      Okay
Driver was great. Tour guide was not a wealth of information:( Stops were too short, we were not given much, if any, information about where to go and how to make the most of our time in a location. Seemed like a big ☑️ list.

Food Safari - Shore Excursion from Royal Clipper Cruise Ship
Joshua was a wonderful guide. He was fun, enthusiastic, and very knowledgeable about Fort de France. Our tour was booked through our cruise line as a shore excursion and we didn’t know what to expect but we were glad we took the tour with Joshua who gave us tons of info and background about the town and island. He was even telling the other tour guide we passed some info that he didn’t know. I think that the food we sampled was average but we were doing a morning tour and it was probably hard to have food for us in the morning. We sampled sugar cane juice which was very sweet but refreshing on a very hot day. We had some sort of meat empanada which was tasty (fried). We went to a spice market and had time to our own to wander around. We went to a pastry shop and got to choose a pastry to our own liking. Last we went to a place for a typical breakfast which was cod and banana with some apricot juice to drink and also some rum to drink. The meal was decent but I probably wouldn’t order it on my own. One thing to note is that Joshua gave us all a bottle of water before the tour started which was great. I noticed the two other groups didn’t have water so I think he did that on his own which was very nice with the heat.

      Poor communication and oversold.
Firstly, they sent us information to meet at a hotel which was a $20 cab ride away. Everyone else was apparently giving information to meet at the cruise port dock. Once finding a Trip Advisor rep to take us back to the dock, we waited in the small bus for an English speaking guide to show up. Trip was delayed 20 minutes. Then they waited another 15 minutes at the first stop, church, for late people to catch up. Same couple was late at the 2nd stop. Stops were not memorable. I wish we had known they would not be taking us to the botanical garden.

      Not that great
We waited more than 30 minutes for the tour bus. When it arrived, we found other passengers from a previous pickup on a small bus, and they weren’t happy. Why? Because the air conditioning on the bus didn’t work. I sat in the bus for about 5 minutes while random people voiced their concern over safety due to the heat. The tour guide brushed off our concerns and said it was much hotter on the beach. However, the beach has wind and water to cool you down. This had nothing and no open windows. I decided to leave, and I told them ‘I can’t do five hours riding around in that heat.’ Others joined. Within a minute or two they announced a new bus was coming. This was a coach bus (full size) and had working Air Conditioning. We were on our way. Our first stop was some market with little shops all around. Some sold chocolates made on site. Others sold sea shells or clothing or pottery. We had 15 minutes here. It was nothing special, but if you want some souvenirs then I guess it was alright. Our second stop was a beach. We were told that we would have 45 minutes originally, but due to heavy traffic it would just be 30 minutes. One woman voiced a mild comment about it being less time. So the guide extended the time back to 45 minutes. The beach was pretty. It was in a cove and had a few shade trees. No umbrellas to rent. There was food, but we didn’t look around. They gave us homemade cake and some juice with a splash of rum. I saw a few coral and a few colorful fish. This was the highlight of the tour, and it was too short to enjoy much. Our next stop was a market for 15 minutes. I didn’t even get off the bus. I don’t need to rush through shops to scavenge for anything, especially when all of these local shops often have all the same stuff. Next we stopped 10 minutes at a memorial statue to honor the slaves unchained. We snapped some beautiful pics of the shore, the memorial, and diamond pointe. Then we boarded the bus for our last stop. It was at a rum factory, and we had about 12 minutes to taste rum, buy some if we wanted, and go to the restroom. I hate these stops because it seems like nothing more than an opportunity to save 10% on some rum that I can more easily buy at home without lugging it around the world with me. So, in conclusion, that was 97 minutes of stops on a 300 minute tour. So if you want to spend hours on a bus making tiny pointless stops with little beach time, then this is the tour for you. Kinda disappointed that I wasted my day in this tour. I didn’t feel like I got value out of it. Senior citizens may enjoy it. I’m not sure.

What a scam and tourist trap!!!!!
I will start by saying that the guide was kind and professional and that this tour was planned by her company and not by her. First of all the last row in the bus had zero windows. The couples in the back were very upset unable to see anything. This tour is a gigantic tourist trap disguised as a tour of the Southern part of the island. Yes, we stopped at a memorial for slaves, we made a quick few stops to view the ocean and a trip to the beach. Most people lament in their reviews on Tripadvisor that the stop at the beach is way too short since it's the best part of the excursion. Read their reviews. It's the first red flag. Beyond the Beach is way too busy trying to drop you off at one of the tourist traps since they probably profit one way or another from the stop??? Why stop at a pottery village closed on Sunday??? Almost every shop was closed??? No one on the bus was impressed and it was a very poor begining of the tour. We also stopped at a market which sold fruit, vegetables and over priced tourist souvenirs. Lastely, we stopped at a rum factory. There was no tour, no explanations on how rum was distilled. They pour you small shot glasses hoping to sell you something. Do yourself a favor and skip this excursion which was by far the worst one on a otherwise very nice Caribbean cruise. Many people on our tour were very upset.

The itinerary and views were fantastic. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and professional. We enjoyed being part of a small group rather than a full coach.

A terrific way to see and learn about Martinique!
A terrific way to see and learn about Martinique! There were 6 of us in one van and we toured the Northern part of the island due to our ship docking there. We did nature walks, learned about the history and sipped rum! Our guide Bryce was a wonderful guide and obviously loves the island. Coordination with HQ with pick-up was excellent. We got a taste and now want to come back for a longer time!

      Outstanding tour.
Outstanding tour. This was our first visit to Martinique and marveled at the beauty of the island. Our excellent tour guide, Stephan, gave us a history of the island as we experienced the beautiful drive around southern Martinique. This is not a tour to be missed if one is on a cruise ship or holidaying in Martinique and want to see more and learn about the island.

Great Tour with BEYOND THE BEACH
The day started with everyone being totally wet by the rain as we got there. I think there was some issue with the car and the guide had to get another mini bus for us. I appreciated the fact we were never left alone even if we had to wait a bit. It was very crowded and my wife got a bit anxious but the staff was very nice and competent as we understood that they were doing their best. And now for the tour, it was absolutely wonderful. Our guide was lovely, nice and had so much knowledge that we learned a lot. At the end of the day we were so happy that we had no regrets. We loved it!

      Amazing! Must Book with Stephane!
What a tour! We LOVED Stephane. He was truly so incredible as our guide through Northern Martinique. Our first stop was the Balata gardens in Fort-de-France. Immaculate, magnificent botanical gardens with suspended walkways high into the trees. Then stopped at the Alma River. A very tranquil place in the rainforest - would have loved to have a little picnic here! We wish we would’ve stay at this location longer it was just so wonderful. Lastly we went to St. Pierre to see the ruins from Mt. Pelée, the volcano that erupted on May 8, 1902 killing more than 30,000 people in the city of St. Pierre within minutes. Stephane went above and beyond making us feel like royalty and really diving into the history and beauty of Martinique. I highly recommend this company and especially Stephane as a tour guide!

      5 star tour company
What a top notch tour company run by Leslie ! She was always communicating to us and working with our needs . They were waiting with a sign at the exact time requested by our cruise ship. We were 2 couples in late 60’s 2 of us hurt our backs ( dragging luggage ) and our amazing tour guide Stephan was thoughtful and did everything to help us enjoy the tour . He was kind , happy and clearly loves this beautiful island . Do not hesitate to book this company 5 stars 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Thank you Sandi and Stuart Teller

Excellent Private Tour of the North Island
I recently hired Beyond the Beach for a private tour of the north island and could not have been happier. My guide Nathalie was excellent. She was a wonderful source of knowledge about the island, and she was a careful and safe driver on the north island’s very curvy mountain roads. I wanted to focus on Saint-Pierre (ruins, museum), as well as Jardin de Balata, with stops at Le Saut du Gendarme and a beach near Le Carbet. The tour was exactly as I had hoped, and I had a wonderful time. I highly recommend Beyond the Beach if you are looking for a private tour on the island.

Arrived by cruise ship in February. Driver/tour guide was over half an hour late. Kept us waiting in the rain at the pier. Did not get off to a good start. Kept being told that he's coming by other staff of the same tour company. Tour was okay, only 5 of us in a mini van. Difficult to hear if you're seated at the back. With such a small group, no flexibility in the itinerary. It was on a Saturday and the whole town was closed. These small islands complained cruise ships not bring them any benefit but yet all shops were closed. It's difficult to spend money to help boost the economy if you do not open for business! The weather was terrible and was raining on and off all day, heavy at times. Both the tour company and the tour is not recommended and in fact, you may skip this island.

Hello, I think that you made a mistake in your review... We never ever had 1 hour delay! We are always at the cruise port ready at least 30min in advance, so at 8:30am for regular departure at 9am. Be careful of local time and the hour on some cruise ships, not always the same! Moreover at the cruise port of Martinique there are tents, so impossible to wait under the rain! Concerning the itinerary, if it really was our tour, in respect to all the guests, we can't change the itinerary for just someone... concerning the stores in the downtown, they are open in the morning not in the afternoon on saturdays. Sorry, but we are not responsible for that! Also not responsible for the bad weather... if we can pay the sun to always shine during our tours we would do that...

We were picked up straight off our cruise at the port and had a great time visiting north Martinique taking in the national park a rum distillery and historic town which had suffered a catastrophic volcanic eruption. Our tour guide (Joshua I think) was great, speaking French and English fluently and knowledgeable on the history and nature of the island and the whole tour was at a relaxed pace in an air conditioned minivan. Highly recommended and for us a small group experience like this always beats a cruise ship coach tour !

A fantastic green island tour with a new female guide who shows everything. Well organised tour. Be advised...first go to the north and the beach at the end.
The tour gives a good impression of the north side. The stop at the black beach is only 30 min so to short to change cloths and swim. On time back at the cruise port!

Nice tour of the heavy terrain and up the volcanic hills. The tour guide spoke English but her accent was very heavy and hard to understand. Overall, Martinique is really for French speaking folks. The four stars is for the tour not Martinique, though.

We could have skipped the beach stop and the rum plant, although the views from the latter were beautiful.

So very happy we booked this tour!! We were on a cruise and the cruise line had to cancel all excursions in Martinique booked through them due to a transportation strike and some major roads were blocked. Our tour had to go through some back roads of Martinique but we got to see more of this beautiful island. Lisa our guide was very knowledgeable and informative. There was quite a variety of things to see and there were plenty of stops! We especially enjoyed the rum distillery and the waterfalls and the history of the volcano eruption.

Great Tour. It is exactly as described. Our tour guide was Shana. She gave us a clear and comprehensive overview of the Island. She sounded just as excited to be on the tour as we were. We enjoyed the delicious complimentary Island refreshments provided. Ample amount of time was provided at each stop for the activity described on the website. However, if all you want to do is take amazing pictures and let your feet touch the various water/beach spots, you’re free to do so. Our driver, Marseille, was quite skillful. They were all professional and kind. You can definitely get a great overview of the island of Martinique with this tour. No regrets… Book it!

The tour was fantastic! The island is quite big ,so it is impossible to do the full island in one day. The north is very interesting, St Pierre ,the old capital destroyed by the eruption of the vulcano is amazing. It is a complete tour and also the stop at the beach is amazing. Our driver was very good and she knew a lot about history!

I was lucky to attend the half day tour to the northern parts of Martinique. I had sent message to Gobeyondbeach by FB Messenger, asling for any available tours for a solo traveller, and Leslie kindly kept me on mind, and contacted me when she had a couple that was interested on the same trip too.

We had the pleasure of having lovely Maryam to drive us (very cafefully) around. She spoke fluent English and gave us loads of interesting information of the history, and she was able to answer all of our questions. Was a wonderful tour with breath taking views. She even took us to a second rhum distillery, since the first one was doing renovations and was not offering any tastings. Maryam took very good care of us, she had juice and water cooled for us, and the pace of doing things was very relaxed, and she listened to our wishes and made them true. The car was new and very comfortable, and all and all the tour was well worth the price. I can warmly recommend them, especially if you are not interested in driving yourself on the tiny, curvey roads of Martinique.
