    What to Expect
Explore the only tropical rainforest in the United States National Forest system on this half-day trip. Walk the park’s nature trails, surrounded by tree orchids, giant ferns and wildflowers, as you venture to a camera-worthy collection of waterfalls and panoramic vistas in northeast Puerto Rico.

Start your day early with pickup from select hotels in San Juan. Then drive from San Juan to El Yunque, admiring the typical native towns and changing scenery as you ascend higher into the rainforest. This ecosystem is named after the ancient Indian spirit Yuquiyu, who was  believed to have once reigned over all of Puerto Rico, protecting the island and its people.

Begin an easy walk on one of the park's trails, keeping an eye out for any of the area’s wildlife. Make your way along paths thick with tree orchids, giant ferns, wild flowers and tropical hardwood trees, and stop by La Coca Waterfall.

Then make your way back to San Juan, arriving back at your hotel in the early afternoon.

Had a great time visiting the forest. Short pit stops along the route. Was a bit worried before going due to the reviews which mentioned having to watch a video and no hiking. None of those things thankfully occurred for us. No videos and we...More

Our guide Carlos was very informative and gave us so much info about the rainforest, history and background. He could answer all of our questions and had a good sense of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our Guide Toni was excellent. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the sights we saw and expected to be more of a workout/hike. I suppose it was fortunate for us this was very light exercise due to a back injury...More

To start, our tour guide was super friendly and informative. The tour itself was not worth it in my opinion. First, you don’t get to see much due to hurricane maria affecting parts of the rainforest, which is totally understandable and unfortunate but that wasn’t...More

This tour is great. Very informative, but not a hiking tour. The recovery of El Yunque after the hurricanes and the beauty of the place is the draw. Expect serenity, not Jurassic Park.

There is still damage from the hurricane, so I’m not sure how much more you can see in the full day tour. They may just give you more time in the water part.
