        BEWARE FRAUD
BEWARE FRAUD A large amount of our money was stolen by the owner of the company. We forgot it in the hotel safe, he took it and never gave it back. CAUTION

        BERWARE SCAMMER!
BEWARE SCAMMERS! We forgot €1,800 in the safe at the hotel. The boss took it and gave it out. He stole it! He spent it for his private purposes and has not paid it back to this day. A liar and cheater. Book better with others.

        Fabulous Sri Lanka with children
This being our third trip to Sri Lanka we were hoping to have an experience we hadn’t had before. We used Aashik and Kingfisher to provide a driver and book all of our accommodation for 7 nights. From our first contact with Aashik he was more than accommodating, providing multiple options for hotels and if they didn’t suit he found alternatives. Anyone who has been to Sri Lanka knows that no trip goes 100% according to plan, but what makes the difference is how your tour operator handles the “speed bumps” which arise, Aashik addressed all of the challenges without fail and made sure we had a wonderful stay. He found us some absolutely stunning hotels in amazing locations. He was flexible with the itinerary and was on hand to offer advice when needed which is exactly what you need when you’re traveling with kids.

        Fabulous tour in Colombo!
We booked a van for 6 people and toured the sites and did some shopping as well. Our guide Khan was wonderful! He was charming, polite, friendly, and knowledgeable. He took us everywhere we wanted to go and stayed with us wherever we went to assist or answer any questions. The driver was great too. Whenever we came back to the van, he had already started it up so the a/c was flowing for our comfort. Khan's wife had just had a baby 12 hours earlier and he shared with us a photo of his beautiful little baby girl. He was a delight ,as was our entire day.

A scam about train tickets from Kandy to Ella!
I booked reserved seats train tickets from Kandy to Ella with this company a month before our trip!! (See photo below!!) The most important part of our trip for my husband. I got a confirmation email from Tripadvisor and near to the trip I downloaded the tickets to my wallet. We decided to check he night before with Kingfisher Tours if we needed paper tickets only to be told there were no tickets available. We emailed and then ended up calling them (which cost us more money! This kind of business is unacceptable. I had paid a whopping $90 for two tickets and if you buy them at the station they cost 300 rupees each for third class and 800 rupees for 2nd class . This is nonsense and a complete rip off. Do not book with Kingfisher Tours and end up being totally disappointed!! This is a scam!! I did eventually get my money back but that is no compensation or consolation when you are only here once and really want to do this train ride.

Not enough time to do it all
We arrived by cruise ship and this was a one day experience. We have done lots of trip advisor trips so we do have experience. The guide is the important link. Communication from the tour company is second. The communication from the tour company was pretty good but on the day we arrived, we didn't know where to meet the guide. We arrived in a working port. I called our guide and he said to take the shuttle bus to the port gate. That is not uncommon in a working port. It too dangerous to let tourists walk through the port. He was at gate one. The bus dropped us off at gate two. We had no control over any of this. I called our guide again and he said he would pick us up. It took him 15 mins to get there. Aashik then took us to our first stop. A jewelry store. I kept asking him the same question all day. Do we have enough time to do everything on the tour. His answer was always yes. I told him that the most important thing was to get us on the ship by 10:30 pm. He always said, "no problem". My wife liked the jewelry store and the owner made some great deals. I told Aashik that out of all of the things on the tour, the Elephant part can be dropped if time is an issue. We spent about an hour at the store. Next stop was a spice farm. We got the personal "speedy" tour with one of the reps. We also received some great back rubs with red oil. We made some purchases here also. Traffic was horrible the entire way. Driving in Sri Lanka takes a special talent. Our driving was in the passing lane often. 2 lane highway the entire time. We were in the car for hours.Obviously we skipped the included lunch. I don't even know where that would have taken place. We stopped at the Elephant place. I don't know why. We got out of the car and told the attendant that we had no interest. Other things to do. Back in the car. More driving. We were 8 miles from Sigiriya and it was already after 5 pm. We stopped for the ancient dinner experience. We boarded a cart pulled by an ox. About 20 mins down the road we boarded a hand paddled boat for a trip across a lake. We arrived at a little village where some women prepared us dinner. They demonstrated the ancient ways of preparing the food. The food was delicious. There was a charge for dinner. The tour company allowed us to pay less because we didn't get the lunch. Time was now an issue. Do we go to Sigiriya, the whole reason we took this tour, or we do we drive back to the port? We had 4 hours before the ship left. Sigiriya was 30 mins away with traffic. 2500 steps, up to the top. We needed 2 hours to do? Who knew this? We chose to go back to the port. Traffic is too unpredictable. Halfway back we got onto an expressway. What a relief. I am guessing that all of the other stops interfered with taking the expressway on the way there. We arrived back into the port at 8:45. Time to spare. I am glad we left when we did. If you choose this tour and are on a ship, realize the issue of time and traffic. It is unavoidable. Plan accordingly.

        Great overview
Had an amazing half day tour and our guide was phenomenal. We were on a cruise so he picked us up at the port gate which was great. We saw and did so many things, Buddhist and Hindu temples, mosques, tea, gems, government buildings, lotus tower, neighborhoods, shopping streets and beach. We tried almond tarts with our iced coffee break at the bottom of the tower (tasty but drier than cake we’re used to). Two of our group travel with walkers and poc’s and our guide made everything we did as easy as possible to accommodate us.

        Stunning views
Excellent experience but not for the lighthearted. Have to be reasonably fit to climb this. Although, you’d be surprised at how many infirm can manage it!! Beautiful views and definitely with a trip. Take lots of water. Locals will try for cash at every opportunity so have your wits about you.

Long but very nice Trainride. A little up and down with the tickets
A bit of a journey and overpriced but all worked out in the end! It was definetly good to buy tickets in advance because the area without reserved seats is sooo overcrowded! Even though we didn’t like the fact that all touroperaters are buying all reserved tickets and selling them for way more but sadly there seems to be no other chance to get seats. Apparently our Train was all sold out online but besides of us there were only 4 other people in our Part of the train. This whole ticket thing is really not well organized. Communication with the local Touroperater was okay and we picked up the tickets at a Hotel in Kandy, don’t get afraid if they tell you they don’t have any tickets there (happend to us). There is only one person in the hotel at a specific counter that knows about the tickets. Got 4 seats next to each other first class with A/C.

        Great private tour.
Kingfisher Tours did an excellent job. I came by cruise ship and had a private guided tour at a very reasonable price. They were right on time to pick me up at the port gate. It was a holiday so traffic was light. In about three hours we visited all the main sights including the temples. My driver and guide Aashik was very enthusiastic and took pictures of me at the different sites.
