Great day out in St Vincent with taxi driver Austin (Soul to Soul Taxi & Tour), we were a couple and Austin filled his taxi with four other people and we went around the east side and up to the Mesopotamia Valley, around the new airport, a stop at Brighton Salt Pans, another 45mins stop at Villa beach (overlooking Young Island) for a swim (others just got a beer/snack at the bar) then onto the Botanic Gardens, during the trip we learnt so much about the island from Austin. Botanic gardens is a $5 entry fee person and $6 each for the guide which was brilliant value for money as we learnt so much about the gardens and their history. Austin got us back early afternoon to our cruise ship, so plenty of time to spare before the ship departed. If you are visiting St Vincent, please dont hesitate to use the local taxi drivers inside the port area, they work so hard and ensure you have a great day out, better value than the cruise ship tours, you are in a small group and get a personal tour and most importantly you are helping the local people rather than increasing the profits of the cruise!
