About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- alisondD6291SE0 contributionsDon’t go without a guide!Alberto was an excellent guide, full of information about the historical site and the local flora and fauna. We probably learned 100 times more by going with him, than we would have by visiting the site without a guide.Written December 1, 2024
- Voyage137145005150 contributionsPersonal guided boat tour of the Huatulco coastHighly recommended we avoided the crowds our skipper Adolph was fantastic as was the manager Roberto . Clear communication and were able to have the beach swimming for ourselves before others arrived . Splash out it’s worth the price for sureWritten November 19, 2024
- Dream5204170 contributionsCopalita Pyramids Archaeological TourWe toured the Copalita Pyramids Archaeological site with Alberto. WOW, what a great tour. Alberto is very knowledgeable on the archaeological site and he kept us interested throughout the entire tour. He even brought mini samples of items that he would tell us about so that we could get a visual of the things he was describing. I think we went over the 3 hours the tour called for because it was so interesting to us and we kept asking questions. At the end of the tour we asked him to drop us off in La Crucecita so we could have lunch and he recommended a very nice restaurant to us which was right across from the Mercado. I highly recommend this archaeological tour with Alberto!Written November 13, 2024
- Dream5204170 contributionsHuatulco City TourWe thoroughly enjoyed our Huatulco City private tour with Javier. He drove us around and showed us all of the scenic spots. He took us to see the lighthouse, Playa La Entrega and we got to see the famous wood carving of "Barbanegra". The highlight of the day was when he took us to a Mezcal tasting bar. We were able to taste several flavors of Mezcal as well as authentic hot chocolate. I was NOT brave enough to eat the "Chapulines" (grasshoppers). He also took us to see a factory store where workers use textile weaving machines to make beautiful tapestries and carpets. Interesting that the colors that are used are derived from different plants. We also saw the church in La Crececita where there is a mural painted on the ceiling of the Virgin Mary. We ended the tour by having lunch at a great spot that Javier recommended to us and we invited him to have lunch with us. What a wonderful day we had. Javier is a great tour guide!Written November 13, 2024
- dorothy h0 contributionsAuthentic and AmazingAmazing, was a great tour! Our guide Antonio was professional, engaging, intelligent, insightful. Also very respectful of local culture and traditions. This was the very best introduction for us--all of our questions were answered thoughtfully and without prejudice. We wanted an authentic experience, and this tour hit it in all the right places for us.Written November 6, 2024
- debreque0 contributionsExperience the beauty of The Huatulco coast by boat.We had a fabulous day on the water. We did a bit of snorkeling- lots of swimming. It would have been nice to see a bit more sea life but I suppose that depends on what is happening in the ocean at the time.Written November 5, 2024
- D5598JImr0 contributionsAwesome trips around HuatulcoWe booked two tours with Homietours - the 3 Levels of Huatulco and the Waterfalls. Both tours were amazing (the landscapes and the coffee - just wonderful) - our guide Javier was very knowledgable about the region and took so much time for us! We enjoyed both trips a lot and can only recommend to book a tour with this operator. We hope to come back again soon and do another tour with them.Written July 16, 2024
- susanhX7286QJ0 contributionsGreat snorkel experience! My sister and I did the private snorkeling tour around the bays of Huatulco when our HOLLAND AMERICA cruise ship docked for the day in Huatulco. Homie Tours was very well organized. We were met on time at the end of the pier with our name on a sign, fitted with good quality snorkeling gear and on the small clean boat (with life jackets) straight away! There were cold beverages provided for us, too. Horatio, our captain and snorkel guide, was fantastic. He was very accommodating to our requests throughout the afternoon. It was a lovely day! And no problem being back on the ship on time! (We are seniors and the trip is easy!).Written April 23, 2024
- Y181HPkathryna0 contributionsA Great Day in The Stunning Mountains with EDGAR E.Edgar was an amazing guide. He was casual, friendly and an open book. We enjoyed his down-to-earth approach and willingness to take his time. He was especially careful on the winding mountain roads. His driving skills are impeccable-- probably the best driver we have ever been in a car with in a foreign country. The mountain village and coffee growing plantation were absolutely beautiful and unique. It definitely felt like we were going beyond the typical tourist hub and getting to see a stunning side of Mexico that most tourists never get to see. Also, the day was nicely paced. We left around 9am right from our rented condo, picked up another couple, had a driving tour of the town of Santa Maria Huatolco, started up the winding mountain road, stopped at a coffee plantation/peaceful oasis-like mini-resort with a museum-type space, walked around surveying and learning about local fauna and coffee plants, relaxed in hammocks overlooking the vast mountain ranges, ate a simple, freshly prepared lunch, then drove a few mins further into a tiny mountaintop village to taste and purchase coffee beans and see an old church, and were delivered back to our rented condo around 3pm. Our guide offered to stop at a Mezcal factory where we could see how if it made but nobody in our group desired to make another stop. It was a generous option though. Overall, we highly recommend Edgar and this tour!! You won't regret taking a day to go "off the beaten path"!Written March 27, 2024
- walksrocco0 contributionsNice overview tour!It was a decent tour. Raciel took us to many beauty spots and lookouts around Crucita and the marina area. He was a good tour guide. We went to two businesses in the town. One was a tourist shop that sold souvenirs and mescal. We were offered different mole sauces, corn chips, dried grasshoppers, and sample the mescal and/or hot chocolate. We were there too long, in my opinion. Then we went to another, higher level tourist shop which was, for me, much more interesting. We were shown a demonstration of the process of making the beautiful hand woven rugs of the region. She explained the use of the insect cochineal in making dye for the wool. Real works of art! Then, we were directed to walk around the town plaza square and meet him on the other side in approx 20 minutes. This also very interesting and felt safe. I wish we had spent more time at the plaza, but we did have time to visit the church briefly, but Mass was going on, so not possible to learn about the church at that time. Overall, it was a good tour and the van was very nice and air conditioned.Written March 5, 2024
- alisondD6291SE0 contributionsSee where shade grown, bird friendly coffee comes from!Javier was our guide. There were five guests, two Spanish speakers and three English speakers. Javier did a good job providing the information in both languages. He picked us up on time and we set off for Santa Maria Huatulco where we visited a beautiful church and a municipal building with a large mural depicting the history of the region. Then it was time to begin the trip up into the mountains to reach Pluma Hidalgo. The road was damaged in recent years by a hurricane and resulting landslide, and is currently under repair. Javier was a careful driver and his van was up to the challenge of the steep and winding road. We reached Pluma which is a picturesque town of about 5000 people. Tuk-tuks were everywhere! Just on the edge of town was the hillside coffee plantation owned and operated by Pablo and his family. Pablo is a young man with impeccable English, and he and Javier walked us through the plantation and taught us the life cycle of the coffee plant. Then it was time to visit Pablo’s home/cafe where we tasted their coffee and enjoyed delicious snacks made right then and there by his mother. It was a very relaxing visit, with lots of time to enjoy the conversation and refreshments, and purchase ground or whole bean coffee to take home. We then piled back into the van and Javier took us back down the mountain and back to our hotel by late afternoon.Written March 1, 2024
- robl1580 contributionsSnorkeling so so rest of boat tour was greatDid the 7 bays tour. You snorkel at one spot for what was supposed to be and hour and a half but after about 40 minutes I found it dragging on as there was the same fish at the resort we were at. The rest of the tour was really good as the captain tried to find aquatic animals to see on route. He more than succeeded as we encountered dolphins first. We then spotted sea turtles which we got up and close to but not to close and got some great pictures. We then got radiod there was whales spotted so we headed in that direction. We got the pleasure of seeing a humpback and her baby and we stayed back a good distance but close enough to see them and got the famous tail flip coming out of the water. After seeing the whales we spotted a stingray that had actually jumped in the air and back into the ocean. Never got a picture as you would of had to have the camera going already to catch it. Was quite the site to see though. Lots of smaller black tunas breaking the surface as well. Went for a shore lunch. Was on the expensive side but overall worth it just for the experience. The guide we had was pretty funny and very knowledgeable. Was fun to be on the boat with. Lots of beer or other drinks if you wanted any. Overall great trip and they try very hard to find things to show you. This trip they managed to do just that.Written February 27, 2024
- Climber8222420 contributionsFantastic tour: local history, sights and coffee!Fantastic day with our guide, Javier. It ended up being a private tour in his very comfortable and clean vehicle. He added local stops to provide us more history of the region, giving us more context to appreciate this beautiful area. And the coffee plantation he chose to show us was excellent: local, friendly and meaningful! Pablo and his family gave us a tour of their plantation, made us a local lunch and furnished us with us a coffee tasting - very smooth and delicious. Overall fabulous way to spend a day and I recommend Javier and Pablo to anyone who wants to spend some time with them!Written February 15, 2024
- V2116XNcindyb0 contributionsWonderful snorkelingThe snorkeling was amazing. We saw a wide variety of colorful fish and coral . The best snorkeling of our trip!. Our guide, Javier, was knowledgeable and very helpful both on land and in the water. The walk through the jungle was very interesting with vines over our heads. I would definitely do this trip again!!!!!Written February 10, 2024

We took the ‘original’ Three Levels Tour with Alberto. Our tour started in Huatulco overlooking the Santa Cruz Marina. Alberto has a photo of what the area looked like many decades ago. He explained the development of tourism in Huatulco with knowledge & great pride. For our second level we drove up to Santa Maria Huatulco, the municipal seat of the area...a piece of old Mexico. Being Valentine’s Day, the flower vendors were filled with beautiful & colourful displays. We visited the Municipal Office with its historic murals. I had the opportunity to see the Mayor’s office & step out on the balcony where the Mayor addresses his people! The market in Santa Maria Huatulco is worth a visit. The vendors are friendly & not pushy. I bought a few Mexican dresses there. We then headed up on our third level of the tour, driving up the mountain to Pluma Hidalgo in Alberto’s comfortable & air conditioned van. Our first stop was the botanical garden that Alberto is in the process of developing. He’s growing vanilla, ginger and many varieties of tropical plants indigenous to the area. Alberto, with a background in Biology, is very knowledgable about the plants, and their medicinal properties. We then ventured to the village of Pluma Hidalgo and had the opportunity to sample coffee & mezcal at Pluma Diamanté. We stepped into Ave Maria, the village church. The interior is painted a vibrant blue with the most exquisite crystal chandelier! Before heading back down the mountain we stopped for lunch at Finca Don Gabriel for a delicious Oaxacan tasting platter. Wonderful food in a picture perfect setting. (Not included in the tour, but reasonably priced & a feast for the palate & the eyes!) Alberto is an attentive & knowledgable guide. He works really hard to ensure his guests enjoy their experience.

Hello from paradise
Incredible description of the tour, I couldn't have thought a better title (Three levels with a new twist) for the now reloaded genuine 3 levels tour, I promise from now on I will use your description any time a tourist ask me to explain the tour.
Thank you for your business, and thank you for taking the suggestion from Mr Clayton, He knows the kind of tourist you are , well traveled and knowledgeable, and on top of that many trips to Mexico and some of you 13 times in Huatulco. I just can say, I feel really complimented with your words. So long.
Thank you for using Homitours for different experiences.

We were a group of 6 people with an age range from early 20's--50's. We really enjoyed Alberto's thorough knowledge of regional history, Mexican history, biology, botany and all things related to coffee! His passion for his country and commitment to the betterment of the local community we visited in Pluma Hidalgo is very apparent and impressive. The tour was well paced with a good balance of information. Alberto knows his stuff - ask him anything! Thank you Alberto for the wonderful excursion. Loved learning about and smelling all the plants and herbs.

The Three Level Reloaded Tour was a highlight of our trip to Huatulco! We were looking for an excursion that would provide some insight into the area’s history and culture. The tour exceeded our expectations in every way. Our tour guide, Alberto, was friendly and knowledgeable tour and is immensely proud to show his guests around the region. At the first and second levels we learned about Huatulco’s growth and history while seeing spectacular sites. But the real gem of the tour is the third level where Alberto took us up into the mountains to see where coffee is grown. We arrived at an area only his tour has access to, where Alberto and locals had built steps down the side of the mountain and created a magical pathway they landscaped with native plants, herbs, vanilla, and more. The walkway leads to a platform with a stunning view of the mountains where coffee beans had been picked that morning and roasted in a pan over a wood fueled fire. We were served gourmet coffee while taking in the view. Then, we went to lunch at another mountain hideaway where authentic Oaxacan cuisine was served and the views again were spectacular. We are so appreciative of Alberto's efforts to make us feel welcomed and show us around!

We are in Huatulco, city of Oaxaca. We stayed at Secrets. Our first time in Huatulco. We decided to take one of the tours offered. We took what is called the 3 tier tour. This tour sounded real good and it did not disappoint. We booked a private tour and I am very happy we did. Alberto met us at the front door of our resort and took us through Huatulco to a look out point over the marina, beautiful. Level 2 was to a town by the name of Santa Maria Huatulco. Very old and charming. Level 3 was to a coffee planation in the mountains headed by a 58 year old woman who had incredible stamina. /i had a tough time making it up and down the hills there but she does it every day, all day. On the way back down the mountain we stopped at a cute open air restaurant that was worth the trip.
Great trip. Great guide and great food (extra$).

We booked the Pluma Hidalgo Coffee tour up in the mountains above Santa Maria de Huatulco. Along the way, Javier our tour guide stopped at scenic stops and we were able to take pictures of the city square in town. When we finally got to the plantation we were met by Don Pablo and he welcomed us and explained how his coffee is grown. He was very thorough and explained the process, step by step. My hubby even got to pick coffee beans off the plants and placed them in a basket that was wrapped around his waist. What an authentic experience. After the plantation tour, we drove back to Don Pablo's house where his wife made us a very delicious lunch and coffee. Definitely recommend taking this tour with Javier!

We had a great experience on the tour with Alberto, it was better than expected. We got lucky and had a private tour. The cooler weather was great as we drove up the mountain and the in between towns were very nice. We got an in depth tour of their plantation that grows coffee, vanilla and many herbs, among other things that I can't remember. We highly recommend this tour.

We spent THREE different days with Alberto and Hugo. The coffee plantation was beyond anything we could have ever imagined. Also, we received a private tour — just us and my parents. We became personally acquainted with them.
Sea Turtle Release was an unforgettable experience!
We loved the city tour and a few days later, instead of taking a taxi, I called Alberto and he sent Hugo to come get me! I had my own personal chauffeur for a couple of hours on a Friday evening. Very relaxing and personable experience that I’ll always remember.

If you have a chance to take this tour it is a MUST!!! Hugo took us out to see 3 of the most fantastic sites in Oaxaca. We had the greatest meal at Finca Don Gabriel, it was small hotel with the best restaurant and coffee museum. The highlight of the tour was driving up a goat trail of a road to 1000 ft above sea leave to a private coffee bean farm with most beautiful family that hand roasts the coffee in small batches The smells and tastes of the coffee was incredible!!! Did you know... the coffee there is unique because 1. their proximity to the ocean, perfect altitude and perfect sun shade combination. Thanks Hugo for the fantastic tour!

This was a wonderful tour which included a visit to a panoramic vista of Santa Cruz Bay, a visit to historic and charming Santa Maria Huatulco, and a fascinating and beautiful visit to a coffee plantation. The cool fresh airs and the views of the mountains and cloud forest were just beautiful and a refreshing break from the heat at sea level. There was an opportunity to try fresh coffee just ground, and a lunch I. The mountains. My guide Hugo was informative and knowledgeable, with very good English. I had some special needs due to some health issues and he was very accommodating. This tour was probably my favorite activities.

We went on the 3 levels of Huatulco tour (reloads) with Alberto and it was fantastic! Easily the highlight of our time in Huatulco. Getting to spend some time in the old town of Santa Maria Huatulco made my wife and I want to spend several days there exploring this town. Next we drove up into the Cloud Forest which was super impressive.
Alberto, a biologist by trade, was very informative and we learned about the flora and fauna of the Cloud Forest. Cloud Forests only make up about 1% of the wooded forests around the World. It was a beautiful and mountainous part of Mexico.
We arrived at Pluma Hidalgo and saw the locals and people around the area and did some coffee tasting.
Then, we went to Alberto's piece of land where he is developing a little piece of paradise with a vanilla plantation, interspersed with orchids and other plants.. We then walked down the side of the mountain and met an old lady who hand roasts coffee. We bought some coffee wrapped up in old coffee sacks and hand painted by her grand children. Delicious coffee!
I have bad knees and found the hike very doable and Alberto spoke about various things with stops along the walk making the hike easy. It was a cloudy day and the clouds swirled around us. It was beautiful and I highly recommend this tour if you are in Huatulco.
