A must book! Best excursion in Ocho Rios!
Carl and Gregory were awesome! By far the best excursion of our entire Jamaica vacation, definitely on of the best all time! They let our kids drive the boat (ages 14-16) and do donuts in the water at full speed! The kids loved it! They snorkeled with us and pulled up some awesome starfish and pointed out where to go. They made sure the adults were never without a rum punch 😂. Dunn’s River itself was great but these two made it amazing!

Skip the Blue Mountain "highlights" tour
I wanted a Blue Mountain coffee tour, similar to the Appleton Rum tour. I didn't want to hike or bike, which was the only advertised tour. When we got to the resort and talked to the tour desk, they said we should do the "highlights" tour. This was not what we were looking for. Blue Mountain is a few hours from the resort, so this was a full day tour. Pick up was at 8:30 in the morning. The driver was picking up people from multiple nearby resorts, so it took a while getting going. The driver was hilarious and fast. Honestly, the tour was kind of a sh*tshow. Once we got most of the way up the mountain, we stopped at a central meeting area. There was a "brunch" offered, but we didn't have food because they said lunch would be only about an hour away. We had people from the hiking and biking tours on the same bus, so people were getting signed in and getting safety equipment. We got a 5 minute talk on coffee plants, coffee berries, how they're harvested and roasted, and that was all we got on coffee. We then got back in our van and drove farther up the mountain to drop off the hikers and bikers at different spots and the 2 couples who were doing the highlights continued higher. We got out of the van and were shown a coffee plant with berries of various ripeness. We saw banana and plantain trees and learned how to tell them apart. We saw a castor bean tree, mangoes, air plants, and more that I can't even remember. We walked through part of a rain forest accompanied by a puppy who wanted snacks and pets. At the end of our stroll, our driver picked us up and we went to where the hikers were supposed to finish. We waited and waited and they didn't appear. Finally the guide called someone and learned they were coming out down farther. So we went there and waited. When they finally showed up, we went down to the common area for lunch. Lunch was yummy jerk chicken and dry rice. It wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. Then we went even farther down to meet up with the bikers who had been waiting for ages. People who wanted to went swimming at the bottom of the waterfall. It was pretty but people said the water was cold. We didn't swim, by then we were done. Finally, we loaded back up and the driver drove back to the Ocho Rios area like his butt was on fire. All in all, it was not a bad day, it just wasn't what we'd anticipated or what we'd hoped it was.

          Dunns falls
We were staying at Sandals Dunns river resort and booked this tour. We had a 15min drive to Sandals Ochi. We arrived and quickly signed in and the tour started. The whole staff was great! We went snorkeling and saw sting rays, star fish and many fish. Next we were taken to the falls where we passed to the guides for the falls. Once we returned the party started with music, drinks and lunch. It was a great way to see the falls! Tips: bring cash for the tip for the guide for the falls. If you buy the photo from the falls that is $10 cash. But if you bring your phone in a water poof pouch the guide on the falls will use your camera for photos the whole way up! Don't forget cash for your tip for the island routes team too.

          Fantastic Experience
Had a fantastic experience using Island Routes Tours on my recent trip to Jamaica. We booked the family catamaran cruise to Dunn’s river fall which was the highlight of our vacation. From we got to the dock the crew made us feel extremely comfortable. They greeted us with courtesy and professionalism. Safety was a top priority and this was initiated from the dock and reinforced throughout the entire cruise. The snorkeling experience was amazing. The entrance to the Dunn’s River Fall was flawless. A tour guide greeted us at the dock and helped to guide us to the top of the falls and back to the boat. Then the party got started. They had a large variety of finger foods and alcoholic/non alcoholic beverages on the boat to satisfy every one’s desire with a DJ throwing down the favorite tunes . I would recommend Island Routes as they offer the highest quality Catamaran Cruise in Jamaica.

          A Good Time Was Had!
A good time was had by all in our group. Shade is limited so be sure to bring hats and sunscreen. The crew was awesome, fun and entertaining. I would sail with them again.

          Fun time!
This catamaran trip was a fun time with snorkeling, climbing the falls, and lunch on the boat. Our snorkeling guy was neat because he would dive down and bring up sea life for us to hold! (I wish I could remember his name.) The falls experience was a once in a lifetime one! Our guide, “# 23, Michael Jordan” was superior! Little did I know, that my calves would be on fire the next day! It was a major lower body and core workout! I loved how everyone helped each other with the climbing! The lunch was alright, but they did offer drinks which made up for it! I would recommend this tour!

          Book it!
This excursion was worth every penny! I would highly recommend. Island Routes was well-organized & punctual with pick up & drop off. If this is within your budget, it’s so much better than the Catamaran with 100+ other people. We had a small group of about 12 people & it felt personalized and private. Carl & Gregory were our guides and we cannot recommend them enough. They were funny, pleasant, knowledgeable, organized & ensured our safety at all times. They toured us off the north coast of the island, showed us different resorts and homes. We stopped off to do snorkeling for about half an hour. Carl ensured everyone’s safety during snorkeling. Snorkeling gear and life vests were provided. Then they took us to Laughing Waters beach (the James Bond Beach) where we stopped off for photos. Then they escorted us to Dunn’s River Falls & ensured a smooth transition to the Dunn’s Falls staff to go up the falls. After the falls they took us to Margaritaville for lunch (included), highly recommend the jerk bbq chicken. During this time we had time to shop in the local shops. We stopped near a dolphin attraction and saw some dolphins. And finally we had the option to swim in open water and see starfish. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages were provided. The tour ran from 9-3pm.

          Deep Sea Fishing South Coast
My wife and I booked this trip for the 4th of June; however, they advised us that there weren’t enough people to go, but to check back later in the day (on the 3rd.) We stopped back by and luckily another couple and one other guy had signed up for June 5th, so we decided to go with them. Michael and Reddrick were wonderful! Michael was our first mate and is a character! He really loves what he does, and is more than willing to answer all questions. My wife and I caught a 53” Wahoo with a Ballyhoo trolling at 8 knots. The other couple caught a Wahoo as well, and the gentleman caught a barracuda. Beer, water, sandwiches, and snacks were all included. The price for 4 hours is an absolute steal. Don’t forget to tip your captain/first mate! 15-20+% is typical.

Our driver George was awesome. I would have given this excursion 5 stars, the catamaran ride was beautiful but we waited so long to eat and the line was so long by the time we got to the front they had ran out of food which is unexpectable, we were picked up from our hotel at 6:30am and to do a full day on a empty stomach was a horrible experience. We saw people with full plates of food and was wasting food which is not fair. Also we are adults you shouldn't serve chicken nuggets at all.

Raft ride on Martha Brae river and Sunset cruise both from Ocho Rios
We booked these 2 trips prior to our holiday to Ocho Rios on our Anniversary date and couldn’t have wished for more! We confirmed both trips a few days before with the Island Routes desk at our hotel (Sandals), receiving all paperwork with exact pickup info. First we got picked up and taken over to Martha Brae and with some other pickups on the way, which took approx 2hrs to get there. On arrival we swapped our complimentary drink and paid more for a bottle of rum punch to enjoy down the river, which we did in the peaceful, relaxing serenity of the river in the sun! Our Captain, Donald, was an excellent guide giving us info at various points. We got back to our hotel, just in time to grab a bite to eat before being picked up for the other experience, the Sunset Catamaran cruise, directly from our hotel beach! This was a very enjoyable experience too, looked after by a number of crew onboard, enjoying the reggae vibes on the sea. We took advantage of the snorkeling, where we got to see a large number of fish, inc puffer, Star fish and urchins too. Then we got back on the boat for some lovely food and drinks watching the sunset. But before we headed back to the hotel we even got to see the dolphins on the other side of Ocho in their water enclosure! We highly recommend both of these trips!

Nice Boat Ride But Not What Description Says
Overall, this was a decent tour but it is not what it describes on Island Routes website. Description starts with: “At the first stop on this adrenaline pumping powerboat cruise, dive into the crystal blue waters of the iconic Laughing Waters beach.” You never go to laughing waters beach and you don’t even drive by it in the boat. When a few of us from the tour asked about it during lunch, we were told that you would have had to ask to go there and since no one asked it was too late to go. If you in fact need to ask, then you should be informed of that. For it’s lunch description it says: “Water lapping at your feet, dine island-style; with a hand holding a plate of Jamaican favorites and a thirst-quenching drink stuck in the sand beside you.” They take you to Margaritaville where we were sat upstairs in an area that you can’t even see the beach. You get 4 choices for food (one is jerk chicken so that would be the only Jamaican favorite option) and the servers will serve everyone else in the place before you because your food is already pre-paid. For the good parts: The snorkeling was probably the most fish I have ever seen snorkeling so definitely a good area. The boat only carries 12 so that is nice to not be with a huge group (when you get to Dunn’s River Falls, they will group you with another tour though so you will climb the falls as a larger group). The swells were pretty large that day and our captain did a good job of navigating them as good as possible I thought. We still had a good day but it was disappointing to not get to go the beach or the adjoining spring river because that was what we were looking most forward to and lunch was definitely a bust.

Dunn’s River and Mini Routes Drive Tour
We booked the mini routes tour and had such a great time with Dwight and Peter. The tour started on time which was a big deal for us as these are our last few days in beautiful Jamaica. We got a brief orientation from Dwight and then met Peter at our car. The car was clean and comfortable. Peter was the driver in front of us but Dwight was the one explaining all the history about Ochi. We had radios to communicate with them. We always felt safe and comfortable during the drive and at each stop. Peter was not much of a talker but he was very professional. Dwight was amazing and it is really because of him that we took the time out to write our review. Dunn’s River was a part of our experience. Dwight was so patient with us as we are sometimes not the easiest people to deal with. After Dunn’s we stop at a local eatery for lunch and it was just lovely. There is also stops for shopping experiences as well during the drive. We would highly recommend this experience if you are staying at Sandals Ochi. Please ask for Dwight as your tour guide. He will never leave your side but yet he is not at all invasive. The falls are truly a site to behold. We would certainly do it all over again. Cecco and Meme Pazzaglia Bologna, Italy

A great choice for a Jamaica excursion
This was a great trip. The snorkeling was better than I've seen in years although the reef is definitely showing the effects of climate change. Dunns river falls is beautiful and avery unusual adventure. How often do you walk up a waterfall? The staff was terrific and the lunch good and plentiful. My only complaint is the music was too loud.

We recently stayed at the Royal Plantation in Ocho Rios for our honeymoon. The staff spoke highly of the Island Routes and after attending the sunset catamaran cruise we decided to book the fishing charter. The staff on the catamaran cruise were phenomenal! They did their very best to guarantee a great time. Since we had an awesome experience on the cruise, we were extremely excited for the fishing charter. We fish quite often back at home so we're familiar with charters and know what to expect. This charter was terrible, from the fishing to the guides! It was a complete waste of 4 hours! The captain didn't bother to introduce himself and once the lines were rigged we never saw the other guide. We paid $450 for the both of us and never even touched a rod the entire 4 hours! When we questioned the staff after 2 hours of unsuccessful trolling, if we could bottom fish or atleast change some of the jigs, they simply said they weren't set up for anything else. Any charter I've been on atleast attempt to catch fish, if one way isn't working they try a different approach. Atleast, show me some effort for my money! I understand, you don't always catch fish. However, these people seem to throw a line out and call it a day. Don't waste your money on these boats, you're better off hiring the locals in their little dinghy!

We stayed at Beaches Ochos Rios, Altinea was absolutely terrific! So very kind and patient. Obviously loves her job. Always with a smile while juggling phones and people staring at her needing help.

We booked the Dunns Catamaran Cruise and it was totally fabulous from the moment we left. We do wish we had a little bit of time at the end of the Falls to shop though. We were kind of rushed down to the dock to have a fabulous lunch and were still back to the hotel about an hour before the paper said we would be but it was fine.

She also helped us book Dolphin Cove and gave us shirts to wear. We customized them and that was so fun too!

Altinea you have a lovely smile keep it up girl!

Was so looking forward to this trip as thought it would be a night of lovers rock music on the sea and the sunset that is why me and my friend booked it
On arrival at Sandals Hotel in Ochi that is where we had to board the boat we boarded got a drink it started throwing it down with rain we stayed next to sandals for about 40 mins till we can get going with the rain it stopped and we headed out I know you cannot control the rain but it wasn’t about the rain
We sail out then one of the guys from the crew was in water showing us starfish he brought some on the boat for us to look at which was different the crew were great
Me and my friend thought it was a lovers Rock Cruise with lovely music but they played about 4 or 5 reggae tracks then it was country and western and other tracks that did not relate to Lovers Rock
catamaran cruise so misleading it should not be advertised as that should just be sunset cruise NOT Lovers Rock Catamaran Cruise
It was The food that was absolutely terrible they said it was finger food but it was 1 tray full with 1 piece of ham folded over with a olive on top another tray with all different salad in it like carrot and cucumber then the
Last tray was like these puff pastries with tuna on top so small but taste awful the puff pastry was awful me and my friend could not eat anything it should be hot food put on like rice chicken and some salad as every catamaran we have been on we have as had hot food
When people are drinking they need proper food not finger food of one piece of ham
And a tiny puff pastry for £88.00 as all you seen was the sunset so should of put on better food
Would not recommend or go on it again.
