I was urgently looking for a "surprise" private sail for a friend and her boyfriend who were vacationing on St. John. She had been going through some difficult times in her life and knew she would just love this...and she did! I wrote Morningstar on Wednesday, by Thursday, the next day, I had it booked. Thursday being Thanksgiving. Mike was so kind, helpful, sincere and just wonderful to work with. While I was not in St. John myself, but thousands of miles away, he seemed like he was there next to me plaining the whole thing. The best review I could give was getting some pictures from my friend on the sail, with a smile as big as the sun. First time I had seen a smile like that on her face in a long time. She also made mention of how wonderful the crew was! If you are looking to do a sail, private or otherwise, please call Morningstar Charters, you won't be disappointed!

Mike was the BEST captain. He is very knowledgeable about the island and knows all the best snorkel spots! He was very accommodating and made sure our comfort and safety came first! Will definitely do a tour with Morningstar charters when we come back. Definitely suggest this trip for anyone who loves to be on the water!

We had a great experience with Captain Mike and his nephew Beau. We spent the day on his power catamaran exploring the beaches around St. John. He picked us up at our resort, which was so convenient. He knows the area well and taught us so much about the history of the USVI. Even some stormy weather didn’t taint our day at all! We snorkeled with sea turtles, picked up lunch at Pizza Pi, and saw some amazing beaches. His nephew was a great bar tender. You cannot go wrong booking a trip with Captain Mike!

My wife and I went sailing with Captain Michael and have to say it was one of the best experiences of our life. This was our first trip to St. John so we weren’t sure how to experience it. Michael was courteous and informative. We were curious to better understand sailing and he walked us through the basics. He will let you get as involved as you want or you can just relax and enjoy the views.. He took us to some amazing snorkeling sights where we saw an abundant amount of marine life including turtles, mana rays and several types of fish. The beaches were very private and some were only accessible by water. We had very cold beer and were able to sample Captain Mike’s version of the Pain Killer and a refreshing lime and coconut rum drink…and did i mention the beer was ice cold!? We had a wonderful lunch from a local deli. All in all it was a perfect day. Not only did we get to see St. John from a new perspective but we also made a new friend. We would highly recommend the Morningstar and Captain Mike and will certainly book this trip again when we return to St. John.

This was our second sunset sail with Captain Mike. My two boys loved it so much. Mike spent time with them showing how the boat worked, let them sail, and engaged in their curiosity. The views were beautiful and Mike is great company. Thank you Captain Mike for a great evening out on the water. We will be in touch next time we are in St John.

We’ve sailed with Captain Mike and Morningstar three years in a row. What an incredible experience! Mike is professional, friendly, and the consummate host and captain! We visited some beautiful beaches and amazing snorkeling around the island of St. John. We’ll charter with him next time we visit!

We went on a 5 hour sail and snorkel with Captain Mike. This is the real deal if you enjoy sailing and snorkeling. Captain Mike will treat you the way you want to be treated. He is very knowledgeable and truly a pleasure to be around. I like to sail and he let me handle many of the sailing tasks-all fun. He took us to two snorkeling locations we hadn’t yet experienced after he asked us where we had been. The lunch was tasty too. We will check in with him again next time we are in St John.

Our day with Morningstar was amazing! Captain Michael spent his day making sure we got in all the fun and stops we wanted, the boat was stocked with all the amenities, he went out of the way to play the music we requested, and he was beyond knowledgeable about St. John, as well as so kind and courteous! I will be using Morningatar again and recommending to all my island friends!

Morningstar was the best day charter we have been on to date! Captain Mike and Bridget were so easygoing and flexible with what we wanting to do for the day so we were able to do a ton of fun things! I can't wait for the next time I am able to go out with them!

We had a wonderful, memorable day with Captain Mike on his boat sailing around St. John. We had been recommended thru mutual friends and decided to spend the day in St John while visiting on the Symphony of the Seas in December of 2022. From our very first communication, Mike was attentive, professional and kind. He has a lot of heart and warmth, which really added to our adventure! He even tried to retrieve my sun hat that flew off my head and fell into the water, but it was a lost cause. I thought that was really sweet. We had a bit of anxiety with leaving our cruise ship and the time difference, (not because of Mike but because of the ferry and taxis and making sure we got our ride home) but Mike was very reassuring that it would all work out. And he was right! :) He got us back to our ferry on time as planned and we arrived back to our ship with more than enough time. Mike provided yummy sandwiches and the best pain killers we had on our trip! They were seriously delicious! Mike provided the snorkeling gear and took us to two different bays to do some snorkeling. I would definitely recommend Morning Star Charters if you're in USVI! Thank you Captain Mike for a wonderful, memorable experience!

We booked a private sunset sail with Morningstar and it was the highlight of our honeymoon. Mike was AMAZING and provided everything that we needed. He showed us around the island as we viewed the beautiful sunset. There was an open bar and the drinks were soooo good! There were also snacks provided. We got to see huge sea turtles and different beaches. Highly recommend and would definitely book again!!

What a great day we had with Capt. Mike! Not only is he an excellent sailor he is a wonderful host. We were a party of 2 couples and had all been to STJ before. After making sure we were familiar with the boat and offering drinks & snacks he set out. As others have mentioned, Mike is a very good conversationalist so we immediately felt comfortable and relaxed. The weather that day was overcast & windy and the sailing was terrific. We stopped at Mary Point for some snorkeling and then returned to the boat for lunch, sandwiches from North Shore deli - a favorite of ours prior to this trip. They tasted delicious as we sat out a rain squall inside the boat. The rain soon cleared up and we headed over to Francis Bay where we snorkeled again this time with some sea turtles. The day was a highlight of what was a wonderful week on our favorite island. Oh, if you go (and you should) make sure to try Mike's signature painkiller, it will make you forget all your cares.

Just being on this great sailing experience with my group of six. Private. Capt. Mike was a wonderful a pleasure to have as our sailing guardian. Scotch Beach was very lovely and uncrowded. All goes a very special day.
