries, boring everything)))) Do not recomend level one rafting to anybody)))Written April 28, 2016
- trabiu0 contributionsZip-liningThis was a great activity. I loved how they made sure you were securely fastened in your safety clothing. They also made sure that you clearly understood the instruction prior to allowing you to go down the zip-line. While they made sure that the activity was safe and enjoying the rest-room was not necessarily hygienic. Within this facility there was no toilet paper, nothing to flush the waste down, and there was also no seat on top of the toilet. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for something exciting to do!Written April 2, 2016
- travelspy13040 contributionsnot worth the moneyfirst off we went horse back riding and the guides do not say much so pretty boring ride. they do not let you ride in the water on the beach which was disappointing. the ranch is dirty and the bathrooms have no toilet seats or running water to wash. the animals look sick and skinny, the horses are small so anyone tall or bigger will not feel comfortable on the horses. the next day we wanted to zip line and they made us wait around for hours until they told us that they had no time for us due to the group ahead of us. just seemed pooly organized. we were going to eat lunch there just to support the ranch but i'm pretty sure that the 2 dogs running around had fleas cause they were itching like crazy and they smelled really bad. so needless to say we left. we will not use the ranches services again.Written February 11, 2016
- chichi10 contributionsFloat trip with IvanDid a float trip with another couple with Ivan. Was so much fun. Ivan was a great tour guide, had us laughing all the time. The scenery is so beautiful, was a nice relaxing trip down the river. Would highly recommend it.Written November 18, 2015
- Zelnins0 contributionsRafting level 3 - great fun!Trip cist 700 pesos per person, including pickup and drop off @ hotel. It took us about an hour to get there, road wasn't bad, 15-20 min preparation for rafting: life vests, helmets, safety instructions etc. They provide dry bag, so you can take some stuff with you, I didn't know that, so I left my iPhone in the hotel (no lifeproof nuud for iPhone 6 yet available in Canada), long story short - no pictures. Other people had GoPro, so they got pics and video, maybe they will post review with pics here. Our captain Chris was very knowledgeable and safe. Couple of times some people fell over while going through fast rapids but he was able to organize and safely pull them back. Overall experience was great and recommended for people who wants to get out from all inclusive resorts.Written December 17, 2014

My wife and our friend did the tour and had a great time. They did the 1/2 day tour and found it to be the perfect length and the pictures that were taken by the staff were awesome! This is a tour worth taking when in Huatulco

Excellent tour all-round spent 2-3 hours riding the ATVs on off-road and on-road to and from the beautiful waterfalls located near the resort. Ivan and Edwardo were fantastic throughout the experience. They picked us up from the resort and brought us to the authentic Ranch where we were equipped with the necessary safety gear and ATVs. We then drove to the Waterfalls for the tour and swimming. Ivan literally climbed a mountain for us to ensure we got great pictures. After the swim we went to the local eatery for some great bbq'd Mexican meat dishes with black beans wraps cooked by the locals there. We were then brought to the local village for some shopping and then brought safely back to the resort. Fantastic adventure all-round, well worth our time, would reccomend it. Barry & Karina
