- 1Sweeting's Cay is about 4 miles off the east side of Grand Bahama Island and the perfect spot to spend the day. Guests will be transported from the city of freeport through several villages to McClean's Town where guests will board a boat and off to Sweeting’s Cay. On your way to the cay, you will be able to see the unspoiled beauty of the surrounding cays. You will be given a briefing on the dos and don’ts of the area. During the 60 minutes of kayaking you would be kayaking through the creaks and mangroves were you can observe star fish, fish, jelly fish, conch, sting rays, you may even see sharks, eagle rays, and turtles, but don't worry, if you don't get to see the turtles while kayaking you will be able to see the turtles at Turtle Park, our second stop on this adventure. You will be able to see the turtles in their natural environment, darting their heads to see who is visiting them. Some will come close enough for you to take pictures of them in the lake surrounded by mangroves.

- karlf3480 contributionsUnique snorkel experienceVery cool and unique snorkeling experience! Great day snorkeling in shallow water. We saw many types of fish and plant life, huge starfish, and many stingrays. Low effort swimming as we just floated with the current. The guides were great and friendly. Stopped at a great lunch spot. Would have loved to have more time in the water. Overall, a great trip.Written March 4, 2025
- Departure504639828810 contributionsGreat adventureThis was a great adventure. Brice picked us up at the port terminal and drove us to east end of the island where we boarded the boat with Barry. We took an interesting ride through the island passages until we reached the blue hole. Great snorkeling around the hole and then proceeded with our drift. The species of underwater sea life was spectacular. Rays, Coral and fish galore. Well worth the price. The current was strong but Barry stayed right with us guiding from the boat. Once we were done we went to Sweetings Cay for turtles and lunch. Very fun day with great hosts.Written February 28, 2025
- Alan G0 contributions…and this guy can sing !We THOROUGHLY enjoyed ourselves with Brice and his family. This is a must do especially with this company 5 Stars plus … thanks for a memorable experience :)Written February 27, 2025
- D3101YMlindab0 contributionsLoads of funExcellent trip loved the drift snorkeling. Driver and family were great entertainment. Weather was perfect A must see when you are in Freeport. Driver picked us up at hotel and transported us to the boat.Written February 27, 2025
- kimbE9482AB0 contributionsThere's a lot to know before you go...KNOW BEFORE YOU GO - other than 45 minutes of drift snorkeling, our trip bore no resemblance to what is described in other reviews. We were supposed to be picked up at 8:45. It was 9:30. We were told the drive to the East End of the island was 45 minutes. It was an hour and a half. That was three hours in a vehicle for a five hour trip. The local taxi service, Brice's Taxi, is your transportation. It was a rickety taxi bus. No shocks and it shakes as you drive. Our driver must have been used to one way roads because he constantly drove along the center of the road and had to swerve to avoid oncoming cars. Not only was it a long ride, but it will feel like the longest of your life. All 13 passengers complained about being afraid. Once you get to the boat, it was a water taxi, not a pontoon. Getting in was a challenge in low tide for several passengers as was getting back in after snorkeling. No ladder, no steps. We never visited a blue hole. We had fun drift snorkeling for about 45 minutes. The turtle visit is a hike from a pier. Several passengers did not feel comfortable getting out of the boat because it would have been a climb up to the pier. Plus, no turtles. There was no meal included. Some guests purchased a meal from a restaurant by the turtle park, but it was a choice between chicken or fish with fries or rice and beans. While sitting in the water taxi waiting for the people who ordered a meal to eat, we were also advised that we each owed $25 per person for a water taxi fee. Why not fee inclusive? Why ask for cash near the end of the trip? At the price you charge, why did you need to ask for more? They must be used to complaints because Rika's response was to call her boss so he could confirm it. At the end of the trip, she offered his contact info in case we wanted to talk with him more. Friends, there are easier options that will leave you more time to enjoy Freeport. We should have been back by 2-2:30. We barely made it back to our cruise by 4:30 for our departure because the taxi driver mentioned above wanted to drop off fish to a lady friend on the way back. In short, snorkeling was great but the rest made it not worth it.Written February 8, 2025
- GoPlaces205883234170 contributionsAmazing snorkeling with no swimming. We met on a pontoon boat with about 10 of us to go snorkeling. It was about 40 minutes boat ride through the gorgeous turquoise waters. They took us up river to blue hole, let us out in about 2 feet of water. We floated down river and saw stingray, 50+ starfish, tons of coral, and shells. The deepest part was maybe 10 feet and you could dive down for a closeup. The boat picked us up at a gorgeous sandy beach at the opening of the waterway. I wish we could have spent the entire day just snorkeling and being on the beach and not have to go back to the cruise ship!Written February 3, 2025
- MarkSUPskiSail0 contributionsWonderful Experience with Brice and Shervin - Great GuidesBrice met us at our cruise ship, Dwayne drove us out to McLean's Town out at East End Grand Bahama where Brice in fishing boat and Shervin in his flat bottom skiff met us. We sped out for about 20-minutes over shallow, clear turquoise waters to uninhabited Lightbourne Cay where we entered a small slough and stopped at a blue hole. We donned snorkel gear and didn't even need flippers since the water was barely hip deep. The blue hole is remarkable (see photo) and had stingrays half buried in the sand. Then we drifted on the receding tide down the slough watching an endless variety of coral, crustaceans and fish drift by, 3-4 feet beneath us. The drift lasted about 45 to an hour and we went about 1/2 mile to finish at a sand spit where we walked around and then headed by boat to the village of Sweetings Cay where we tracked down the turtles in the sanctuary and had a nice lunch at the restaurant and chatted with the local conch fishing families. Back to our ship on time. Brice and Shervin are real pros and great guides. Yes, it's about 1:15 minutes out to this area but that effort is rewarded with pristine water and wildlife. Just do it!Written December 30, 2024
- lorilW2710IH0 contributionsFantastic East End Tour in Grand BahamasWe had an amazing trip to the East End of Grand Bahamas 🇧🇸 couple of days ago, drift snorkelling - so cool, the blue hole, fantastic lunch and Sweetings Cay for the turtle sanctuary. We’ve been coming to the island for 12 years now (have a place here) and finally got to know better the beauty that is the East End. Lots of boat time, beautiful blues of the water, lots of creatures to see, spotted eagle rays, stingrays, tarpon etc. and a whole lot of starfish which are a favourite of mine. Lunch was in a beautiful setting with peas and rice, cracked lobster and fish fingers cooked perfectly. Plenty of quiet beauty, resilience and pride present here, pleasure to experience 🥰🇧🇸🥰Written November 14, 2024
- oksanay4630 contributionsFun summer tripOur stay was messed up a bit because of the weather - strong winds and some rain due to a passing hurricane (but not directly in our area). Folks in town are very friendly and will tell you a lot of history. We enjoyed exploring restaurants - Flying Fish Gourmet Bar, The Stoned Crab, and Peer One are defining worth a visit. Lukaya market is also a fun place to visit but on the days when there are no cruise ships in town not all stalls are open and the they also close early. Banks and ATMs are few, and most give you local money. Definitely swim with dolphins. Also we took a ferry from Ft. Lauderdale to Freeport - a very nice experience. Comfortable way to travel.Written August 14, 2024
- scomun10 contributionsGreat Snorkling, and a lot of funBryce picked us up and informed and entertained us on the ride to the boat. He provided a lot of iinterstinf info on the Bahamas, joked and even sang a song. The snorkeling was excellent. Starting with the Blue hole, we saw Stingrays and tons of fish. We then drift snorkeled which I had never done…it was great. We covered a lot of area and saw more rays, fish and tons of starfish. Finished off at one of the most amazing beaches I’ve ever been to. Unlike anything. Bryce works hard to make sure you have a great time.Written July 25, 2024
- ChadJoyce0 contributionsFANTASTIC Snorkel ExperienceThis was the HIGHLIGHT of our cruise. WOW, what an amazing time. If you want an experience that is extremely more personal and intimate than that of the cruise ship, book this excursion. Bryce picked us up at the airport and then it was about an hour drive to the boat. He took us to a remote part of the island where the cruise excursions don't go. We saw dolphins, nurse sharks, eagle rays, starfish (the size of basketballs), crazy amounts of fish, and turtles that were simply mesmerizing. Then we did a drift snorkel where the current carried us along - there was no swimming involved. We got a great history of the island, saw a local fishing village, and even got introduced to a fun song that Bryce sang. I simply can not encourage anyone enough to book this excursion. You won't be disappointed!!!Written June 11, 2024
- dawnbO5755OS0 contributionsFamily fun day without the crowdWe enjoyed our day with Brice, Ricka and Robert. Brice provided an educational experience with our ~1 hour drive to the boat. The snorkeling was amazing, saw lots of starfish, sea cucumbers, sand dollars and fish. The views were amazing! Would recommend this for those interested in a less touristy atmosphere. Thanks for your hospitality!Written May 13, 2024
- Dreamer464662534460 contributionsGreat excursion, lots of sightingsWe had a great time snorkeling. We had to reschedule because of the weather but the process was easy. It was my first time and Brice made sure I was comfortable with the snorkel before I took off. He was knowledgeable and friendly. Rika made us a great lunch on the private beach. We saw sharks, dolphins, starfish, rays, conch, sea cucumbers, a sea turtle, and lots of coral. You will get your feet wet! The turtles were shy at the turtle park, we only saw one, but it was still cool. Overall a great excursion.Written May 7, 2024

- monicadZ6975LR0 contributions100% recommendHad a great day with Brice and his crew!! Absolutely worth the money and such a fantastic experience. The weather was beautiful, the coral reef and blue hole were breathtaking, and our guide was so hospitable and prompt! We were pi ked up from the Freeport cruise port by Rica. She drove about an hour to a boat ramp where we met Brice and explored the flats of the eastern Bahamas. After 45 minutes of drift snorkeling, we went back for a quick lunch at Brice's home and relaxed on his private beach. The views were incredible and it was so nice to get away from the hustle of the city and all of the tourist attractions. Definitely recommend!!!Written March 12, 2024

The best Bahamas excursion we had! We were treated to a private slice of heaven on this very authentic Bahamas excursion. Brice, our guide, is extremely personable and shared his wealth of knowledge of the Bahamas on the 45 minute ride to a boat launch. (He has different-sized boats to accommodate different sized groups.). We enjoyed a quick ride to the kayak site which is a private slice of paradise on the edge of Sweetings Cay. The water is clear as gin, the sand like sugar, and you’ll see fish, conch shells, starfish and birds as you kayak up the creek through the mangroves. It was so peaceful and gorgeous. We took a refreshing swim and walked the private beach. We had a nice sandwich and water overlooking the water before we took a quick boat shuttle over to try to see some turtles. We did not see any on our day but it was okay; the kayaking and private beach was well worth the time and money. I get nervous on boats so Brice accommodated me by giving me a life jacket to wear. Pack your sunscreen and water/walking shoes and get ready for a great day.

Very unique experience! It was so nice to get away from the crowds and "the usual" and have an adventure off the beaten path. The remote location was beautiful. Brice gave us so much information and also shared the little-known things about The Bahamas--and the country's heart wrenching recovery from Hurricane Dorian.

This was an awesome adventure. Our excursion included snorkeling off of Michael’s Cay, which was amazing, the best in the Grand Bahama Island. It was a like a lazy river, snorkeling over star fish, colorful coral and fans, eagle rays, and tons of colorful fish. We visited the turtles at the Sea Turtle Santuary and had lunch on the beach at a private location. The boat ride was exactly what we were looking for as we explored the cays and walked the beaches at the East End. Thank you Brice for this great day!!

What could have been a fun tour turned out to be dangerous and poorly thought out.
Although it was very windy and extremely rough water, the tour wasn’t canceled. Bryce’s sense of judgement for knowing the conditions was lacking. The water was so rough we couldn’t kayak to turtle park, and we had to shorten our kayaking. The boat ride to and from the launch site was a trip from hell. Never should have happened. I had to decide to grab life jackets for my wife and me….awful ride…the boat almost went over three times. And last, can you believe once we got back into the car, he said we owed him $10 more for parking. Parking?! He had picked us up and he parked his car in a gravely, rubbish strewn area, not a parking lot. Bryce put us in extreme danger and we didn’t get what we paid for.

Good day,
I’m sad to know that you felt the way you wrote this review. Going to the cay was not dangerous, the sea in the mangroves was calm, but we did have a head wind that made it hard to kayak up wind, but the water was clear and there was coral life and fish for you to see. During lunch the weather did change and we stretch the tour an additional 2 hrs to weight for tide to come up, so that we can ride the shore line which made it safe to travel, and if something serious would have happen the water was only about 2 feet and about 20 feet from the shore which was a Sandy bottom and beach. I’m sorry that you felt your life was in danger, but I’m a licensed captain and I know what I was doing.

Good fun! Brice & Rico were wonderful. Brice was very informative about island knowledge/history. It was a cultural immersion with individual attention to our group. Kayak trip was in a beautiful area-saw starfish, conch, fish, stingrays, sharks in the distance and one turtle popped his head up. Lunch was good-sandwich, chips & water. They then took us to a spot to feed and see the turtles. Overall-highly recommend. Make sure to have extra cash for parking and tips!

This excursion was the best thing I did on my trip to the Bahamas. Bryce was great. He had a lot of good trivia and facts about the island. This trip was not your run of the mill excursion. If you don't want the same thing that everyone else is doing and want something different and exciting - book this one. I can't recommend this excursion enough.

The excursion was okay. Not GREAT!! I'm so glad a called ahead otherwise I would not have known where to meet. Bryce is a very nice man but drives way too fast with passengers. Scared us a couple of times. The description of this excursion is not accurate. We did NOT kayak with turtles. We kayaked in a waterway area that had nothing exciting in it. We did see a few fish and starfish. We were told be back from kayaking in one hour from departing on our boat. They only have double kayaks. The lunch was adequate. A nice sandwich with chips with a bottle water. I'm glad we brought a bottle of water with us otherwise we would have had nothing to drink while kayaking in the hot sun. We were driven to a place where there were supposed to be turtles. Saw none. This was a very expensive trip for what we got in return.

Hello Carol,
We do apologize that we were unable to meet and exceeded your expiration. The kayaking is more a nature thing, and the turtles are wild so we are unable to guarantee you will see turtles.
Sincerely,
Brice.

First, I was a bit nervous about taking a jeep ride all the way from Freeport to McLean's Town since one of my kids has extreme motion sickness. So I called them up and they told me that we could drive ourselves to McLean's if that was easier - and they agreed to a reduced price since they didn't have to provide our transportation.
They took us out in a boat and pointed out underwater caves, told us the history of the island and pulled up shells and starfish for us to hold. They had 2 fishing rods and asked if we'd like to fish at all before heading to the one of the cays for kayaking. We opted out of the fishing, but they were great at finding fish, sting rays and even a small shark for us to view (and they turned the boat around and followed the shark until everyone had a chance to see it).
After a 10 minute boat ride (on perfectly calm water that didn't bother my normally seasick kid), we landed and grabbed the kayaks. Kayaking thru the mangroves was so relaxing and beautiful. Our guide pointed out a lot of fish and plant life. When we finished kayaking, the kids were given time to go swimming on the beach. Then we jumped back in the boat and went to a native village on the other side of the cay for lunch. The plan was for a lobster meal, but when they found out that 4/5 of us don't eat seafood, they changed plans and gave us 1 lobster dinner and 4 fried chicken dinners with rice and potato salad (VERY good!).
After eating, we took a 2 minute boat ride and a 5 minute walk to get to Turtle Park - an interior pond that was home to several species of turtles. Our guides had brought the leftovers from lunch to entice the turtles over to us. We saw 6 really big turtles (3 difference species) before hopping back in the boat to go home.
We ended up spending almost 4 hours on this tour not including the time to drive out & back (and it could have been longer if we had decided to do fishing or snorkeling with them which they offered). We were never rushed and were encouraged to take as much time as we wanted with all the sites. The guides were great and the views were amazing.

This was my first trip to Grand Bahama Island with my boyfriend. We were on a Carnival cruise and they worked so well with getting us from the port. The drive was wonderful and Brice made the hour long drive feel really short with fun facts and guessing games. Brice took us to Sweeting's Cay to see the turtle park and it was magnificent. We were greeted by several turtles and got some awesome photos. We then went to get our kayaks and Brice toured us around the area for 30 - 45 minutes. This was most definitely the highlight of our trip. Best guide, best company, and overall 5 star experience!

This trip was a definite highlight of visiting Grand Bahama Island. I had heard a lot about the different ecosystems, flora, and fauna out on the island's East End, and had heard wonderful things about Sweeting's Cay, so we decided on the kayak excursion to be able to see the mangroves. Our guide for the kayaking and motor boat travel went out of his way to identify different species, take us up close to different animals, and show us all the unique things about Sweetings Cay both on land and in the water. We came within a few feet of giant stingrays, sharks, underwater caves, and many different types of fish, and we were able to be right in the water with starfish and a small octopus. Everyone involved was friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we got as much out of the trip as we possibly could. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking, and I'm still blown away by how much wildlife we saw. (Booking was easy too - we called, they booked us on a trip for the very next day, and we paid in cash at the end of the tour.) Highly recommend!
