      Refund Promised but still waiting...
We were very much looking forward to this excursion when we landed on Grand Turk as part of our cruise on Princess Cruise Lines. We were supposed to enjoy the day on Grand Turk on May 2, 2024 but alas the winds were too high and we, along with another ship at the same time, were not able to dock and enjoy the day, including the Great Salt Tram Tour that we had prepaid for. On May 2, as soon as the captain announced that the port call was canceled I sent an email to Island Trams to let them know the ship was not going to be docking so they could adjust accordingly not just for us, but everyone else that may have book a tour with them. I have had some interaction via email asking when my refund would be processed, but for the last 4 weeks I have heard nothing back, even after requesting an update weekly. I would not book a tour with this company until you are on the ground on Grand Turk - otherwise you will be paying for something you did not receive, and will not, at least not yet, get a refund. I had no control over the boat not docking. If I was able to get off the boat and didn't take the tour, then that would certainly be on me, but I cannot control the weather, nor force the captain of a ship to make an unsafe docking! Beware - you've been warned. That said, if I get a refund, I will gladly add that to this review.

An amazing tour tour, amazing island and an over the top bar
A great tour of the island. Our tour guy Doug was also the owner. We took the whole tour and at the end he drove us back to his favorite bar/restaurant the Sandbar. It had an amazing view right on the water with a deserted beach next door. His wife picked us up a a predetermined time that we gave her and got us back to the ship in plenty of time. Wish we could have stayed longer at the bar

Good Tour...do NOT book On Off!
Good! Hosts are great. Couples operation. Do NOT book the all day on/off. Book $25 two hour. There were 3 stops for pictures, sightseeing, etc . Island is quaint, rustic, etc. We didn't feel we needed to stay longer at any stop. Besides no guarantee during busy season there would be room for anyone who took the previous tram. Narration was great as Doug has lived on the island for many years. Sit away from engine...back of the first tram. Makes it tough to hear. We missed parts. Hurricane destroyed previous tram. This one works fine except for engine noise. Bumps will cause sound to go out but he gets it back on right away. Potholes! If you stop and donkeys are around, you can get pictures. Lighthouse stop...guy was selling carrots and you could feed them. Once we were done, got a short ride to Governors Beach. Beautiful! Beach chairs for rent. GREAT smoothies. Tour was worth the price. Again, don't bother with on off.

Scam, do not buy an All Day Pass.
The All Day Pass is a scam! When we left the cruise ship around noon, nobody from Island Trams was at the meeting point. Asking around we heard they already left port. An email asking for a refund has yet to be answered.

Tour Not Taken Due to Weather
Due to weather, our ship did not make port so we were unable to attend the tour. i expected a refund since the site indicated as much, but to date have not seen any indication of a refund. Odd I would be asked to rate a tour I did not attend.

      Grand Turk Island Tour
The tour is excellent, but I also missed my tour because the confirmation didn't specified the tour starting time, just say "Anytime". In general the tour is very entertaining and everyone having fun. Will do the tour again when come to Grand Turks next time,.

Enjoyed our 2 hour tram trip
Am glad we booked the tram tour. Enjoyed the two hour trip and commentary which was well priced. When booking online, I would suggest include a specific time and clear directions on where to meet. Also, the clarity of the tram microphone speaker could be improved.

      Amazing Tour!
This tour was amazing! Our tour guide was very informative, and he made it fun and entertaining. I read other reviews that it was hard to find, but they were close by when we got off the ship and took us right to where we needed to be. It was $25 per person, which was much cheaper than the other tours. I highly recommend it!

      Great around the island tour
Tracy our tour guide was outstanding. Great story teller. I do have to say finding the tram is a little hard for the first timer, but just keep asking folks where Tracy is and they will point him out.

      Greatest Tour Hands Down
Great escape from the tourist trap. We were able to see and enjoy the whole Island on a more personal level with a very informative tour guide. The views and the food was amazing plus we got to feed the donkeys which roam freely around the island. Thanks Tracy we really enjoyed the Grand Turks.

Good tour but the admin needs improvement
The driver was very interesting and informative and we thought the excursion was just about the right length of time. However, neither our QR code ticket or the meeting point information showed a time. The meeting point e-mail actually said ‘no particular time’ so we assumed it was a hop on hop off experience. When we got to the meeting point there appeared to be nobody there. We asked a few people and eventually one shouted to a lady sitting in a car. Apparently she was waiting for us because we had missed the tram by over half an hour. She drove us to catch up the tram.

      Ripped Off!
Our Holland America cruise was rescheduled from Grand Turk to Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. We notified Island Trams several times by email and by phone that we would be unable to go on the tour for which we had paid in advance, even providing credit card statements and email receipts to document that we had paid for the tour directly through the Island Trams website. The owner of the company first said he couldn't find our reservation, then said he'd look into it. It's been nearly two months since we informed Island Trams of our need to cancel and as of today, we still have not received a refund for the $53.

Tony's VIP Tram Tour - great value for money
We booked the Island Tram Tour on arrival at the Cruise Center paying US$20 per person for a two hour trip. The open sided tram provides a great opportunity for taking photographs as the vehicle moves slowly from the port to 'Downtown' passing the airport, several government buildings, a former US military base and some amazing views across crystal clear waters of the passage where the 2000 metre shelf turns the sea dark blue. Downtown is home to the National Museum, bars, stores and churches. We were lucky enough to see one of the Island's native donkeys with her foal on the beach before heading off towards the lighthouse via the Salina's - our guide providing interesting commentary on the former salt industry. There is a charge to go inside the lighthouse (It's a local National Trust building) but if you choose not to go inside you can buy refreshments and sit under the canopy until the tram departs and returns to your ship. The story about the Island's donkey population is very interesting and we were informed that the donkey's work out when a cruise ship is in port and make for the lighthouse where visitors share food and water with them. Nice to learn that they are protected and the locals care for them. Heading back to the Cruise Center we passed by more government buildings with brief commentary on each and we were provided with an overview of the Island’s financial support. All in all a great trip which left us with enough time to relax in the Cruise Centre.

We were really looking forward to a nice trip around the island to see some sites and hear about the island. We had to walk FOREVER to get to the tram, which was an open tram. We were excited about that aspect because that's why you go to an island, to be outside. Once the vehicle took off and the guide started speaking, it was clear we weren't going to hear a word he said as the motor was outside and exceedingly loud. The stops were all rushed and we weren't told upfront that there was a fee to get to the lighthouse, which was one of the stops we were most looking forward to. I would suggest checking out some other tours and make sure that you're able to hear and that you'll actually get time at the stops.

We appreciate your comments, are sorry that you did not enjoy our tour. Since your tour we have installed brand new audio systems to ensure guests can hear guides clearly. Being in a salty environment, electronics in particular require constant attention. Our Salt tram tour is 2 hours in duration with several stops, we also offer an all day pass, which allows you to hop on/off, explore at your own pace.

My experience was terrible due to lack of communication. I booked online and received emails confirming the trip. We arrived in Grand Turk and debarked the ship about 7:30 AM and knew they didn't open until 10 according to the website so we figured we would walk around the port and shop first.

We attempted to locate where they would be which is under the "Welcome" of the "Welcome to Grand Turk" when you first debark the ship but no one was to be found. We walked out to the Grand Turk entrance pavilion and asked around and they said Island Trams was located outside the gates. We walked out and saw the golf cars and ATV's. We asked some of the locals about Island Trams and said they park out here and should be along shortly.

We waited about 20 minutes. I turned my cell phone on to double check my e-mail and saw nothing but noticed the time had changed an hour. Thinking we were just early we waited until 11 ship time (10 local). I walked back to the "Welcome" sign and still no one. We walked back out to the gates again and waited. I tried to call the number in the e-mail and on the website. One said not a working number and other said unavailable.

There was another local sitting on a golf cart and were talking to him about it. He said he would call. He called the tram driver who passed us on. He said they were having mechanical issues and would refund. That was the end of it.

By this time the golf carts and tours were all booked up so we couldn't get anything in the moment so we went to the beach for the rest of the time.

I understand things happen. A notification or even a representative waiting to let people know goes along way as far as customer service. Unfortunately I've learned that paying more for the piece of mind for the cruise based excursions is worth it to me from now one.

We prebooked tram for 2/17/2023 for 4 adults. When we departed ship had to navigate difficult instructions to get where the pick up spot was. Once we figured that out we discovered that island Trams was no where to be found. Other companies at the sight informed us that they IT had not been there for days. A local called the company for us only to get unresponsive number. IT did send us email after the fact but has not responded to requests for refund. With limited access to email it was too late.

It was ironic that another company we had to book drove us right by the house or place of business where we noticed the IT tram.

Terrible service and lack of refunding our money

Our Island tram tour of Grand Turk, was the most disappointing tour we’ve ever had. We rode in the second car of a two car tram. Doug was our driver. The sound system was not working in our car, so we informed Doug of the problem. He said there were issues with it but he’d turn up the volume. We had to ask him a second time because we still couldn’t hear what he was saying. He said he was doing the best that he could. After our stop at the lighthouse, we still couldn’t hear what he was saying, but realized that there was nothing that he could do. In fact, at one point, he stopped the tram to adjust a new sensor that wasn’t working. It wasn’t clear whether the sensor was related to the audio problem.
Unfortunately, I didn’t check previous reviews prior to signing up for this tour. If I had, I would have seen that there was an audio problem reported in February. Obviously, there’s been no effort to correct this issue.
We really feel that this trip was not what we signed up and paid for.

Doug our tour guide gives a tour of the Island in their tram that is barely functioning. Almost got stranded but after being stalled for a few minutes luckily we made it back to port. Take some of the money from these tours and buy yourself a new microphone system. It functioned 50% of the time at most. Cost was reasonable- did not get beverage or free food samples as advertised.

Our family went on their tour on February 3, 2020. There were two adults and three children under age 11. The walk from the beach to the tour tram was fine and not difficult. The email from the company explained it well so we knew what to expect. My one complaint was that we were told to meet at the small tower by the beach at 9:15. We were there at 9:13 and the entire group had already left and were all boarded on the tram. We nearly ran to catch it, but we did make it.

The speakers were fine on the tram, we had no issues hearing anything.

The tour was informative and fun. We felt like there was enough time given in town and at the lighthouse to have a look around. We even bought some conch fritters in town and did not feel rushed.

For the price we paid, I felt it was a good value and a fine way to spend 2 hours and get a feel for the island.

This was an excellent simple tour of the island, starting at the cruise port (southern end of the island) to the lighthouse (northern tip of the island) and back. Our tram driver was excellent and provided good narration as we passed through the "downtown" area and all through the island. He gave brief histories on the various buildings, landmarks, culture, industry, and the stories behind the wild donkeys, horses and dogs that we saw along the way. The weather was perfect when I went, and the PA system also worked fine. I was in the 2nd tram car and had no problem hearing the driver. The stops (museum / gift shop, lighthouse) were very short, but that is the nature of this type of tour, so it was no big deal. This tour was a good value.

the one who drove the tram also served as the tour guide. he was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed listening to the history of grand turk. He was also nice and tried to give us a best experience in our tour though there’s not really much to see in grand turk ( very small undeveloped island) .

We bought a Hop On/Off from this company but they doesn't seem to have the ability to do that because there was only one tram. We waited the whole time for everybody to get which wasted our time (this was already 12NN) and this all day pass promised transport availability every 30 mins was not there. We wanted to start late that day and we ended up just staying with the rest of the group because they didn't give us any options or asked about what tour package we bought. I will only recommend this if you want to do the $25 tour, don't pay for the All Day Pass.

A very good tour of the island although a little late in staring. (Follow directions sent to find pick-up point for the tour, don't expect a big booth at the Cruise Centre, but it's relatively straight forward with the clear directions given.) Good informative commentary from Doug gives a real feel for the island. Perhaps a little more time at Cockburn Town would have been useful as visiting the small museum (well worth doing) was a bit rushed. Value for money was better than tours offered by cruise liner.
