Depart St. Thomas or meet up at St. John for a visit to the smallest of the US Virgin Islands. Take in the history of the island as well as its majestic natural beauty on this half-day tour. See an old Danish sugar plantation, a national park, and various lookouts along the way.
Start by boarding a ferry that takes you across the short 4 miles (6.4 km) of water between St. Thomas and St. John, where your tour bus awaits you. With your local guide, stop first at the Virgin Islands National Park to take in beautiful mountain vistas, impossibly blue water, and verdant coastal greenery. Enjoy the panoramic displays of white-sand beaches meeting mountain forests at your next 2 stops, Caneel Bay and Trunk Bay.
At Annaberg, see the remnants of a 1780s sugar mill plantation. Wonder at the ruins of the factory, windmill, and slave quarters as you learn about the island's Danish settlers. Finish with a drive back to the ferry terminal for your cruise back to St. Thomas.

We were supposed to get 2 hours at the beach and only received 1 hour there. The tour of the island was nice but there were items we didn't need to see, such as the back of Kenny Chesney's house. The views where we stopped were beautiful. We talked to our tour operator, Kenneth, about stopping at the National Park Visitor Center on our way back to the ferry. He agreed to do it but only gave us 5-8 minutes there. Our only reason for going on our cruise and subsequently this tour, was to visit the national park as we are trying to visit all 63 national parks. It was a good tour, but we could have had more time at the beach as promised in the description. Also, you are able to get your National Park stamp at Trunk Bay. So you don't have to take the tour where you drive around the island unless you want to.Written February 4, 2025

- joib7900 contributionsIt was okay, but not worth the price since we didn’t do muchIt was an okay tour, but I expected to see more of the cultural aspects of the island. Our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We toured an old sugar cane plantation and spent time on the beach. The rest of the tour was just riding around the perimeter of the island looking at the beaches from a distance. I would have liked to have seen the town and get a sense of the culture there even though it’s a small island. Since we had to pay for our own ferry ride from St. Thomas, I really don’t think the price was worth what we did.Written January 6, 2025
- 15annettef0 contributionsCruise Ship Passagers Beware!We all know that if you’re on a cruise ship you have a time schedule i booked a tour with this company to go from St Thomas to St John’s. Tour was supposed to be from 9 AM-1 PM all aboard time for Princess was 4:30 PM. We was not put back on the Ferry from ST John’s until 3:00PM with a 20 minute ferry ride and a 30 minute bus ride back to the port! I was not happy about this but when I contacted the company I was called a racist, and a liar! They also claimed that Princess changed the port time which they did NOT! Was the same time when I booked the cruise! As you can read from the other complaints it’s never their fault! So learn from my mistake and read the reviews especially if your arriving by cruise ship!! I will attach my receipt for the tour in the picturesWritten December 31, 2024

- TXMama40 contributionsFun, active beach with lots to do!Awesome, active beach with tons to do. Play Volleyball, rent umbrellas & chairs, rent jet-skis, or eat at the restaurant. The beach had soft sand but the drop-off in the ocean is fairly steep and close to shore, so I wouldn't recommend it for young kids. Also the underwater area has lots of rocks so it can be hard to walk. But if you want to be around people and watch people having fun, this is a great beach to do it!Written March 28, 2024

I would strongly suggest ignoring the itinerary portion of the tour and working with your guide on the best tour for you as this is an expensive tour. For two people after the initial expense of the tour, feeding the pig ( we didn’t do it) which we wanted no part of but felt obligated by the rudeness of the restaurant to order something (pancakes) beyond the fruit punch we were going to order, the vodka distillery (really worth doing) the botanical garden (great) and the tip that Owen absolutely deserved, the day was approaching $400 for us. Loved the tour but that is a very big number for a tour of the island for 2 people.Written December 24, 2023

- Sylva S S0 contributionsVisit to St Croix Virgin Island - Relaxing on the beach, water is nice & warm, transportation very expansive, needs TLCBeautiful beaches very relaxing, Transportation very expensive, food is expensive, from one to another restaurant prices varies, not too much choices, by 9 pm the restaurants are closed, certain areas are sketchy to walk alone, you have to be very careful, felt unsafe. Very poor country with lots of signs of poverty. They only receive 1 cruise ship per week..not enough to help rebuild the economy. Very few sign of US Government help. Great experience for the price! Kenneth was great, really personalized our trip. He gave us plenty of time to explore the ruins, took pics of is at all the stops, and shared stories and history of the islands.

It was a great day trip to St John Island on the ferry. We were picked up at our resort on the east end of st Thomas and brought to the ferry. It was a short ferry ride to St John and our tour guide, Kenneth was great showing us interesting facts and history of St John Island. We got to check out the old Sugar plantation and also see some great photo ops opportunities up in the high points of the island near cinnamon bay and we checked out Maho Bay then spent beach time at beautiful Trunk Bay where even with just our goggles we were able to see some beautiful school of fish just swimming at about 4ft deep in the ocean.

We had a lovely tour of the Island with Kenneth, our tour guide. He shared a lot of interesting information and facts about the Island, surrounding Islands and its history. I would highly recommend this tour. You’ll get a lot of GREAT pictures and information.

We booked this tour through our cruise ship and it was well worth it! The ferry ride from St. Thomas to St. John was very informative. The crew narrated the whole voyage so we were well informed of the history of the surrounding islands. Upon arrival in St. John, we boarded open air vehicles to take us to the highlights of this beautiful island, where we saw gorgeous beaches. Hurricane Irma took its toll on this island and the ruins of several resorts and homes are still visible. The roads were in good shape, a little bumpy in some spots, but nothing bad. Our guide was very knowledgeable about every aspect of the island. Once back on board the ferry, we were again given more information by our crew. Well worth the trip!

Kenneth was great, very knowledgeable, and shared with us a lot of information as he took us around the island. We enjoyed the stop at the Sugar Plantation. Make sure you stop at Bake Shop, free samples are provided. The views of the beaches were great. However, it would have been nice to actually stop at one, though not included in the tour.
We did not stop for the hour at the national park, indicated as part of the tour was very disappointing.

We loved our tour with Kenneth last week. He shared a ton of great information about St. John and the surrounding islands and made several stops where we could get out and take pictures. It was an awesome way to see a lot in a short amount of time (about 1.5 - 2 hours). Highly recommend!

The tour around St. John which included driving through the national park, visiting several beaches and walking around an old sugar plantation was awesome. We have visited St. John before but never taken a tour. My husband and friends really enjoyed it as well. Kenneth was a very knowledgeable guide.

There are probably several tour companies that do this tour, but it is a great tour, giving you a taste of St. John and the beautiful National Park. There are a couple of stops with overlooks and then a stop at a beach. The tour guide made it interesting and fun. Want to go back and experience more of St. John.

Chris, our tour guide and driver was exceptional! He narrated us around the island and made stops so we could get out and take pictures. Chris was very knowledgeable and funny. The view of the pristine beaches was awe-striking!
