About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- U4752THgregorym0 contributionsThe Place is a Bit of a DumpI am a cigar fan who smokes fine cigars, and had read about Graycliff in Cigar Aficionado magazine once or twice. I went to the store to view the cigars and do the cigar tour. The lady at the counter in the cigar shop pointed me to the back and said to go watch them make a few cigars. As I proceeded to the back, there were three people in there rolling cigars and multiple empty chairs. It almost looked like an abandoned operation. When I returned to the counter I realized that they have very few cigars for sale on display. The place is a tourist trap for cruise ships that has not been properly maintained for years obviously. Go there for the cheap pizza, but not the cigar tour.Written May 27, 2024
- clairecK1229HU0 contributionsPost Prices for Cigars and ChocolatesPost the prices for the cigars. Ridiculous to have to ask over and over again. The only one who knows the prices is the young man at the cash register. Come on Graycliff. What are you hiding? Same thing with the chocolates. I would have bought much more but everything was just a big question mark and I really didn’t have time to figure it out.Written January 31, 2024
- kristopherl5850 contributionsShadow of its former selfA friend stopped in ar my request and got me 10 cigars. I have smoked the Chateau Grand Cru for 18 years now. It seems following the death of Avelino Laura that quality has gone completely out the window. Cigars are spongy and under filled. Have trouble staying lit. Instead of getting them from the humidor, he said it took them a good 20 minutes. My guess is they had a subpar roller make them fresh. With these new full cigar bands its impossible to inspect before purchase. At $25 a cigar you are better served buying other premium smokes. The old Graycliff mare aint what she used to be.Written January 5, 2024
- gregjalapeno0 contributionsJust there last weekI bought a box of Maduro cigars. I didn't do the tour as I had been on other tours. As a cigar smoker, I found the cigar a pleasant smoke and mild I would and will buy them again EnjoyWritten November 30, 2023
- NYFrankT0 contributionsWell made cigars, don’t expect a deal, place is run-downThe double espresso is an interesting cigar, they had the larger 6” pyramid format, but you will pay for them, no different than if buying from your local retail outlet. Other cigar factories make it special to buy their blends on site. Not here. By the way, you have to walk through a dilapidated set of hallways and back entrances to find this place. Construction projects half finished, all to make it to the depressing ‘factory’, where I felt like I was a nuisance to the woman there - where I might have otherwise dropped some serious money on special boxes to bring home. The cigars were pretty good, well made, I enjoyed smoking a piece of the Bahamas by the pool.Written September 29, 2023
- Bluewater_4640 contributionsNice tour, disappointing cigars…We visited the cigar factory on a small tour and it was great. I’ve enjoyed smoking Graycliff cigars for years, and have bought them at the hotel store on past visits to the island. I recently purchased two for $52 from the store, and I should have checked they more closely. Once we were back in the vehicle and I was putting them away I found they were very dry and brittle. Needless to say I am very disappointed that I wasted that $$…Written May 14, 2023
- dadmedic0 contributionsAn experience I won’t get again. They advertise a factory tour. This consisted of a 30 second walk down a small hallway and a walk through the humidor. I watched a roller make 1 and he guided me in making 2. The whole thing took 15 minutes.Written April 15, 2023
- TheOnlyAli0 contributionsTobacco FailMy second cigar rolling lesson will be my last one. The facilities are in disarray. The tour guide is uniformed of the historical significance of tobacco in the region or the relationship between Cuba and The Bahamas. Our tour started at 3:45pm and ended at 4:02pm — cigar rolling lesson included. Leaves were from Nicaragua. They exhibited signs of mold on the spine. The instructors were from Cuba. In my group of 5, only 1 of us spoke Spanish and acted as a translator. The storage area and rolling area needs to be cleaned and organised. The instructors should not be allowed to smoke filtered menthol cigarettes—the smell masks the earthy warm smell of tobacco leaves. Throughout the tour and the lesson, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion Christmas songs blasted through all areas of the cigar factory to the point that we could not chat with each other. We asked for the music to be turned down. In short, this was probably one of the worst experiences I’ve had in Nassau. Such a shame that my friend’s 49th birthday was completely spoiled.Written December 9, 2022
- Joynsnc0 contributionsWonderful for all folksExcellent learning experience with friendly and knowledgeable locals eager to share their expertise! Rolling our own cigars was the highlight of the 5 day cruise! Highly recommend this location as you walk through Nassau. Once the doors open you can have a self guided tour amongst the property. Beautiful art and murals and tile. Perfect for a diverse party and space to sit in the open air or indoors and relax while the folks interested in cigars explore the cigar rolling. Our cigar rolling teacher was excellent! She didn’t speak English but was very eager to show and explain in motions and short sentences on what to do. Very great experience with her assisting us.Written November 11, 2022
- Pete M0 contributionsThey are buying fake CubansBought a Partagas #5 “Cuban”( one of my go to’s) for $62 hey I’m on vacation got 1/4 way into it as fake as fake gets. Buyer be wearyWritten September 22, 2022
- 347sm0 contributionsGotta time it rightCruise ships ruin the experience. But if you can avoid them you might be able to catch the ear of a friendly staff member. If you do not catch the tastinga they will let you 'tour' AKA peak in and watch the cigar rollers. Otherwise skip this all together.Written September 15, 2022
- sg7720150 contributionsResponse to Complaints Against Graycliff Resort & Cigar Factory, and ShopsI visit the Graycliff Resort & Cigar Factory nearly every year. I am at Cable Beach (almost) every April, since 1983. I participate in a cigar rolling lesson every time I visit Graycliff. The rolling lesson an incredible experience. As is smoking a (any) Graycliff cigar - and I have smoked all 33+ expressions of Graycliff cigars - and all are exceptional premium cigars. Regarding the reviewer who claimed he purchased "fake" Cuban Cigars from the Graycliff resort, I DISAGREE completely. The Cuban cigars sold from the Graycliff Cigar store on West Hill Street are genuine. I know this, because I purchase some every year, smoke them, and know the difference between genuine and fake Cuban Cigars. A fake can be spotted by the label, the quality of the rolling, the wrapper, the filler tobaccos, and the color of the ash. My very first cigar was a Cohiba Esplendido, my current favorite Havana is the Partagas D No.4, my two best cigars ever were the Graycliff Platinum series and Emerald series, and my current favorite Graycliff is the 30th Anniversary Cameroon. As Paolo Garzaroli stated in his response to the negative reviewer: Graycliff doesn't need, or want, to fake anything. Their reputation is spotless. I have smoked cigars with Mr. Garzaroli, rolled cigars in the Resort lobby with Avalino Lara, and enjoyed the Graycliff cigar happy hour in the Factory on Friday nights many times. Enrico Garzaroli's (whom I have not met) and his son Paolo Garzaroli's (whom I have met and enjoyed a cigar with several times) attention to detail and quality is meticulous. Their desire to provide the utmost quality and luxury in all they do is magnificent. I am returning to Nassau and Graycliff this upcoming April, and look forward to it immensely. And I look forward to smoking and purchasing cigars - both Cuban cigars from the Graycliff West Hill St cigarshop, and Graycliff cigars, from the Graycliff Cugar Factory store. So, to all: visit Nassau, you'll love it, and visit and experience Graycliff Resort & Cigar Factory, and their wonderful artisan shops - you'll relish the experience. Best, Stephen G.Written November 13, 2021

- ScottfromASU0 contributionsA Must Visit in NassauSpent several days at the lounge during our 10 day stay in Nassau. The property is beautiful with great indoor and outdoor smoking areas. The patrons and staff I met were so warm and welcoming. The sticks and conversations were amazing!Written June 19, 2021
- TippElle130 contributionsInterestingIt was very interesting to see the cigars being made by hand. We went here as part of a tour, but I wouldn’t go here if it wasn’t part of that tourWritten July 1, 2020

I took away one point because it was extremely hot in there. I don’t think the air conditioning was working.
Overall the tour, wasn’t very much of a tour. It literally was a walk-through of a hallway that lasted seven minutes at best. The hand rolling was fun and it was nice to walk out with your own product.
The best part of the tour for me was the rum tasting. Marcus was really cool and knowledgeable. Oh and did I mention the chocolate. Maybe chocolate makes everything better but it definitely enhanced the taste of the rum. We tried seven different Rums.

The cigar company is a short walk from the cruise port. You have indoor and outdoor seating where you can enjoy a hand rolled cigar and a glass of whatever you'd like. Excellent friendly staff with a welcoming atmosphere. Very enjoyable.

More than expected... told them they need to update their website information. We had tour of the cigar factory and history... unexpectedly we were taught how to roll our own cigars and got to keep 3 of them each. The 9 different rums and chocolate tasting was fun and very informative, even brought out a couple of extra rums to sample.

Great experience learning about the art of rolling cigars and the importance of selecting specific leaves on the tobacco plant for flavor. The employees were knowledgeable and friendly.

Is transportation provided from the cruise ship? Is there any chance of a chocolate making tour at the same time so my husband and I can do one tour each?
