          El Yunque
Our trip to El Yunque was beautiful. Some of the trails were a little difficult for me but Adriana our guide was always watching out for our group. As long as we listened to her, we did well. She was charming and quite knowledgeable about the rainforest. If was worth the experience.

Jumping off the cliffs and swinging out on the rope is worth the hike
Not sure where to start. All 10 of us agreed this was the favorite excursion ever. Our tour guide, Jason, was the best. We did the Off the Beaten Path and it was fantastic. It rained a little the day we went, but we knew we were in a rain forest so no one cared. We were surprised about the "muddy experience" in getting to the waterfall, but we embraced it and it turned out to be one of our favorite hikes. Jumping off the cliffs was such fun and even the outdoorsy 70 year olds in our group loved it.

          A great walking tour
Our tour guide Frankie, was terrific. His obvious love of San Juan along with his historical knowledge was impressive. It was a humid day and he stopped and bought us water and offered us popsicles. We learned so much and enjoyed our tour immensely. Thank you, Frankie!

A wonderful way to learn about the beautiful country of Puerto Rico! Highly recommended!
Our guide Francisco was very informative, funny and friendly! We learned about the history of the country, the plant life, animals, birds and insects. We climbed a few flights of stairs to the top of a tower for an incredible view and ended the tour at an amazing coffee shop and bakery! We highly recommend it!

          Don’t hesitate. It’s worth it.
This trip is NOT to be missed. My family and I had the distinct pleasure of spending the day with Hector. He was funny and kind, patient with the kids and so knowledgeable! The trip was hands down our favorite part of our week in Puerto Rico. We had great coffee on the trip and great food at a beachside restaurant before heading to the boat. I was nervous about my mobility (sprained ankle) but Hector made sure I could get on and off the boat to enjoy every moment with my boys. The timing for the bio bay was perfect. And although it’s impossible to take good pictures of the experience, the boys cannot stop talking about their superhero experience. It’s better than we expected and we got such a long time there too! This trip is not to be missed and so far superior to the kayaks. The laughter and fantastic playlist made the whole day one of a kind. Hector made us feel like familia, and we will be sure to request him next time we come back.

          Awesome experience
My husband and I had a blast on our excursion to El Yunque. Our tour guides, Felix, Elias, and Mitchell were the best! They made us feel safe by explaining how the tour would work, safety precautions, and how to have the most fun on our tour. We hiked through the rainforest and then climbed the rocks to do some cliff jumping, water sliding, and rope swinging. We had a great time and would recommend it to anyone who is physically able to climb rocks! It took a lot of effort and was slippery so you had to pay attention. Wear old sneakers and eat a good breakfast before going.

          Exhilorating, once-in-a-lifetime experience
Incredible, one-of-a-kind experience. Kayaking at night, through a mangrove to see this rare bioluminescent phenomenon definitely checks a box off the bucket list! We had the good fortune of going out on a dark night shortly after a new moon, so the bioluminescent life was easier to see - glowing as we paddled through the darker parts, and even as we touched or splashed the water. I do have a list of caveats to, this is NOT a good moment for first-time kayakers. Paddling in the dark in a very crowded place can be scary and dangerous. If you are taking younger children, it would be good to have them understand the basic concept of paddling BEFORE you get out there for this (or be prepared to paddle hard yourself). All kayaks are doubles - if you have an odd number of participants, be prepared to have someone partner off with someone else. Due to the popular nature of this event, it is very CROWDED - not just with your own tour group, but with simultaneous others operating at the same time. This can be especially tricky when you are navigating the narrow channels - take care! All that being said, the crew were INCREDIBLY helpful on this trip. My daughter and I got extra special assistance (we were not in good sync for a while) to pull us through, as well as my inlaws (who had issues with one of their seats). We paddled 1.5 miles out and 1.5 miles back - keep in mind the distance for the abilities of your participants. I would not recommend trying to photograph as you go (the crew will take a group photo AND gets shots on the water for you). There is way too much going on in the water - you need to focus on (A.) paddling (staying mindful of those around you) and (B.) observing the phenomenon. Also, you WILL get wet so follow the tips about bringing a change of clothes!

          jellyfish in water
I just went with my kids. The oldest is 10. it was very cool. not like the big photos with the whole bay lit up. the guide said that's all been photo shopped. nonetheless it was cool to see the water light up like sparkles. you can't actually take any photos or videos cause it won't come out. but the experience was cool. until someone started screaming. a bunch of jellyfish swam into us. the kids all got frightened and we rushed out. the stings were painful but subsided after about 30 min. def wear a full sleeve rash guard. the kids were frightened at the end but until then it was good. I don't know if I'd do it again but happy I did it once.

This is a super fun outdoor adventure! Make sure you have sturdy close toed shoes for climbing rocks and walking in a rocky river bottom. You’ll work to get to your destination but it’s worth it and beautiful!!!

          Get on this trip ASAP
Aliana and Elias took us on a lovely journey up river to pools in the Yunque rainforest. Good humor and good energy from both of our guides. Well worth doing this on your trip to Puerto Rico.

Rainforest - make sure to see this!
How many times can you say you have visited a rainforest? It’s a wonder to see and experience for yourself. We hiked (walked is more like it) up the 1.7mile concrete path through the forest nearly to the top where Briton Tower is located. The feature and walking path were closed when we visited but the awesome experience of walking in this area is well worth the effort. Go early as the car count is limited. Parking is not easy to find after 9AM. You don’t need to pay for a tour as it’s pretty much a self-guided event. Skip the ‘Visitor Center’ tour as well. If you are on TripAdvisor then you know how to find info online. The micro-climate is amazing. Do this! About a 1-hour drive east from San Juan.

          Great tour guide
Our tour guide, Frankie, was wonderful. He was so knowledgeable about the rain forest & entertaining as well. I thought my teenage daughter would be bored, but she loved it. This was a walking tour, no hiking involved. So you don’t really become immersed in the forest. But you get to experience beautiful views.

          Kayaking through the mangroves
Great experience kayaking through the mangroves. The bioluminescence was a little pale but it was there. Great guides. Paddling back in the dark was an experience. boats had glow-rings so we could see the boats ahead of us. Special thanks to Nathsn, our driver.

          Fun but some issues
It was extremely fun! The tour guides were amazing, fun to be around, and knowledgable. The tour is advertised as 8 hours but it was not. We spend 8:00-10:00 traveling, 10:00-1:00 hiking and enjoying the water falls, 1:00-4:00 in a resultant, and 4:00-5:00 going home. The restaurant we were taken too was good but the service was not. Overall, I enjoyed my time and highly recommend participating in it.

The guide was very helpful with gibing support for elder members of the group. He was good at his english and communicated instructions well.

Although he had a big waterproof bag with him on the hike and throwing into the water while diving, he refused to keep my phone in it just for a moment of one dive. If he had hold the mobile in his bag, I would have not missed the dive into the pool.

As our group of 6 +2 was preparing to travel to PR for the first time, I looked for a private tour provider to guide us in El Yunque. We understood that the guided hiking path is limited as the guided tours are not allowed on the only remaining hiking path since the hurricane. That independent path is open, but based on some recommendations was difficult to navigate, and we opted for a private guided tour off-the-beaten-path.
Bespoke customer service was friendly and responsive. They warned us of the moderate activity required for the tour, 1 hr each way to get there from San Juan, and they also walked us through expectations, including the combination of hiking and water-immersed adventures. We were told that the initial hike is muddy and we should be prepared for a slippery path with appropriate non-slip hiking shoes but would have limited utility for ponchos and other extras. Throughout the planning stage, Bespoke was responsive to our needs.
On the day of the trip, Hector, our tour guide, was outstanding--organized and engaging; he was equally prepared to talk about the many living wonders of the rainforest and their purpose, as he was to the current situation experienced by locals. He was fun, supportive, and full of great ideas--including a market stop for fruits to eat on our trip. He was reassuring to our friends, who realized while on the van that this adventure was not right for them--but at that point, the return trip for one of 4 couples was difficult to arrange, and they opted to wait for us at the local house--where they were welcomed with Hector's recommendation. After about 25 minutes hike in the muddy, slippery, and not the most beautiful part of the rainforest (I have to presume), we learned about post-hurricane changes and some of the fascinating wildlife there. Then, we had to cross the shallow river as Hector prepared a quick snack of fruits we purchased on the way. They guided those who wanted to rope-swing into the river, and we continued climbing for about 30 more minutes to the diving cliff. I loved both experiences, but none of my friends were interested. They watched the first one and were able to jump off the smaller cliff for the second, to start our return to the van. We changed and were escorted to a really nice area of Luquillo beach, where we had an excellent beachfront lunch. Hector met us after lunch and took us back to the hotel. He continued to be a source of great recommendations for dining and entertainment--and could not have been more accommodating. The Bespoke was genuine in allowing special accommodations for our friends that did not complete the trip. In summary,
        1. The actual hiking component of the trip is insignificant unless one is able and interested in being in the water most of the time (at least ankle-deep).
        2. Bespoke is very friendly and Hector specifically was outstanding
        3. If you choose to go, it's not for the wonders of ElYunque as there are very limited rainforest exposures, but for the water adventures which were really fun and very memorable for me
        4. Make sure you are prepared for a muddy slippery walk, that you will most likely encounter rain, and only enter a sense of adventure anticipating some discomforts if you choose to go on this tour. If that's the expectation, Bespoke is excellent.

While short of the "extreme" called by my friends, it was not what I expected of the hike in the rainforest, but I certainly loved it personally, and recommend Hector and Bespoke for the right people looking to experience El Yunque in this limited way.
