We had been recommended this tour by friends who had been on it with Fox as a guide and raved about it. The company says clearly 10 maximum but there were 15 on our tour and the guide actually said yes my boss is packing them in on this one. We were very disappointed. This was a drinking tour with some nice snacks and tastes accompanying it and a lot of "exit through the gift shop" elements.
The guide was new and had only started the week before. She was young and very enthusiastic and well organised but the guiding left a lot to be desired. The tour itself starting at the distillery was history very light and we were expecting more info. That set the tone of the tour. The drinks at the distillery were excellent with a pina colada taster and then a coconut cocktail. We went for a veggie option and had spring rolls. However as there were more than the 10 on the tour it took a great deal of time at each stop to get the drinks and samples. Then all 15 of us were taken in and out of all the different stops including the unbelievably shabby "5*" Greycliff which frankly was embarrassingly dreadful and completely run down. See reviews of the hotel.....not to mention filthy. See photo of the pool....We were taken into some scuzzy grubby hot room at the back of the chocolate shop to be given a history of cocoa and to taste two chocolates and then to a cigar showroom. All for retail purchase obviously. Everywhere we went on the property was dirty, run down and in need of renovation. We walked straight past the National Gallery and then went to a pirate bar where another drink was forthcoming. We left at that point as the next stop was a speak easy for more drinks and we wanted to have a look at more of the area and visit some sites rather than bars. If you want lots of drinks for your buck then this will do the trick as there is nothing bad to say about the actual drink quality. We were expecting the walking bit to be more informative.

AWESOME TOUR!!! Our tour guide Mikey was absolutely amazing. He kept us entertained, energetic, and was well versed on the history and details. This is well worth booking for the price even if you are not a heavy drinker. Everything described in the description is exactly what you receive, and they are good portions.

The tour was by far one of the highlights of our trip to the Bahamas, and relatively speaking the best value of anything we did while there. We had sever $350-400 dinners (Bahamas are expensive!) , and this $180 for a couple was money well spent. Fox was a truly fantastic tour guide. There was a last minute cancellation of other members of our tour and it was only us and Fox. He treated it as if it was a full house. His knowledge of all sorts of history of the island, rum, cigars, food, culture was great. He was damn funny and engaging as well. At one point he picked up a guitar from a street performer that he knew and serenaded us. The drinks were good and the food was tasty (snacks, not a meal fyi) but it is tour was top notch. They could have served us Alpo and dishwater, and I would still give it 5 stars (well maybe 4). Don't give it a second thought and book this tour.

Location: Nassau, Bahamas
Provider: Islandz Tours
Tour Guide: Fox
Tour: Rum Walking Tour
Date: 27, September 2022
Overall Rating: 10/10
On this Tour the goal was to learn about Rum, drink rum and eat food.
What we actually did was:
Learn the insane history of rum, politics and I now know there's a tunnel that will get you from Nassau to the Florida keys in about 3 months. I know that there's several secret passages all under the island. My fear of barn owls are 100% backed up in ✨️science✨️ (ok maybe folklore), I know why flamingos are pink and that they are the national bird. We learned that you want to ask about what region those Cuban cigars come from and that cigars are expensive because they are hand rolled. Onions go really well with chocolate and Hennessey. Wine made with peaches >>> other fruits. That being a bar tender is hard and that I was fired after it took us 10 minutes to make one drink and MOST IMPORTANTLY.... When on a tour with Fox, you really do have a friend.
We spent several hours learning about the different grades of rum, how they are distilled, enjoying delicious cocktails and snacks as well as learning so much about the culture and history of the Bahamas through its art. The rain couldn't stop our amazing day and Fox carefully led us through for an informative, fun and creative way to learn more about the islands. We learned the importance of ice in alcohol and how it can change the taste and how more ice is better in drinks. Making our own cocktails while surrounded by one of the master artists paintings really allowed us to be fully immersed in the experience.
This was an overwhelming perfect experience and Fox really made the tour unique, informative and so fun, even when it started to rain.
Thank you again Fox for everything and keep being the amazing person that you are!!!

This tour was a blast! It was a great way to see the sights in Nassau, enjoy some tasty cocktails, rum tastings, and treats, and learn about the history of Nassau and The Bahamas. Our tour guide Shad was as entertaining and quick-witted as he was knowledgeable about history, politics, and geography -- and of course rum! Such a great time, I'd recommend this trip to anyone who is up for a walk around the city to drink and eat delicious things.

This truly was the highlight of our trip. You can view the itinerary and see the stops that you will make to savor the food and drinks. Our guide, Shad, was THE best guide ever. From the moment we met him at the distillery, I knew this was going to be a fantastic tour. His humor and informative knowledge of the history of the Bahamas was impressive as was his impressions and funny stories of the Royals and other things and events in the Bahamas. It turned out the other people on the tour cancelled. Their loss, but our gain because we had a private tour with Shad. Wear comfortable shoes and enjoy! You won't be disappointed. Thank you so much Shad! You are the best!

This walking tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip!!! We had the best time enjoying the true vibrance of the colorful architecture, culture, art, spirits, food, and people.
Our tour guide Mikey was knowledgeable, funny, energetic and a joy to spend our day with. The staff along our tour, like our bartender Chris at the Hillside House, and the guides at John Waitling’s Distillery, were all so friendly, fun, and welcoming.
This tour is worth the every penny! Truly a great experience.

Fox is the best! He made the whole day. His energy was contagious he kept us engaged while learning some great fun facts about the Bahamas. It was nice to walk around downtown with a local. The mixology session at the end had such a lovely setting it was the perfect way to wind down after all of the walking. The drinks we tried were delicious. My favorite was a Pina Colada made with fresh coconut. All of the stops along the way were great as well. If you are visiting Nassau I highly recommend this tour ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!

This was the best part of our 5-day stay in Nassau. Our guide was phenomenal at showing us around and ensuring we had a good time. It was also a great opportunity to connect with other tourists while connecting with the city. Great value for what you spend. 100% would recommend anyone to do this tour during your visit!

Shad was outstanding! He was professional as well as exceptionally entertaining. He has a flair for storytelling that made his presentation on rum making and pirate lore fascinating and exciting. When planning our shore excursions for our trip to the Bahamas, my husband and I ended up searching for tours not affiliated with our cruise as nothing offered by the cruise line looked interesting. We are so glad that we found this because we had a fantastic time. My husband and I were able to navigate the 15 minute walk to the distillery from our cruise ship easily and the entire tour ended up lasting about 3.5 hours, ending in plenty of time before we needed to be back on board. This was such an awesome experience, the drinks and food were great, and again, Shad was an outstanding tour guide.

Hello, one person in our party is 16 do we still have to pay for a ticket for them? They are not consuming any alcohol because they are underage.

I will be on a cruise. Does it start and end close to the port?
Written May 3, 2023
When we did the tour it started at John Watlings distillery (17 Delancy Street, Nassau, New Providence 00000) and ended at a fun little museum/outdoor bar that was right down the street from some shops that I believe are close enough to the ports where you could walk to them.
Written May 4, 2023
How far is the meeting spot from the cruise ports? Is it walking distance or will we need to catch a ride?
Written October 25, 2022
Think when you book the company arrange a suitable meeting point…….we got picked up in a minibus. All very clear and efficient when you book.

We are staying in San Salvador. On our return, we get to Nassau at 10, but don't fly out until 6:30. Given this long layover, we're looking for something to do. Can we make this work? I'm assuming we could taxi to the start of the tour, but we'll have our carryon luggage unless we can store it somewhere at the airport. Also, we are a group of 27, although I doubt everyone would want to participate.
Thanks!
Written April 1, 2022
You would want to find a locker or something at the airport unless your carry on is a back pack. The tour is a walking tour, not a super long distance but you do go into some stores and there are no real sidewalks.

Good Morning
My fiancé and I did this tour about a year and a half ago. We loved it! We will be coming down to Nassau for our wedding this upcoming February 2020. We want to set up this tour for some of our guests to partake in. We potentially may have 20-40 people. Would you be able to accommodate a group like that? I am ok if you need to split us up with multiple tour guides. We would be looking to do this Thursday February 20th. Most likely in the afternoon.
I look forward to hearing from you
Thanks!
