This was incredible. I did a lot of research on whether to choose this or go to Pig Island which btw is twice as expensive and a three hour boat ride (one way) compared to about 20 minutes. Everything was great from the funny and smiling staff who were happy to answer all my questions (I ask a lot of them!) to the views! The snorkeling was right off the dock and surprisingly fruitful with lots of fish of various sizes to a sea turtle! Equipment was included in the cost of the experience as was a delicious and filling lunch with the chefs special chicken sauce that was so good I had to ask what the secret was (alas, it remains a secret) There were random roaming chickens, baby chickens, roosters, male and female peacocks and their babies too! A whole list of delicious drinks were included (and others for purchase if you wanted) at the bar while on the island. Lockers were available for rent but everything felt very safe and we didn’t wind up needing one. The bathroom was super clean as was everything else!

PIGS:
Unlike pig island there’s little chance of being bit here. The pigs are well cared for and well trained. I was informed that there had been a pig they saved from slaughter who wasn’t much of a fan of humans and instead of killing her she was kept and just hangs out away from the tourists. At the time of our visit I was told they’re currently building a hurricane shelter for the pigs and had just gotten some baby pigs and were in the process of training them. In addition to the baby pigs we also met teens and adult pigs. Kids could sit on them if they wished, some did tricks, we swam with others, fed them and pet them! I really appreciated the staff’s care for them; naming every one and talking about each’s personality and letting us know how intelligent they are. You could tell from the way they talked to and about the animals they cared. The pigs were brought out three at a time every half hour and this allowed plenty of time for everyone to take photos and interact with them. There were babies, toddlers, up to people in their 60’s. This was definitely an activity everyone could enjoy; couples, families, and singles alike!

When I returned to our hotel (which btw was walking distance from the meeting point to get on the boat to the island) I wound up reading about the activity I hadn’t booked and was so glad I choose sandy toes where the animals are kept well, safe, and don’t bite.

This excursion exceeding our expectations, we seriously considered coming back for a second day.

It's about a 25 minute ride to the island. Once you arrive you have the choice to snorkel (there is a time limit and this is your only chance) or you can head to the other side of the island to the pig beach. It only a few minutes to walk from one side to the other but be prepared for some uneven terrain.

If you skip snorkeling the pigs come right out and you'll have time to get more pictures and time with them. As you head down the stairs from the bar the pigs come out at the far right end of the beach as you are looking at the water. They bring them out 3 at a time, there is a break between and they bring out different pigs each time. You can pet them, feed them and get plenty of pictures.

Lunch is served from 1 - 1:30, it's a buffet of salad, pasta salad, rice, hot dogs, jerk kitchen and dinner rolls. All were very good and you can get more of whatever you liked. The bar also has small bags of chips if you get hungry.

For the bar they are open when you get there, the basic drink package includes well cocktails, including all the drinks on their cocktail menu, Sands and Sand Light but no frozen drinks but they are available for purchase or if you purchase the upgraded package. If you bring a cup with a lid they will fill that for you, keeps your drink cold and the sand out. Plus they don't mind if it's larger then there cups and you can only get one drink at a time so less trips from the beach to the bar, you have to climb a flight of stairs each time.

The staff is incredible, be sure to bring lots of cash to tip them because they deserve it!

Our boat to Exuma got cancelled due to bad weather so we chose the next best thing, swimming with pigs in Rose island. It was the best thing we did in the Bahamas, a trip which would otherwise be a disappointment.

The team looked after the pigs so well! Putting sun screen lotions on them and making sure that the same pig won’t be “working” with the tourist for a long time by alternating between the pigs. We also got to meet little Darcey the pig that was still in training to interact with tourists so we couldn’t feed her. I appreciate how well the staff take care of them and I 100% recommended this excursion!

We also enjoyed free flowing drinks and a buffet lunch. The island itself looks untouched and magical. Just the perfect location.

The sea was too stormy to swim with the pigs, but the stuff didn’t want us to get disappointed and took us to a bay with calm water where we could queue up to swim with them and take photos and videos.

Amazing experience all in all!

Although going to the island was a nice trip and the staff was very nice, I would not recommend this for snorkeling or for “swimming with the pigs”. First of all, they take at least 50 people at one time snorkeling where the guide leads you. Both beginners and advanced snorkelers. We constantly got kicked and hit by others because the group was way to large. Some people didn’t wear fins and kicked up the water so you couldn’t see. They could have taken 1/2 the group snorkeling while others were on the beach and vice versa to make it less crowded. If people were in front of you, the fish were gone before you got there and you had to stay with the group. Secondly, they feed the fish to intice them to come which is frowned upon by most experts. They Even picked up a starfish and passed it around. SWIMMING WITH THE PIGS: the pigs are standing on the beach and you can take your photo with them and pet them. Ginger, Spice, and Pepper. When I asked “don’t they swim”, they took some food and backed into the water for the pig to follow. Once the pig ate the food, they just walked back out.. no swimming involved at all so misleading. We are frequent travelers and frequent divers and snorklers and have been to many islands. We still had some fun on this trip but wouldn’t recommend this excursion for snorkeling especially. Also if you are concerned regarding covid, the boat was crowded and staff didn’t requests masks to be worn, even at dock. Also the island was rocky so wouldn’t advice people with any handicap to go. People liked the bar and playing corn hole while on the island. The lunch consisted of chicken legs and hot dogs and salad. Again, you may like it overall but we prefer smaller groups.

My husband, myself, and our 10 year old son had a wonderful experience. We loved everything about it!! First, the customer service by every employee was so pleasant. Cindi went above and beyond to help get our excursion rebooked due to our original day being canceled due to weather. My husband and son snorkeled and the staff took all necessary measures to ensure the safety of their guests. There were two guides in the water, a guy on water watch above the water, a boat that was staying alongside the snorkeling group, and proper training and equipment. The beach side bar tenders remembered my preferred drink as well as my husband’s and were always quick. Lunch was delicious grilled bbq chicken grilled minutes before serving along with great pasta salad and salad. And the pigs. Oh, the pigs! They were precious and it is obvious they are well cared for daily. They are living their best lives. Sandy Toes has done an excellent job with the DETAILS and ensuring guests are happy. We had a fabulous day, and it was the highlight of our whole trip! ❤️🐷

This was a perfect excursion! The staff was fantastic! We took my mother in law and teen who had snorkeled before it was a little challenging getting into the water as the waters were rough that day but once we got oriented it was a lot of fun. The food was good, the lemonade a little weak with flavor but the drinks at the bar were delicious!! The beach was absolutely beautiful and the pigs were sweet and definitely well taken care of. If you want a shorter trip from Nassau to see swimming pigs then this is a perfect option. We booked directly with sandy toes and got the all inclusive option so we didn’t have to pay a deposit for snorkel gear and all drinks and alcohol included except for one liquor!

Great trip! Family of 5 of us with kids 16, 14, and 12. Our daughter's dream was to swim with the piggys and she was more than thrilled by the experience. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth doing once.

Things we learned:
1. If you are driving to the dock, get there (Margaritaville restaurant) early and slip the security guard $20, tell him you are with Sandy Toes and he'll make a parking spot for you
2. Get in line early so you can get a covered seat at the back of the boat for the 30-40 min ride to the island. Back of the boat for easier disembarking.
3. Upon arrival to the island go immediately to the beach (not in line for snorkels) to get a covered spot on the beach, then go to the line for snorkels
4. Get the drink passes. Not a value but better than paying per drink.
5. Upon arrival to the beach, you are forced to snorkel first but you can go rogue and swim around if you brought your own gear. Nothing special about snorkeling with the group.
6. Pigs are brought out on to the far right-side of the beach every 30 mins. The handlers are very nice and will take your pictures, let you ride the pigs, swim next to them, you can feed them, etc
7. Lunch line wasn't bad. Don't need to line up early. We were starving by the time the food was ready so it tasted amazing.
8. Get in line early for the boat ride back. You are cooked by the time the day is over, so you don't want to be stuck on the uncovered top of the boat.

Again, amazing trip with the kids. Probably not a repeat adventure but definitely glad we did it.

This was a very well organized and supervised excursion, from booking, to arrival and throughout the trip, we were greeted and welcomed, with clear instruction and information provided. The island was beautiful and private for our exploration & enjoyment, and the swimming pigs encounter was amazing! They are such sweet animals and very well behaved and maintained, will definitely recommend this experience for anyone visiting the Bahamas, thank you for our wonderful experience, would surely get Sandy Toes again one day!

This was a great experience! Well organized and helpful staff. If you want to go snorkeling, you have to do that first. I thought that was strange at first but then appreciated the safety precautions involved. There was a guide in the water the with the group the entire time, feeding the fish. There were also at least 2 staff members watching from shore the entire time. Looking for sharks? Who knows but I felt safe! Lots of cool fish and coral to see. Included drinks were great, but only 2 bartenders for 50 people makes for a bit of a wait. Lunch was good too. Pigs are brought out every 30 minutes and are huge and well trained. You can take pictures, pet and feed them. After lunch they take the pigs into the water to swim. There were enough chairs for everyone and some hammocks. Not much shade though. There are air conditioned bathrooms and outdoor showers to rinse off. It was a great day. Even my teen son had fun!

Wow, what an amazing day. I have done a lot of excursions on many vacations over the years and Sandy Toes is one of the best ones I have ever done. It's basically day of having a private Caribbean island all to yourself. They limit the amount of guests that can come on the island each day so it never feels crowded.

The opportunity to swim in the ocean with the pigs is such a fantastic experience. They alternate in sets of 3 pigs every 30 minutes throughout the day and they come out with trainers who show you the pigs doing tricks and make it easy to swim with the pigs. Make sure to have a camera!

They also have a bar to serve you drinks and a very tasty lunch included with the excursion. Snorkeling is also offered as well as some other beach toys such a a raft and tubes.

I hardly ever write reviews but Sandy Toes is amazing in all aspects so I gad to. Excellent friendly staff, truly unique experience.....I can't wait to return.
