          Great experience
We had great time learning about the plantation and how the chocolate is made. For those who are afraid of cramp spaces and critters, the cave portion is not for you…..

          Beautiful!
Lovely beach. Very choppy waves. We asked a taxi driver ahead of time to take us there and back for a fee and found that it was cheaper than booking a tour. We had a lovely time! Lots of food options on the beach as well,

          Wonderful trip!
This tour was awesome!!! Our tour guide, Dominic, was lovely. He did a fantastic job explaining history, fun facts and lots of other stories. During the drive, he stopped at a few lookouts to show us amazing views and even bought us a local treat. The hike was lovely and Dominic did a fantastic job at accommodating our abilities and making sure we were all comfortable. Once we finally reached the waterfall, Dominic was a fantastic photographer and went out of his way to make sure we had plenty of great photos. I would recommend bringing waterproofing shoes or wearing flip flops on the hike as you will mostly be traversing through a river. After the hike, we were able to spend a couple hours at a gorgeous beach and grab lunch and drinks at a nearby bar. The whole experience was lovely and I would HIGHLY recommend.

Great Day in Trinidad to remember a lifetime
All the best to say about Dominic, our guide. Picked up directly at our Hyatt Regency (and early, no less.). Picked up one other gust at Brix Marriott. Very nice 2 hour drive through the island to our destination with a few momentary stops with locals roadside. 20-30 min walk through the riverbed and we arrived to the beautiful Avocat with no one in sight lone us. Very nice 8 hour excursion to recommend. (water shoes should be worn due to amount of sharp rocks required normally)

          Dominic is the best!
Dominic was a fantastic guide to Maracas and Avocation falls! He is very knowledgeable about his island and the excitement to share it with us was infectious! He was also very relaxed and would go at our pace. We would definitely recommend him to anyone visiting Trinidad!

          Cannot top this tour!!!
This was an exceptional experience and we would highly recommend this personal guided tour by Dominic, who is more than just a tour guide. He is the owner and he loves this. We started with a pick up at the Brix, and had a coffee and an overview of what to expect on this tour. Dom was thorough, and friendly as we were his only couple today. After making sure we were properly outfitted with good water shoes and a dry change of clothes, we headed up the winding mountainous road toward the waterfall area. The journey to the jumping off point took about two hours. It was an amazing drive with a couple of lookout stops along the way, where photo opportunities were plentiful. Passing through the old Cocoa plantation was quite interesting, as was Moosh, our caretaker and facilities host as we prepared for the hike to the waterfall. The actual hike through jungle and up the riverbed is serene, but at times presented some mild physical challenge. The first gaze on the waterfall made the journey so worth it with an amazing swim! Our next stop was Maracas Beach at Uncle Sam's Bake and Shark, which is basically a fried fresh as it comes fish sandwich with all of the trimmings and unusual sauces you wish on your sandwich. Awesome! The ride back included some light rain and a stop at the happiest trinket and fruit stand on the island. Cannot say enough, this tour cannot be duplicated. You simply must try it.

          Family Day Tour of Lopinot
My family splits its time between North America and the twin island Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. After discussing some fun activities to do with the kids for the summer, my wife suggested we do the "know your island" experience and visit all the attractions we would recommend to our North American friends. Today's trip took us to Lopinot, which is part of the Northern Range of Trinidad. There's a lot of rich history and heritage there going back to the days of the sugar plantations. Ironically, sugar cane didn't do well in the area, so Theobroma cacao (cocoa trees) were planted, from which we get cocoa powder and chocolate from the bean (cocoa pod). The tours are led by very experienced guides who know the history of the area. Our guide, Donna Mora, did an excellent job in sharing the history and heritage of the Estate. We were able to see how the beans are processed in order to make the cocoa powder and chocolate. There's ample to sample from, whether to eat directly from a bean pod, drink a cup of the cocoa tea, or devour one of the 65% dark chocolate bars. The tour of the Estate includes a visit to the Gomez Cave and a walk-through of the actual plantation where the trees are. This was fun for the family, especially the kids. We left the city at 7:30am, after making the relevant (and necessary) runs to Starbucks. It was an easy drive into the hills, which took roughly 1 hr and 10 mins. We started the tour at 9am and ended at noon. Truthfully, we could have stayed longer had there not been the need to be back in the city in the early afternoon. Be sure to check out Restuarant Mariposa while you are there. You will not be disappointed. I'd rate this tour and experience 10 out of 10 for the scenery, the interactions, and the overall warmth of Donna and her team. It's well worth the time, and we look forward to doing this again soon.

          An Unforgettable, Adventurous Journey! 👍👍
Absolutely AH-MAZING! And, tour guide, Dominic, saved my birthday!! ☺️ Once I realized the other company (Avocat Waterfall Tour & Beach Stop *Package) was a devastating no show, Viator was able to quickly reserve a last minute booking with DOMINIC from LOS EXPLORADORESTT Tours for the Avocat Waterfall Tour & Beach Stop **ADVENTURE👍👍 so that my birthday would not be ruined. My Avocat Waterfall tour got underway upon Dominic's arrival at my Hilton hotel and the rest was nothing short of spectacular! I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER COMPANY to go with! Anyone would be entertained with everything from their knowledgeable and professional guides, to the skilled driving of the intricate roads and scenery leading to Avocat Falls! Upon arrival at the parking/changing location, the walk along the dirt road was uniquely humbling with a nostalgic resemblance of simpler times. Dominic was such a joy to follow, as he cautiously navigated our treck from the dirt road, to the rain forest, and through the knee-high river; allowing me to take in all its natural beauty along the way! When we reached the destination, I stood in awe to take it all in. I even took Dominic's advice to fully delve into AND BEHIND the falling water!! Oh, how refreshing it was!! My Avocat Waterfall Tour was a breathtaking and exhilarating journey that should be experienced by anyone who can truly appreciate, with an open mind, and enjoy a new adventure or even a repeat one! Doh worry! Dominic and his Los Exploradorestt Tours team will lead the way! 😊

          Not too bad
The beach was nice. I really liked the concession area where you can get their signature Shark Bake sandwich. I'd say the beach was quiet enough to lounge around or if you come with a crowd you can make it a more lively experience. Either way there was plenty of beach for everyone.

          Awesome Tour and Amazing Waterfall
Dominic was an awesome tour guide. He was patient, knowledgeable, and just an all around fun person to spend the day touring with. He showed us multiple sites along the way and was a great photographer/videographer for me. Just fyi make sure you pack a change of clothes and shoes you don't mind getting wet. It was a great hike and the waterfall was worth it. I highly recommend him and his tour company if you are looking for something fun to do in Trinidad and Tobago.

          Interesting, relaxing, and educational experience
The tour operator who picked us up from our bed and breakfast was prompt and helpful, and we enjoyed the scenic drive to Lopinot. We arrived early for the official tour of the plantation and thus had time to do some macro photography of butterflies, flowers, bees, and a baby praying mantis within the plantation grounds. We enjoyed seeing the plantation structures, including the grave site (Compte de Lopinot) and hearing spooky tales. We especially liked the walk within the cocoa trees and eating the fruit around the cocoa beans of a freshly picked cocoa pod. We appreciated the chocolate-making demonstration and explanation, the cocoa bean dance, and the chocolate sampling. The plantation tour guide was enthusiastic and energetic, which added to the enjoyability of the experience. A highlight for us was the visit to a cave with fascinating creatures, which ended the tour.

          Not a Tropical Paradise.
I thought Trinidad was going to be a typical tropical paradise island but it was far from it, it was more an industrial urban town with no beaches unless you were willing to drive many miles to find one and when you did the beaches were really crappy.

          Excellent beach
Maracas Beach is always a must do thing whenever I visit Trinidad. It’s a beautiful beach, with coconut trees, white sand and clear water. And of course, there are Shark n Bake sandwiches, which are always a treat, washed down with a cold Carib beer! Go spend the day. Swim, sunbathe, people watch and eat. You will love it!
