Our guide Lisa was very informative and showed us the highlights
Balata was nice, but st pierre was a real highlight.
The visit at depaz was a welcome break stunning views in the open and a little walk around the premises
Drinks and self-baked cake at the beach was good.

A fantastic green island tour with a new female guide who shows everything. Well organised tour. Be advised...first go to the north and the beach at the end.
The tour gives a good impression of the north side. The stop at the black beach is only 30 min so to short to change cloths and swim. On time back at the cruise port!

I was lucky to attend the half day tour to the northern parts of Martinique. I had sent message to Gobeyondbeach by FB Messenger, asling for any available tours for a solo traveller, and Leslie kindly kept me on mind, and contacted me when she had a couple that was interested on the same trip too.

We had the pleasure of having lovely Maryam to drive us (very cafefully) around. She spoke fluent English and gave us loads of interesting information of the history, and she was able to answer all of our questions. Was a wonderful tour with breath taking views. She even took us to a second rhum distillery, since the first one was doing renovations and was not offering any tastings. Maryam took very good care of us, she had juice and water cooled for us, and the pace of doing things was very relaxed, and she listened to our wishes and made them true. The car was new and very comfortable, and all and all the tour was well worth the price. I can warmly recommend them, especially if you are not interested in driving yourself on the tiny, curvey roads of Martinique.

Arrived by cruise ship in February. Driver/tour guide was over half an hour late. Kept us waiting in the rain at the pier. Did not get off to a good start. Kept being told that he's coming by other staff of the same tour company. Tour was okay, only 5 of us in a mini van. Difficult to hear if you're seated at the back. With such a small group, no flexibility in the itinerary. It was on a Saturday and the whole town was closed. These small islands complained cruise ships not bring them any benefit but yet all shops were closed. It's difficult to spend money to help boost the economy if you do not open for business! The weather was terrible and was raining on and off all day, heavy at times. Both the tour company and the tour is not recommended and in fact, you may skip this island.

Hello, I think that you made a mistake in your review... We never ever had 1 hour delay! We are always at the cruise port ready at least 30min in advance, so at 8:30am for regular departure at 9am. Be careful of local time and the hour on some cruise ships, not always the same! Moreover at the cruise port of Martinique there are tents, so impossible to wait under the rain! Concerning the itinerary, if it really was our tour, in respect to all the guests, we can't change the itinerary for just someone... concerning the stores in the downtown, they are open in the morning not in the afternoon on saturdays. Sorry, but we are not responsible for that! Also not responsible for the bad weather... if we can pay the sun to always shine during our tours we would do that...

This unforgettable 5 hour tour was a highlight of our cruise. Swimming at a black sand beach and waterfall, visiting a rum distillery, touring a city destroyed by a volcano, and driving through a rain forest were all part of this excursion. Our guide, Michael, was personable and knowledgeable. He not only explained the island's history, but also the uniqueness of Martinique today. Highly recommended for all visiting Martinique for the first time.

We were on a cruise ship, with only 8 hours to spend on an excursion, and I was apprehensive about how well I could navigate without French or kreyol speaking skills. I investigated excursions listed on the tourist bureau website and logged into BtB. The site is easy to search, and I appreciate they had a section for Cruise Line Passengers. We chose the North Island Tour.

The tour lasts 4-5 hours by comfortable mini-bus. The windows allow for full views, seats are standard size. This particular tour leaves Fort-de-France heading north on tight windy roads into the rain forest, exiting at St. Pierre on the coast. The rest of the tour travels along the coastal road, closing the loop back at Fort-de-France.

Our guide narrated in English and French, although using the on-board PA system made his voice hard to understand. Stops were made at Catedral du Balata, Cascade Saut Gendarme, St. Pierre, Dupaz Rhum distillery and the black sand beach of Le Carbet. While at Le Carbet, we were treated to rum punch and butter pound cake - very delicious.

There are shortcomings to the tour. Be prepared for the curvy roads, especially if you get carsick. The amazing panorama of the rainforest is limited to 2 stops. At the Cascade, you must descend 25 feet on varied stone steps and cross a shallow stream - a challenging feat for older guests. St. Pierre requires some walking around preserved ruins, and there is no shade. The visit to Depaz is a nice break to the drive, but the tasting was inadequate. You might get a swallow of two liquors. The stop at Le Carbet takes advantage of a food truck serving pub food and beer - bring 20 euros or equivalent USD for a lunch. Swim wear is an option if you want to splash under the cascade and take advantage of the stop on the black sand beach (about 45 minutes total).

The tour provided a cursory view of the north part of Martinique, and I was happy to deboard. I estimated a 30% savings compared to the ship's tour package, plus I am certain our guide was local.

We were in a group of 6 in a mini van, and our guide (i believe his name was Edward), did an excellent job, informing us of all the important facts and history of the island. He did have a bit of heavy French accent, but he went out of his way to explain everything clearly. The only reservation i had about the tour is that the van used for our tour provided limited visibility from the narrow windows, and going in and out of the back row was a bit difficult.
