Our favorite part of our experience was sharing two days with Michael (bird man) who opened his heart and shared his world with us. For the better part of two days, Michael took us into his personal and familial world where his love for Tobago and in particular the rain forest and its inhabitants shown through. Michael arrived early both days at our hotel near the airport and drove us the length of the island to show us the wonders of Tobago. Michael is truly one of its wonders. This highly personal tour of was customized to our interests. Our first interest was the rainforest and its wonderful birds. As Micheal made his way through the forest the birds seemed to call to him as a friend and called back. He pointed out birds and inhabitants that were invisible to our eyes and the forest came alive in front of us. A trip to the rainforest without Michael would have yielded a dense and diverse place but without subtlety.
The second day was a tour of the island to secluded places that few tourists see including the island of Little Tobago and Angel Reef.
Don’t miss the opportunity of a lifetime. Travel with Michael, the bird man of Tobago.

I had a fabulous time bird watching in the rain forest and also touring the island. Michael is an absolute expert in locating rare birds, knowing the habitat they like to spend time in and then luring them through his calls. It is incredible when they appear on cue. He spots them in the thick forest canopy with the naked eye, where I still required his help to visualise them through my binoculars. He points out nests and his research in the forest on a regular basis means that he can show you nests with young in and knows where birds have been spending time. His island tour is tailored to your interests. He is easy to get along with, professional and has a wonderful sense of humour.

Micheal picked us up from our hotel and took us into the rainforest. He hears the sound of some of the most secretive, exotic birds in Tobago, communicates with them and brings them into view. This guy can literally charm the birds from the trees.
He is clearly passionate about birds and loves to share his extensive knowledge with the people he shows round. His enthusiasm is infectious.
He also showed us round many of the beaches and took us to Fort George and the Argyle Falls.
Micheal is great company. He’s very courteous, kind and insightful about life on the island.
Tobago is great, but book yourself a trip with Micheal and make your stay here even better.

We had a great day with Michael touring the rainforest. He was so informative about the history of Tobago as well as the natural environment. When they call him Birdman, it is on point. We saw so many different birds on this tour it was amazing. He knows where they nest and can identify them by their calls. Make sure to bring socks to wear under your boots, and you definitely need the boots! He was on time, communicated well and we would book again if we return.

We took a tour with Michael in August 2022, of Argyle Falls. He was extremely knowledgeable and very patient with us. Some of us aren't very fit - but Michael never rushed us. He reassured us that everything was fine, and that we were doing great. He has a great sense of humour and after the tour, we all agreed that it was worth it. Thank you, Michael!

So glad we found this amazing guide, Michael the Birdman. His knowledge and love of local birds/nature is outstanding! And he is funny also. We had a full private, customized tour filled with fun, laughter, & learning. First, a tour of the total east coast. Then to the Rain Forest Reserve to spot unusual birds and later to a hummingbird farm, and finally to the top of Little Tobago Island, and snorkeling at Angel Reef, ending with a family-style meal at the Tree House. We spent some quality time with Michael (Birdman) in the rain forest yesterday. It is clear that he has a passion for birds. He was able to identify all the birds we saw ,and has a keen skill in finding them in their environment. He willingly shared lots of valuable insights into their habitat and behaviours. A very friendly and flexible tour guide.
