Poor food, poor service, very expensive for a horrible experience
Bad experience from start to finish. When we arrived, the place looked in need of a major renovation/restoration. We have been here many times in the past but now it has lost its charm and just looks old and dirty. We checked in with the host, where we expected to begin the experience with a nice drink in a lounge. Instead we were seated in two worn and dusty chairs and no one ever came over to offer us a bar menu or take an order for a drink, in spite of the fact that there were about six waiters ten feet away talking to each other and no other customers. We should have left then but instead went back to the host and told him no one was waiting on us at the bar. He didn’t seem to care, making no apology or offer to help. Instead, he just took us to our table. We were seated next to a window with a view of a side street and an empty parking lot across the street. No ambiance to say the least. The only other customers we saw were a table of ten in shorts and flip flops (guess the dress code no longer applies here) but there were lots of staff standing around. This was on a Saturday night at 7pm and in contrast the Baha Mar restaurants where we were staying were packed. We ordered a filet mignon, duck, potato purée, a glass of wine and a coke. Food was awful. Duck was stringy and chewy, steak was ordered medium but came very rare with two cold, congealed sauces, potatoes were cold. Food was just inedible. No one asked us why we didn’t eat our dinners but they did bring the $250 check promptly. Most expensive dinner I never ate… We will not return and will warn our family and friends to stay away. This place is just coasting on its past reputation. A sad end to a great legacy.

    Do it, ignore ignorant reviews
Historic hotel and restaurant that is worth the visit! Let me preface by seeing we are bougie foodies and seek out experiences and fine food: we travel for food and this is no exception. After a recommendation from a friend who goes the distance for GrayCliff we knew we had to come to the Bahamas. Upon reading the reviews we almost cancelled but wanted to get our own opinion and thank god we did. It’s lovely, the people are wonderful, the food is great as are the cocktails. If you are not used to spending $200 a person then I don’t recommend, come for the experience and try new things. Take a tour of the grounds and the expansive wine cellar. To early to enjoy a cocktail and hand rolled cigar everyone raves about. The only con the evening we went was they had two huge corporate parties they were accommodating , thankfully we went early and got our food order in. The timing was a little to be desired but we still loved sitting on beautiful patio and reading the history of the grounds. I highly recommend, and would bring friends back with us. Venture off the resorts and try out this beauty. If you like the Breakers or New Port you’d love this place.

Don’t miss this Historical landmark and restaurant!!
From the moment you are greeted at the gate, the personalized attention sets the bar. Was a welcomed change to be honest. This location was chosen to celebrate my birthday, so grateful to celebrate there. Ambiance = 5 Stars Historical Relevance = 5 Stars Wine Collection = Off the charts! Appetizer(s) = Mozzarella and Tomato, Conch Chowder were absolutely delicious Primary Meal - Lobster (Best on the Island) and the peppercorn filet = 5 Stars Dessert - the Birthday Cake (spiced) was delicious while the soufflé was beautiful (Chocolate and Banana) it was mild, thinking that combination of flavors cancelled each out. My fault for going that route instead of sticking to one. Literally felt like stepping back in time! It would have been very ideal overall had it been all adults, a child was a tad bit loud and her pitch echoed the dining patio. Unfortunately that would be my only ding. Excellent evening, thank you Graycliff!

    25th wedding anniversary
My wife and I hosted our family for our wedding anniversary at the Graycliff. If was wonderful. The setting is historical and romantic. The food is amazing and the service timely. Yes, it’s expensive, you should expect that from a five star restaurant, especially in the Bahamas where everything is more costly, but out experience was worth every dollar and the staff made us feel special and welcome. It’s also nice to go to a restaurant that has a dress code and enforces it. We look fwd to a return trip.

    Over the Top!
We had the Grouper and Sirloin --the food was exquisite! The steak was melt in your mouth tender and the fish and accompanying sauce were perfect. The service is over-the-top attentive. While we agree with the other reviews that this is a pricey evening it is a nice once-in-a-lifetime experience. There is piano music in the lounge where you can enjoy an before and/or after drink.

    Great time at Graycliff!
My girlfriend and I spent an afternoon at the beautiful Graycliff hotel and restaurant while our cruise ship was docked at Nassau. We had read a great deal about Nassau, the new port area, the streets, and the shopping, and we were not quite sure what to make of all the reviews. Some people even choose to stay on the ship in Nassau! We found Nassau to be quite lovely, and the people were kind. However, we are so glad that we booked a day pass at the Graycliff. The hotel has beautiful common areas reminiscent of the 1800s and colonial life in the Bahamas. The building has a fascinating history. The staff of the hotel/restaurant were wonderful, and the food for lunch was first-class and delicious! We highly recommend an afternoon at the Graycliff; it is such a welcome retreat from the modern cruise ship and the hustle and bustle of town. It is relaxing and wonderful.

    West hill street festival.
Great day with family at West hill street festival after a fantastic lunch at Greycliff, having the freedom to explore on an ATV was the best decision, we had a blast.

    Timeless Perfection
My 5th visit over a 15 year period and this place never disappoints... it still oozes luxury, excellence, and consistency after all these years. Perfect setting... great food, and unparalleled service. The best restaurant in Nassau and must visit on your next vacation.

    Incredible spot for fine dining!
Absolutely delicious meal topped with second-to-none service. Yes, the meal was very expensive, but if you know that going in, you’ll find the experience well worth it.

    Over
The food was over cooked, the wine list was over the top (they list vintages for wine I buy at my local grocery store in the US that is not sold by vintage) everything was overpriced for the quality, and the atmosphere was overly pretentious.

Historic Bahamian gem with amazing food!
One of the true gems of the Bahamas. Great setting with fantastic food in an old mansion. The food is truly amazing and a visit to the second largest private wine collection after dinner is highly recommended.

Wine luncheon was great. Only complaint is there is too much good food.
We did the wine luncheon on a Monday afternoon. You start with a tour of the wine cellar, which is the third largest private collection in the world. Then we had an amuse bouche with a sparkling wine cocktail, followed by soup, main course (steak and fish), cheese, and dessert. The food was very good and the service was even better. Well worth the time and money.

Beautiful space, overpriced food and drinks
We really loved the ambience of Greycliff. The food was also good, especially the lobster bisque. But there were a few detractors that they need to work on. Before we even opened the menu, for example, our server asked if we wanted to try the house cocktail and we agreed. At the end of the night when the bill came, we saw that these cocktails were $36 EACH. That's way, way too much for a cocktail, especially a cocktail of the caliber served at Greycliff. The service also was lacking for a place of this price point. We waited about 25 minutes after asking for the check, for example, and then I wound up just going to find our server and hovering next to him until he got the bill. When you're paying nearly $400 for two cocktails, a glass of wine, two mains, an app and a desert, the service should really be close to impeccable. Overall, a lovely place but not worth the steep price.

An oasis in paradise. The best restaurant in the Bahamas and probably one of the top 5 in the world.
Incredible food and great service. We have been visiting this wonderful establishment since the late 80s/early 90s. The quality of the food has not changed, which was refreshing. The owner and staff were most accommodating and friendly. Following this wonderful dinner experience was a delightful piano, trumpet and vocal presentation in the beautifully decorated lounge. A definite must do if in Nassau.

We did not stay here, but we did walk through the restaurant and gardens as well as visit the chocolate shop.

Even in the rain, the gardens were beautiful. I did see that there were various tours here (through the cruise ship) that involved making chocolate, touring the cigar store and having lunch or tea here. I think it would make sense to do some research and book something on your own. Graycliff is not a bad walk from the port or it would be a short cab ride.

They did not charge us to walk the grounds, and while we did, we saw the pool and several entrances to suites. It kind of reminds me of bed and breakfasts in Key West. I would look into staying here if we weren't on a cruise.

I did ask about the chocolate making/tour and it was kind of pricey. I think it was $50 per person. You can just buy one (or more) of the tasty chocolates. I tried a white chocolate with ghost pepper chili filling. It was not that spicy but it was tasty.

It is definitely worth checking out.
