- 1Bob Marley was born on February 6th, 1945. He died on May 11th, 1981. Visiting this small town is a priority for all tourists, cruise ship and stopover passengers alike from Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Montego Bay and from as far as Negril in the west. Nine Miles is a tiny village in hills of St. Ann where the reggae legend, Bob Marley was born, and fittingly, the place he’s now laid to rest. Although Bob Marley moved to Kingston at age 13 to live with his mother and to advance his music career, he would often return to Nine Miles to get away from the fast pace life of Kingston. Home is where the heart is and Bob Marley wrote several of his hit songs when he was in St. Ann. Nine Miles Jamaica was always his home and to have the full experience of Bob Marley; you will have to visit this town. A tour of this settlement will leave you with a greater understanding of the legend Bob became; in fact, the community today is pretty much how it was in Bob Marley’s early days. A Rastafarian tour guide will be on hand to guide you around the property and answer all your questions. Still present, is his first home and the very bed he slept in as a young child also as an adult when he would return on his many “cooling out” visits. The rock that he used as a pillow, on which he would relax. Quite a few guests have said that they have felt the presence of Bob Marley. The Nine Mile Tour includes his birth and resting place, what he liked to do and Mount Zion, the spot where he drew his inspiration from to write his songs. Visit the nearby Ethiopian church where his body was laid to rest with his guitar. Please remove your shoes before you enter as a sign of respect. Feel free to look around. At the end of the tour you will be taken back to your hotel.
About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Ruth0160 contributionsThrills and tranquility! This excursion is a must-do adventure! Our driver was Clive, and he ensured that we had a great experience throughout the trip. His knowledge added an extra layer of depth to the experience. He was attentive and engage, and always ready with helpful tips and recommendations. The Blue Hole was a breathtaking oasis, with its crystal clear waters and stunning natural beauty. Dunn's River Falls was the highlight. Climbing the cascading falls was such a exhilarating experience. This one is not to be missed for anyone travelling to Jamaica!Written January 11, 2025
- iluvoc0 contributionsA Few Things to KnowIf you are on a Viking cruise it’s a 2 hour drive from the port. If you have any ankle or hand issues this is not for you. It may look easy but this is strenuous. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Your guide climbs most of the falls with you and assists those in need. WATER SHOES are a must. Great experience just be careful.Written January 11, 2025
- argreisen0 contributionsWorth the driveWe have 6 teenagers and they all agree the excursion was worth the 2-hour drive from our Negril resort. We hadn't expected the drive to be that long that day, but it was a good way to see more of Jamaica. The falls were beautiful and our family enjoyed swinging and jumping in. The only hiccup was that we didn't bring water shoes which may have been recommended in the info but we didn't catch that detail if it was. All 8 of us had to purchase the $10 water shoes (which could have been worse) at the gift shop before going in. We could have elected not to, but we were glad we did in the end because of the rocks. As an FYI (because I like to know these things), there's a gift shop, restaurant, and convenience snacks and drinks at YS Falls if needed. There's also a changing area and restrooms of course. The second half of the excursion was the Black River safari starting with lunch. Our kids really liked the food. The boat safari was wonderful. There were several huge crocodiles, one of which was 75 years old and 18 feet long. It was massive. I just wanted to denote that because we've been on other crocodile excursions in the states and we were disappointed by only seeing a few really small ones. The driver was nice and the shuttle was comfortable. All in all I would recommend this trip, but be prepared for a long day that's half driving. We left at 8am and were back to our Negril resort at 4:30pm.Written January 9, 2025
- Viviana W0 contributionsAmazing experience and staff very attentive and caring the whole excursion!Everything from the beginning was wonderful. Guides in the falls were amazing and very attentive. Great experience, definitely highly recommended.Written January 4, 2025
- Christopher B0 contributionsGreat day trip for two families with four kids ranging from 8-14 years old.The YS Falls were beautiful. We enjoyed the rope swings and the tour guides did a great job of making sure we had pictures of our memories. It wasn’t too busy on the Tuesday we went. The lunch at the Black River restaurant was delicious. We grabbed some ice cream for the boat ride and enjoyed the beautiful views. We saw several crocodiles and the tour guide was funny and informative. The tour guide that drove the bus was amazing. He gave us a great history of Jamaica and was very enjoyable to be around. Overall a great trip.Written January 4, 2025
- 122laf0 contributionsFantasticWe stayed alive with Clive!! An absolute legend. Navigated the journey safely with the patience of a saint (I don’t think I’d want to drive these roads). Built a great rapport with and among the group. Very knowledgeable on the outbound journey and let us all chill with a movie (had to be cool runnings) and Bob Marly documentary and latest movie coming back. I will be back to survive with Clive again. One LoveWritten January 3, 2025
- darcym4960 contributionsSo disappointed with the travel- do not go if staying in Montego BayI’ll start with the positives, the tour guide and driver were very kind and good fun and the actual Blue Hole and Dunns river were so cool to experience. However, our 8 hour day turned into 13 hours with 7-8 hours travelling. We were unluckily picked up first and therefore dropped off last. We were picked up at 8am and ended up getting dropped off at 9:30pm! In the morning, it took us 3 hours 40 mins to get to the actual blue hole which is meant to be like a 2 hour drive. This was because it took us an hour just picking up people around Montego Bay, then other hotels on the way, from here they then make us go to a souvenir store for 30 minutes in the middle of nowhere. We were also unlucky with one of the groups of people we were with as they kept asking to stop at a pharmacy then would take ages- this happened throughout the day - constantly waiting for one family. And I know this isn’t exactly the excursions fault but they could have encouraged the group to hurry up for the sake of the rest of us who have also payed. We then went to our lunch spot where the cheapest meal is $20, again in the middle of nowhere but to be fair it was nice food. From here they said it would take 15 mins to Dunns river but it actually took like 35 mins. Once we arrived, Dunns river was packed and hardly enjoyable with all the people trying to barge through up the falls. The tour guides there were great but get annoyed if you go off a little bit. After this long day , it then took 4 hours to get home because of the traffic and we unfortunately had to stop and wait for a driver that bus had broken down. Again not their fault , but it did kind of ruin our trip due to the length of the journey being so long already and there was no form of compensation and not really apologies. So I would recommend doing the Blue Hole and Dunns river only if you’re staying close to Ochos Rios.Written December 31, 2024
- aref_sam0 contributionsExcellent day tour with the best 3 attractionsThe SNL tour of blue hole, secret falls, and Dunn river's falls was excellent. Our tour guide, Clive, was very kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. If you want to do a day tour, look no further. I highly recommend this tour. Make sure to have waterproof phone case with you or buy one when you get there. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Written December 30, 2024

- warrenz20160 contributionsFun, Scenic, and Well-Organized Day TripI want to clarify upfront that this review is for the Dunn River Falls, Blue Hole, and Secret Falls tour, as the operator kindly rebooked me from the YS Falls and Black River Safari tour at no extra charge due to low interest in the latter. This thoughtful accommodation allowed me to join a group traveling on Christmas Day, which was greatly appreciated. — Transportation & Group Dynamics: The transport did take some time due to multiple pickups and stops, but the driver more than made up for it with humor and a welcoming attitude. He engaged everyone with jokes and even hosted a fun trivia game, which helped pass the time and set a positive tone for the day. The operators ensured there were opportunities for bathroom breaks, refreshment purchases, and even souvenir shopping, making the journey feel well-paced. — Destination 1: Dunn River Falls Experience Upon arrival, there was a bit of a wait due to the popularity of the site, but once we started, the experience was truly enjoyable. The falls were beautiful, and the activity itself was well-organized and fun. However, at the end of this portion, the guides became a bit pushy when requesting tips. While I felt somewhat guilted into tipping more than I intended (due to limited local currency on hand), I understand this isn't reflective of the tour operator but something for future travelers to be aware of. — Destination 2: Blue Hole and Secret Falls At the next stop, participants were given the freedom to engage at their comfort level—whether diving, rope swinging, or simply observing. I personally participated and found the activities thrilling and the scenery breathtaking. The camaraderie among the group of strangers was a delightful bonus, making the experience even more memorable. — Return Journey & Final Impressions: The return trip was straightforward and scenic, though understandably long. Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend a day. — Tips for Future Travelers A couple of takeaways: 1. Be mindful of tipping—it's always helpful to have smaller denominations in local currency to avoid overextending. 2. Expect some delays during transport and at popular sites, but rest assured the experience is worth it. In summary, this was a well-organized and thoroughly enjoyable excursion. The operator’s efforts to create a friendly, fun, and flexible experience were evident, making it a memorable day for all involved.Written December 28, 2024
- mutiuo20200 contributionsNice day outThe whole experience was awesome. Our driver arrived on time and was very patient with us. The original plan was to go to Secret falls and Blue hole first but he anticipated that the Dunn’s would be packed if we go later. So, we hit the Dunn’s first. Amazing stuff. The climb was very good and physical. My whole family loved it. We then proceeded to the falls and Blue hole after having a nice lunch at a nice restaurant. I would recommend this booking to anyone interested.Written December 27, 2024
- debs1500 contributionsBrilliant trip but very long driveAbsolutely brilliant trip. If you are travelling from Montego Bay then make note it’s over 2hour drive and 3/4 of it is up a windy steep narrow road, so if you get travel sick I would t recommend.Written December 26, 2024
- akhil r0 contributionsExcellent way to spend the day outside the resortWe departed the resort around 8:40 AM and picked up other passengers from the other major resorts in Montego Bay. After this, we went straight to a shopping area to pick up some snacks and quick bathroom break. We then proceeded to the Dunn’s river Falls. Our driver, Marlon did a great job organizing guides for us who help to climb the falls regardless of ability. After this was a short lunch break. Lunch could’ve been better. It would have been best to go to a nicer restaurant since we were paying for lunch ourselves. The food was average for non-vegetarians with jerk chicken, jerk pork and curried goat, however, options for vegetarians were limited tosteamed vegetables. After this, we proceeded to go to the Secret Falls & blue hole. This was amazing. It was great to jump off 10 foot and then 30 foot height into a beautiful limestone lined blue hole . All throughout this trip I did not feel rushed or hurried at all. It was a perfect Jamaican vibe. Ya mon! YWritten December 25, 2024
- Climber449971216900 contributionsBlue Hole, Secret Falls and Dunns River FallFirst of all, our driver Copele was on time, professional, knowledgeable, courteous and very funny! As a Jamaican, this was my first time to Mobay, and I learned a lot from him. Our time in St Ann at the Blue Hole, Secret Falls and Dunns River falls was nothing short of amazing. Please book this tour, you will not regret it.Written December 19, 2024
- Sightseer094038064540 contributionsDon't book excursion with your driverOur driver told us if we wanted to book an excursion we had to pay him cash because the company only uses licensed guides. We were uncomfortable and felt pressed to book. We ended up going on a glass bottom boat. It was a complete scam. We had to meet the boat out in the water up to our hips and the guides were two teenagers. While talking to them we found out the driver charged us twice what they were paid to take us. There is no way this was legit!!Written December 17, 2024

The experience was awesome, and I feel like everyone should do this if you are in Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. The only issue I had was our pickup time was 8:55am, and the driver didn't pick us up until 10:05am. Other than that, the driver was amazing and he navigated the roads like a pro. The trip is about an hour up the mountains, which can be quite scary when cars are coming in the other direction.
