I have always been a little bit of a skeptic about ecotours having been on so many that really were not what they were supposed to be. However, Big Blue Collective is THE BEST I have ever done, and I would do it and all of their other activities again. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, and the group was out on the boat and hiking around Iguana Island for almost five hours. We saw so much sea life, and we learned so much. It was definitely worth the cost to do this kind of tour, and I highly recommend it on any visit to the Turks and Caicos.

Kaia led our group of 8 (reasonably fit/over 55 year old) guests through the mangrove estuaries and over to Iguana Island. We saw rock iguanas, sea turtles, baby sharks and more. Kaia is both knowledgeable and passionate about sea life and the Turks and Caicos ecosystem. The Big Blu Collective is well organized and uses sea kayaks for their trips. The tour lasted the full four hours with a break from paddling to walk around Iguana Island and enjoy a snack (provided by them) of fruit, baked goods and ice water. Plenty of sun protection and shoes for walking are must. They have a small selection of reef-friendly sunscreen, rash guards and large brimmed hats in their shop. It was an enjoyable outing that I would recommend to others.

My family went on the activity that included kayaking to the mangroves and iguana island on December 18th 2021. Our tour guide was Ali Oudman and she was the best! I would book a tour with her every time! She is super knowledgeable of exactly where to go in the mangroves, helped us spot so many turtles, and was so patient and let us stay in each area for a long time. She looked for a spotted a baby shark which made my 6 year olds day. Ali helped guide our kayaks along the correct path to get to and from the mangroves and iguana island safely and efficiently. She gave the best tour of iguana island along a long wooden path. She taught us that iguanas are territorial and stay near the same place, and she knew where most of their burrows were. We saw so many iguanas! (We did NOT feed them, as it’s not good to feed wild animals.) Ali brought each of us a bin of snacks - fruit, muffins, and my kids’ favorite a brownie! She was super nice and kind to my 6 year old son and 9 year old daughter. She’s great with kids. I can’t recommend this activity enough! It was the highlight of our trip to Provo for me!

We took the Kayak Eco Tour. We were a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 twenty-somethings. Our tour guide was Ali. She did a wonderful job telling us the history and ecology of Turks & Caicos, kept our kayaks safe during large winds, and pointed out all of the beautiful turtles! We had a wonderful time and highly recommend it.

Hands down the best kayak tour we have had. Being a ocean/beach loving families we originally wanted to rent kayaks and do self tour. Sherline went above and beyond strongly recommended against it on a windy day and asked us to check back again for our safety. We ended up booking a tour for the next day. Our guide Ally is fantastic, She is knowledgeable, easy going and great with kids. She guided us and saw everything (turtles, baby lemon sharks, birds, and more). My kids, 13 and 10 (boy and girl), and my husband and I absolutely loved every second of the 4 hours. And that’s after spending 2+ weeks at the Bright Reef snorkeling daily and have seen many many ocean creatures. Iguana island is out of the world kind of peaceful and beautiful. The iguanas are adorable. When we reached the Iguana island, a big iguana was patiently waiting for us on a raw and unmanned beach, sadly next to an empty soda can. People, leaving nothing behind except bubbles. TCI is so beautiful and we can’t afford to keeping on polluting the ocean like we have been. We got lucky and was the only family for our tour. I would say if your budget allows a private family your is worth the splurge. And definitely go with the tour if you never done kayaked in the areas.

Big Blue Collective's Kayak Eco Tour was fantastic! Definitely a worthwhile excursion for those looking to enjoy a bit of nature while they are on vacation in Providenciales. They conveniently picked up at my Grace Bay Resort since it is a bit outside the main resorts there. All equipment is provided, just bring a hat, towel, and water. They offer both tandem and single kayaks and a great guide (shout out to Nick) who knows where to find wildlife and is great at spotting them. He had a fun sense of humor and made sure the group of mixed experience all stayed together and got to spot wildlife. On our group's outing, we saw probably about 20 sea turtles, jellyfish, several lemon sharks, an osprey, live conch, lots of up-close iguana encounters, and interesting birds flying all around. The scenery you are kayaking through is jaw-dropping. Truly amazing lagoons and bays with crystal clear, turquoise water, mangrove forest, and beautiful beaches. They break up the trip with a short hike on iguana cay and stop for lunch on a beautiful beach. All around great trip and it is worth every penny. I would definitely recommend it for solo or group travelers who have a half-day to spare on vacation.

After a previous horrible experience with another charter company, we were very reluctant to try again. We were quickly reassured we had made a good decision when Big Blue called us 45 minutes prior to our trip to discuss options because high winds. They were very accommodating, considering the ages of the children in our group.
They went above and beyond to ensure they met some of our food sensitivities for the paddling trip snacks and prove to be very eco conscious by the use of Yeti water flasks and to go cups they supply.
Mark, our guide impressed us all with his knowledge of the marine life and plants and has a great eye for spotting turtles, sharks and other fish in the mangroves. He left a lasting impression with all the children and has a impressive memory with remembering names!
The facility, boats and kayaks are very well maintained. The staff and guides are all professional and polite. They also have a great shop with some very attractive apparel and hats.
I highly recommend Big Blue Collective!

Big Blu Collective offer a guided glimpse of nature in the turquoise wetlands of Princess Alexandra Nature Reserve. Our small group of 7 guests were led by a very knowledgeable guide through the mangrove estuaries and then over to the Iguana Island. As advertised, we got to see rock iguanas, sea turtles, baby sharks, birdlife and more. A great way to spend an afternoon. The Big Blu Collective is well organized and uses real sea kayaks (dual and single person) for their trip. No gimmicky clear bottom canoes. The tour lasted the full four hours. We had an enjoyable break wandering Iguana Island and Little Water Cay. A light snack of fruit and muffins kept our energy up on a hot windy day. Plenty of reef friendly sunscreen, a wide brim hat and rash guard is a must ( you can purchase at their reception office if you forgot) . Iced water is provided. You can certainly take a (waterproof) camera but using one is difficult while paddling. Highly Recommended Tour Group.

We were picked up at ClubMed. Our group was only 4 double kayaks. We did the 4 hour kayak which goes to iguana island (the 2 hour does not) and includes a walk on the island and snacks. I would rate the amount of kayaking moderate: not too fast, lots of rest time while seeing the animals. Crossing the channel does require about 10-15 minutes of some upper body strength/endurance.

Saw lots of turtles and iguanas but we know nothing about them. Our guide was not knowledgeable and only said there are 3 kinds of mangroves (white, black and red). Not sure why the turtles are there, what they eat, endangered? He even called a bird a pelican (which clearly was not) and we later learned it was a tri- colored heron. It seems an eco-tour company would ensure training of a basic level of information for their guides. Our guide was friendly and we felt safe.

My wife and I joined a small group totaling eight for the Eco tour. Our guide for the morning was Marcia. After a short briefing and overview of the Turks & Caicos islands, Marcia led us out in our tandem kayaks over to the nearby mangrove cay. Marcia did a spectacular job of pointing out a multitude of green sea turtles, a few elusive lemon sharks and a couple of stingrays. We stopped a few times throughout the mangroves where Marcia enthusiastically talked about the ecosystems found there. We learned a ton about the mangroves and the living things found there. Our next stop was a medium length kayak paddle over to iguana island. Loved to see the efforts being taken there to preserve the local reptile residents.

Marcia showed exactly how much she cared about the environment and her love of her job. She went out of her way to make sure we learned along the way and was patient with all of our questions. She deserves 6 out of 5 stars. 100% recommend if this is your first visit to TCI.
