About the operator
- 347sm00Poorly tasting wine from imported grapesPoorly organized. Sample wine was overly sweet to draw tourists in. Flight was a nightmare with unknowledgeable staff. Only time they are open is when ships are in port but the crowds make this place unusable
- Angela Z00Wine ClassThe wine mixing class at Bahama Barrels was a real delight! I stumbled upon it by happenstance and had a wonderful time. The instructor was informative and passionate about the winery which made the session fun and interesting. On top of all that I walked out with two bottles of custom blended wine with a family label. They even save your specific formula so you can order it again! A real treat tucked away in the Graycliff complex. Highly recommended.
- Frank-in-SF00Great Stop at Only Winery in The BahamasMy spouse and I really liked his place. The setting in a former chapel is charming, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We saw the mixing class in progress at the other table as we took part in a tasting. The price for this was extremely reasonable considering the generousness of the pours and the number of wines tasted, which was about eight or nine. We learned that no grapes were actually grown on the islands; neither were the peaches and strawberries that went into the fruit wines we tasted. Bahama Barrels does, however, make wines from tamarind, mango, and sea grapes, which are all locally sourced. The wines were delicious, with the exception of one, the bulk of which went directly into the beaker placed there for swill. After a bit of back and forth the group at the table decided the closest thing to its peculiar flavor was clams, and who wants clam wine? So we got a good laugh and interesting conversation with fellow cruise passengers from another ship, in addition to tasting some very nice wines. This was an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so. We were glad we did!
- baileyhonea00Wine TastingWe stopped into Bahama Barrels to kill some time before leaving for the airport. The tasting of 6 wines was $5. The wines were all "overripe" if you're into wine tasting, but were tasty enough. The wines are also very affordable. Service was A++
- TrueTexasTraveler00Don't miss the only winery in The BahamasThe Bahama's only winery, if you enjoy wine you must stop at Bahama Barrels. They import their grapes, but make their wine at the winery and have a large selection. We only had time for the tasting, not the tour, but really enjoyed it. The young man running the tasting room was very personable, funny and a lot of fun. There was a fun group of people all in there tasting wine, swapping stories, and having a good time.
- L1712ULgeorgek00We had a great time and learned a lot. Selena explained winemaking, the wines they produce and details on each wineWe traveled to Nassau on a cruise and I signed up three of us for the class. Our class was held in the same room as the Stainless Steel wine vats, which is where they bottle the wines. We received background on where the fermented grapes came from and the wines they produce. She was tending to the wine when we came in. We had a sheet to fill out after she told us what the wine was. We all tasted it and then made notes on our impressions. We went through 5 different wines and she was kind enough to let us sample a few others when we asked about them. After we tasted all of the wines it was time for us to create our own creation. She had us measure and use three wines with a 25%, 50% and 25% ratio. Then she had us record our mixture and then we tried a total of three different creations and in the end she had us highlight our favorite on the sheet. Selena took the sheets and in a large beaker used our ratios to make enough to fill a wine bottle. She then sterilized bottle and gave us our beaker and instructed us to fill our personal wine bottle. There was enough left that wouldn't go in the bottle so we could enjoy our favorite. Then we had to cork our own bottle and then pick a name for our wine. The whole experience was enjoyable from start to finish and highly recommend it. I know I will do it again the next time I visit.
- bheath146100Nice selectionNice selection of wines to choice from, the wife prefers sweets but they have something for all to taste.
- Denise P00Excellent tourWe did this tour feom.our cruise ship. We arrived and went into the tasting room and tried a few of their wines. Then we moved into the blending class. They gave us 6-7 wines to blend together to make your own unique blend. The class was so much fun. Once you finalize your receipe you name your wine and they will print a label. Then they take your mixture and convert it to a full bottle receipe. Then you fill your bottle, cap it and put the label on it to take home. 1 bottle is included in the tour and they offer you a 2nd at a discount. We really enjoyed this tour and will definitely do again.
- lauragG9769EL00Blending ClassWe signed up for the blending class and end up having a private class with just our group of six. Seeing grapes really do not grow on the island, there wines are made in other countries, imported and then they age them in different barrels to enhance the flavor. The class is about blending the different kinds of wines together to create your own unique blend. It's like a little science experiment. At the end, each guest fills a bottle to take home with their own blend. You even get to create your own label. Not so much educational but really fun and you get to drink pretty much as much wine as you can handle!
- AliJo2500Wine Lovers ParadiseOur group had SUCH a blast here! We attended the blending class and definitely got our $ worth! We were given 5 different types of wine to taste and then begin to blend. The girl who lead our class had no hesitation giving us more wine if we ran out of something we liked while blending. It was just the 6 of us, so was completely private to our group which was really neat. We got to blend, bottle, cork and label our creation to bring home! Such a good memory from our trip to be able to enjoy later!
- mydadlife00One of my favorite mistakesFound this place when looking for a restroom for my son, what a great mistake! We were able to in short order explore the wines and purchase some to take home with us; they were just as good at home. The only problem....they are hard to get here at home. We look forward to returning.
- Niki G00WineWe were on a cruise and popped in for a tasting. The tasting was great. The wine was very good. I purchased a bottle of the Primitivo. 3 days later I opened the wine to discover it was no where near the same wine I tasted.it wasn't corked. It was cheap. Either they are storing it wrong or they are selling crap to the tourists. So disappointing! But it's not like I can go back and complain.
- MinnScooter00most fun ever playing with ( and drinking) wineI found this online and made reservations before we left got there early and did a tasting ( free becauase we were doing the blending)then we got a tour of the winery inside the old chapel then our leader in the blending came in a very nice and informativw young lady who's name escaopes me ( too much sampling our blends) we are given 3 reds and two whites- a chard, pino grigio, a merlot, a carb. & a zin. to use to blend..first we "had" to taste each one then we were shown how to mesure & record %'s of each sample ( which of course you also had to drink because as she said " We do not waste wine in the Bahamas" with a little help from her I got it on my 5th try my friend took about 3 more trys we then got to mix up enough for a bottle+ ( aned of course we had to drink the plus as we do not waste wine in the Bahamas" we each got to make up our own personal lable then we filled the bottle, corked it and labled it..was just over an hour, lots of wine was drank and we each had a bottle to take with us all for a very affordable $45 each ..if you like wine put this on your schedule.
- bootsdaddy00VacationOur cruise stopped in the Bahamas. We were looking at different excursions to try. We decided on Bahama Barrels for their wine making class. The lady who taught our class was very knowledgeable on the wine, history of the building and surrounding area. We also were able to bring home our very own bottles of wine we made. We also decided to have lunch at the establishment. We ordered fried conch and on the lady's suggestion the conch salad with mango and pineapple. We enjoyed the local cuisine. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
- Jtburbine00Great fun and highly recommended. Staff was wonderful!!Great fun and highly recommended. Staff was wonderful!! We got to blend our own wine with the help of an expert and left with a bottle of your creation. It was a great value and tons of fun!! Be careful drinking your "mistakes", you could find it difficult to walk back to the cruise ship.

We were quite disappointed with our experience.
1.)The A/C wasn't working although they tried to accommodate with a few box fans IT WAS HOTTT.
2.)The host wasn't engaging at all and kept leaving us without much guidance as to what to expect next. He never introduced himself or even acknowledged my birthday and we were a group of 7. I'm glad the other guests were nice. That really helped with making the best of it.
3.) The cork machine is broken and nobody informed us until the end. They just gave us screw tops which was the biggest disappointment.
4.) They gave us cheap brown paper bags from the liquor store instead of wine bags.
5.) The labels were mixed-up and wrong and it took a while to get them right.
I would've preferred if they were more upfront with their shortcomings and gave us the opportunity for a refund. Definitely not something I'd pay for again.

We enjoyed learning about the history of Graycliff and the process they use to make their wines. Our attendant was very helpful and she even brought over some chocolates from the Graycliff chocolate shop for us to enjoy. We had a great time blending our wine, corking it, and naming it.

Wow! My best friend and I just returned from our first cruise together and she booked us this experience before we left. It was not offered through the cruise line which is a good thing. This made for an affordable experience and not only that but fun and educational! We even blended our own wine to bottle up and take home with custom labels. Our winemaker was truly amazing! She was generous with the pours and made sure everyone was well taken care of. We ended up with a group of 4 others and it was perfect. We made new friendships for sure! I also bought a bottle of Sorrel. Sooooo good! Tip them well, they work hard. Thank you to the wonderful winemaker lady for your hospitality!

The highlight of my experience was the blending and coming up with my own unique name for my wine. They made us feel welcomed being early and all. I don’t drink wine but it was so awesome (I’m now a wine head)
Aj the instructor seemed nervous at the start but he warmed up to us.
All and all it’s a must do in the Bahamas. I live here and it was a first and definitely won’t be the last for me.

We had so much fun for our “winemaker for a day” class! The location is very cool, just outside the busyness of the port area. We were the only 2 guests! Our guide, Brent was great and so much fun. We loved the process and that we could take a bottle of our finished product, complete with our own custom label. Best experience in Nassau!

My boyfriend and I did the wine making class at Bahama barrels and really enjoyed it! They ask you before you start what kind of wine you enjoy to help you in curating your wine blend. It was a great experience and I am excited to go back and get another bottle of my wine in the future! Thank you!!

This class was SO much fun! After our cruise line canceled this excursion that we had booked through them, without telling us...we booked it through TripAdvisor. We walked from the cruise port to the Winery....less than a 15 minute walk. We were greeted with some wines to taste while we waited for our class instructor.
We were led into the class/winery (its actually an old church). It was airconditioned and very comfortable. We were instructed on every step from blending the wines, tasting to create our own blend using their wines. We labeled and corked our own 750ml wine bottles. I HIGHLY recommend booking this class! We even bought an extra bottle for only $10 because I couldn't decide which blend I wanted to go with!
