What to Expect
Begin your day with a pickup at select San Juan, Condado, or Isla Verde hotels. After a 45-minute ride to Caguas with your guide and small group, you receive your helmet and harness and begin your Carite State Forest adventure. First, you take an uphill hike while your guide briefs the group on safety procedures for the day and shares local history and lore. You walk along the river and through the forest before beginning your climb up waterfalls—eventually reaching the top of El Salto Waterfall. Once at the top, you rappel down the falls as a group. Hike downriver with your group and take five different ziplines to the bottom of the mountain. There, you enjoy a delicious home-cooked meal, before you are dropped back at your hotel.

My husband and I spent an incredible week in PR for his 40th birthday. Hands down: this excursion was the highlight of our trip. We jumped on the tour bus in Caguas and quickly wished we had taken some Dramamine before the bus ride up the mountains. It was a super quick trip

This is definitely the best hiking experience that I have ever had. Tour guides are really caring and humorous, and the view is really good. Even though the journey seems really tough, it is worthwhile. Bring a pair of new shoes and clothes to change after it, and also be brave.

Wow what an amazing experience. The rain forest was so beautiful and to experience it in a small group hiking up a creek/stream was so cool. The rappelling was awesome, the waterfall, the zip line, the guides and the home cooked meal were all amazing.
