I can't praise Leslie Ferrati and Beyond the Beach highly enough! I've taken both the "Best of Southern Martinique" and the "Small Group Unmissable tour of the Ruins and Rum Distillery" with Beyond the Beach since I was fortunate to visit Martinique twice. Leslie is a consummate professional and extremely welcoming. The vans are new, air-conditioned, plush and comfortable. The vans are small intentionally holding 2-3 couples per excursion so we could visit a large number of wonderful sites. The large bus tours cannot move the tourists quickly, so they're very limited to stopping at just a few sites. Leslie and Miriam were both bi-lingual and very knowledgeable. The worst volcanic eruption of the 20th century, the Mt. Pelee volcano in 1902, killed everyone in St. Pierre, the largest city in Martinique, known as the Paris of the Caribbean, in 31 minutes. The sole survivor, Ludger Sylbaris, was locked in a prison cell made of stone. To walk through these ruins and have a peek into their history was fun and fascinating. In the van we were treated to fruit juices (with or without rum!), water and homemade cake. Once this horrible corona virus is over with I plan to visit Martinique again with Beyond the Beach.

I was in Schoelcher without a car while visiting Martinique and was desperate for any opportunity to visit the island.

I was lucky enough to find Beyond the Beach (based in Schoelcher) online and was able to tour the North and South of the island with them. I also did the food walking tour of Fort-de-France. I dealt with Leslie and she was simply out of this world. My Guides were Miriam (north) and Joshua (south) and Elvetia for the food tour... They were all excellent.

Leslie also found a driver to take me further north on the island, on one day, and on another day, to the south-east of the island, along the Atlantic Coast.

These five days of excursions saved me, they allowed me to discover Martinique, and get to know the island well before leaving.

I cannot thank Leslie enough. She understood what I wanted and helped me to find it.

I unreservedly recommend Beyond the Beach for a great experience of Martinique.

We had a very nice trip with Leslie and her co-guide and two other guests. The tour was very informative, well prepared and the spots to visit well chosen. It was very nice for us to be chauffeured in the comfortable van and provided with drinks than to explore on our own. Regret to do the south tour on our own, we had rather booked it with Leslie as well.

We had booked this tour online and had a small issue with getting booked which the owner Leslie promptly corrected for us. Meeting point and time were clear and right off the port exit. We had a total of 12 people not including our tour guide and driver and van was air conditioned. The van was a bit cramped because there was a party of 4 in our van that decided they needed 2 seats for each person while the rest of us had to cram into the remaining seats. Our tour guide Sebastiano was excellent with his energy and information about the island. The tour went to a local rum distillery, black sand beaches for some swim time, beautiful rain forest and waterfalls to see as well as the famous ruins from Mt Pele and sacred heart church. Our tour did have refreshments but they were very limited to a large communal bottle of water with plastic dixie cups and one small communal box of juice to share. They also offered some pound cake. I would recommend if you go on this tour to bring water and snacks which we did. When Leslie met us at the port she gave the kids a cute little string bag to decorate which I thought was a very nice touch. Great tour to take!

Hello, Thank you Allisson for your review. Just to let you inform that I made personnaly all the coolers and you had 3 litters of local juice (not only one) and several bottles of local spring water. So enough for the entire group. Maybe Sebastian didn't gave enough drinks to the group... Happy to read that you have enjoyed your tour. Hope to see you again! Leslie

While planning our port day In Martinique, as well as for 4 other port calls, I turned to TripAdvisor for guidance. We ended up booking the Unmissable Martinique tour through Viator. The tour was arranged with a local company Beyond The Beach. I have nothing but great things to say about the tour and our guide Sebastian. A pretour email was answered promptly and meeting point and departure very smooth and on time. Sebastian gave a very informative and interesting tour of this beautiful island. I only wish we had another day to do their Southern Martinique tour.

In short, this experience was great, and our guide Sebastian really made our last day in Martinique an awesome one. Still, based off of NOT being able to do the rum tasting after that being the main headline and being hackled by Leslie, —I would NOT recommend this to even my closest friends and family—. The pre-excursion experience was too stressful on what was to be considered my holiday 🤔. TIP: if you decide to book Be veryyyyyy cautious about booking too early. Viator the third party attached to TripAdvisor was a GREAT help after a few of my family members flights got delayed due to weather, but Leslie (owner/operator in Martinique) had VERY POOR communication with viator, is very sassy, and kept me glued to my email in VERY POOR service for 3 whole days With very little sympathy.

The “meat” for anyone who cares.

My original booking date was 2/3/19 for 2 people and two different experiences on 3/2/19 one month prior to our arrival date. On 2/28 my last day to cancel for free I cancelled that booking and booked again (via the site) but for 3 people since my bother decided to join my mother and I.

Everything was fine and I proceeded with my travels.

3/1/19 my family of 9 flew into NY from all over the east on a very snowy day (3-5 inches in some places) and a few flights got delayed causing people to arrive in Martinique a day late. Prior to boarding my flight to Martinique I QUICKLY communicated this change to viator and they gladly refunded for 3/2 and rebooked the same excursion for 3/4 so that the 3 of us could make it and enjoy. Case closed .... not a chance now that Leslie gets involved.

After 23+ emails over 3 days Leslie went back and forth with me stating the viator was not authorized to make any changes and that they could not host us on 3/4. So, simply wanting to just enjoy the rest of my holiday, I asked many times to just be refunded completely since I had been told differently and had email correspondences from viator stating otherwise. It would be my last day in Martinique and Leslie made things VERY difficult. Needless to say I was completely over it.

Late at night on 3/3 we we’re suddenly confirmed by Leslie and given instructions on where to meet. It was a very long day starting 1 hour before the time on trip advisor, but everything ran smoothly and our guide Sebastian made sure our small group of 5 were well informed and well fed 🙌🏿. We did not get to do the rum tasting because the distillery had closed prior to us arriving (that was super upsetting since that’s what we were most excited about), but Sebastian made the very best of the situation and was very pleasant.

Sebastian truly saved this experience with his warm spirit, wealth of knowledge, genuine love for his job. The bus was also very nice and had a/c. We tipped him well ! If it weren’t for him I would have given this 1 star or LESS simply based off of my experience with Leslie.

Be cautious.

I am really sorry to hear you disliked our discussions through email. I know it is hard to go with a third party but I always do my best to satisfy people and respect my engagements. However I am happy to see you enjoyed your tour and had an overview on Martinique which is quite a beautiful island. Have a lovely day.

Sophie was an excellent guide, taking us around to see great sites around the northern parts of the island. She was knowledgeable, shared snacks and stories, and even offered to take us to the airport to save us some money on cab fees. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore a few cool stops for an easy, half day.

Gwladys was our wonderful guide. We had the opportunity to visit so much of the island away from the city. The tour was very well organized. We enjoyed a thorough overview of the island including a visit to a waterfall, distillery and several ruins. The bus was comfortable and roomy. While some people went to the beach, others had the opportunity to go to a local bakery and enjoy the food. I would recommend this excursion for those wanting an overview of the island.
