This was an amazing experience!! My fiancé and I went on this tour yesterday and were blown away from start to finish. We only had four people on our tour (including us) so it was very intimate. Not like these other tours that cram people on and play loud music. The captain was very kind and knowledgeable. He told us all about the history of where we were, and gave us several suggestions on where to visit and eat. This trip was well worth the money and one I will recommend to anyone visiting San Juan.

We had a great experience on the Sunset Sail with San Juan Historical Bay. We started at 5pm and ended about 7:15pm. The captain and crew were great. The boat is smaller and we have 6 people and the crew and were comfortable but I would recommend it for people living in very large bodies. I would recommend a larger boat.
I do not think the initial instructions were the best but I just messaged the operators the day before and they got right back to me. There was plenty of parking and we met them in an easy-to-find location once we had a few more instructions.
They provide clear instructions to be on time and the traffic in San Juan can be very bad.
They captain provided a lot of great information about the history of San Juan. I wish I would have done this cruise earlier in my trip.

Experience was fantastic! Captain and assistant Maria were friendly and very informative. This is impressive since they go on 3-5 trips a day. The sangria tasted like Hawaiian Punch with a little rum, which was fine. We tasted it to be polite. We were more of a bottle water crowd at that time. Tip # 1: At least 4 people are seated very close together in the back in addition to the Captain, which was fine for us because we were of the same family. But, typical of non private tourist events, at least 2 people we successfully avoided which were steered to another sail boat were extremely chatty. On a larger boat, even the size of a catamaran you can avoid that type of interaction if you are not in the mood. Big tip #2 and why I didn’t give a 4 or 5: They do not give the address where to be dropped off, which by the way is the entrance to the Club Nautica de San Juan. You can see from other reviews that other people had a hard time figuring this out. I did, but I also had the assistance of the head Bell Boy at the Marriott and two cab drivers (not Uber drivers) that are long time pros of taking tourists to common attractions in and around Old San Juan. I had to actually type in the Google map coordinates into my phone to get specific directions. Our cab driver did too, but his GPS app had us going in circles and the solution was for me to give him my phone. 4 other people in the 11 people scheduled at the same time had the same confusion. Note: you cannot get an Uber in PR without a specific address or name of the destination. I needed to give the cab driver my phone. They do not answer their phone EVER. Their website is clearly not written by anyone with a native AND fluent understanding of English because it contradicts itself. (The totally bilingual head of the bell caps at the Marriott was as confused as I was.) Prior responses to negative reviews on this subject were dismissive stating that huge numbers of people figured out how to arrive at the right location. Seriously, I don’t understand how that is reasonable when it took me about an hour, I speak Spanish and the staff at the Marriott on Ashford was having the same frustrations as I had and this seems to be a chronic criticism. Also, you can’t get an Uber without a specific address. So… the experience was great, but for someone that only speaks English, doesn’t have a phone with the Google maps app (like many iPhones) and isn’t okay turning your phone over to a cab driver that only speaks Spanish, which means You have to translate for him to understand the English of the GPS, I really think the bad reviews about location and rudeness are warranted.

Similar to the other terrible reviews posted, we read everything and followed directions-but it was still impossible to find the location via maps, map links posted and the attached useless picture texted to us by the owner. The location is very confusing for travelers not familar with the neighbhorhood.
Right before we were supposed to leave, my husband and I needed help finding the location. Ivan 'notafakepirates' voicemail box was conveniently full and he stopped answering texts/did not return phone calls resulting in us missing out on this excursion altogether.
Upon this, they would not refund us, so we lost almost $200.00. Such poor customer service and a complete lack of empathy, blaming the customer for their own incompetence and lack of business sense.

Showing up to the a tourism activity, it's customers responsibility. 31,000 thousand people have made it to the location easly with the online maps, but unfortunately a minimum IQ is a requirement . . . . . I had to say that because this is a tourism activity, nobody is familiar to locations, so using maps and reading becomes magical for a few!!
We are sailors, with a good sailing mood and, me Captain Ivan, the owner have found that by not taking the phone to explain basic directions to reach the place in the last minute, to people who simply are not responsible neither committed to their sailing activity and just blame anybody else for their incompetence, serves as a strainer for not sailing them and it really works! And we say that in advance, no phone calls. Just remember some people just knows hate, and won't sail, but would find all resources possible to make some damage with a review.
We sail people who can read instructions that can find a location using online maps and very good moods only, no refunds for no shows.
Use the maps, read our info and you'll get an amazing sailing trip.

Seeing the sunset and the lights at night. The sailboat could be set up to race very quickly. Rum punch was good. No masks were required.
Directions were provided which leads you to the guard gate at the marina where the sail boat is located.
The walk from the cruise port was about 1.3 miles. The sidewalk was broken and had trip hazards. I recommend taking an Uber back to the cruise port.

This experience was amazing and so beautiful!! The guide was so knowledgeable and so friendly/personable. He pointed out some historical and very cool facts and buildings about old San Juan! Took us to the castle and explained a-lot of history. And during the downtime on the water we all talked about boxing, food recommendations, restaurant suggestions, family, and laughed at jokes and other fun conversations! The sangrias on the boat were great also! 10/10 definitely recommend!! Would definitely do this again every time i come back. Very relaxing, fun, cool, amazing experience!

Amazing, intimate experience. This is a great way to see Old San Juan and San Juan from the water. Our captain, Ivan, was so friendly and knowledgeable about Puerto Rico. We had a great conversation with him and our fellow passengers the whole time. He took us around the bay and even out on the water a little bit and he gave us excellent recommendations of where to go and eat. The views from the water are fantastic!
Keep in mind that these boats are smaller. There were 4 passengers plus the captain on the boat which was a racing boat. If you get sea sick, if you don’t like sailing on a sail boat that is being moved by actual sails not an engine (not a catamaran or yacht), if you are concerned with being on a small boat, etc. this may not be the tour for you. It’s great if you have a smaller group (maybe max 7 people) and are open for a little ride.

Captain Ivan is not only a superb sailor but a wonderful human being, You need to ignore any negative comments about this excursion. The tour is on a J30 racing sailboat which only holds 6 passengers. 2 people will need to sit up front which is for the more adventurous of you and the other 4 are in the back with the Captain. Ivan knows a lot about the area and if you are staying in San Juan his restaurant recommendations are the best. If you want a true sailing experience then this is the excursion for you!
Thanks Captain Ivan for a wonderful time!

This was a very intimate setting and the captain was great with Puerto Rico history and had a lot of knowledge about boating. We got to go into open waters for a little bit but it was extremely windy. But it was great and we had a wonderful time. I would def recommend and this sells out really quickly.
Wonderful sunset in the bay.
Captain gave great food suggestions and things to do.
Do it and you won't regret it.
