SAONA ISLAND CLASSIC TOUR IN SPEEDBOAT & CATAMARAN: Great tour all together. Highly recommend the private transfer to save time. Alexandra our private guide was amazing and very helpful all through the day. 5 stars for her and our driver. Four stars overall is due to the extremely long day and mostly travel of this tour. It was almost a two hour drive each way from our resort to the port. The boat rides were nice but also long, especially the Catermaran. We only had about two hours on the island including lunch. All of the staff did a great job, but this long trip and multiple legs may not be for everyone. If you have any mobility issues I would highly discourage. Otherwise a good time if you want to see the Dom. Rep. countryside, local port and get out on the water and enjoy boat rides. Overall a fun time, but a little exhausting.

I got confirmation, and pick-up was at 12:30 from the hotel. However, nobody showed up. I called half an hour later. Customer service told me he would contact the local tour company. Somebody called me around 1:20 p.m. and told me they did not get my reservation, and this tour was fully booked. So I have to cancel our tour. You waste my day, we would have done something else. We are here only a couple of days for vacation, I used to trust TripAdvisor, but you paid me back with unreliable. So disappointed! May I send this story to the public?

The crew was helpful, funny, and accommodating. We had 3 couples all in our late 40's. Bring money for the floating vendors. Super fun.

We were lucky in that we had a very low key group, older couples and generally chill people. Our guide Daniel even said at the end what an easy and chill group we were. Many times it is more rowdy/party atmosphere I take it. So we were lucky in that regard. The snorkeling was just ok. It was wavy and we didn’t see many fish but it was my 10 year old son’s first time so we just wanted to get a few minutes for him to try it out anyway. They do not give you flippers just a snorkel and life jacket. The time at the sandbar was absolutely stunning and a moment I will not forget. Crystal clear beautiful water, perfect weather! The photographer we had was very good and got great pics of us. Be sure to negotiate when it comes time to purchase the photos!! If you are a family with younger kids they will target you - I guess we are the most likely to buy because there were 2 families with kids and we were the only ones who got the pics. The ceynote was amazing! Short hike on a path through the jungle then swam in the lagoon - they also have a jump off point for those who are brave. I did it and it was really fun I recommend if you have the nerve! Tips: 1. Being towels, they are not provided 2. Bring extra snacks for the ride home they only have fruit and chips on the boat 3. Wear comfortable sandals or water shoes 4. Bring some cash for tipping. 5. Go to the bathroom before getting off the boat or at marina before the lagoon. You will not have another bathroom break after that. Overall a fun relaxing and unique experience.

Although the cost of this excursion is on the high side the tour operator does a very good job proving a variety of experience in a half day tour. We took the afternoon tour. Snorkeling first then wading from the catamaran. The staff takes drink orders while you’re wading and socializing . Very nice. Next you return to the marina and board a bus which takes you to the nearby cenote. Spring fed and peaceful in the center of a wooded glen. Although you’re told the water would be cold we found that it was just somewhat cooler than the ocean, quite comfortable after you adjust. My only suggestion would be to add something more substantial than fruit on a stick and a small snack bag to go with the drinks. A small wrap or sandwiches would have been appreciated. But don’t let that deter you. This tour is a very good value.

Me and my boyfriend had a lot of fun on this trip despite me getting sea sick halfway through. If you tend to get motion sickness I would recommend sitting out the snorkeling part because the waves and constant movement is what messed me up. But the more shallow area where we were allowed to drink was nice and the lagoon was my favorite part. The lagoon was truly a one of a kind experience and the most beautiful hidden gem inside of the private nature reserve. I wish we coulda had more time there. My only advice would be don’t be scared of the water being cold just jump right in, it truly is beautiful!

A tour of Cueva de las Maravillas takes about an hour. Guides lead small groups along well-lit footpaths to see beautiful stalagmites and stalactites that span back millions of years! Plus, ancient Taíno rock art and preserved artifacts. Wear comfortable shoes and be advised there are approximately 150 steps down and out of the cave. Iguana reserve also on the property. Well worth the trip. Clean restrooms, gift shop, museum, and cafeteria.

Amazing and fun trip. The crew gave us a brief history, we went snorkeling, then we were provided an opportunity to stand in the water about 3' deep while they provided drinks. Once we came in we were able to see an ecological park during a short walk to a natural lagoon! Highly recommend. Loved every member of the crew!

We did this as an excursion as we stayed at an all inclusive resort. We were picked up and dropped off at the location. You do a tour at the reserve seeing their plants and trees. Very informative and not boring. Even get to stop to see the iguanas for a bit (no, you don't get to pet them). We toured the first resort that was at the DR then stop to see the beach. Then off to see the Lagoon. It is stunning! While the sight says for ages 5&up or something. I would recommend this for those at least in their teens if not older. We were able to swim in the lagoon for a bit then off to eat lunch that they had prepared. (this order may be mixed up a smidge). They provide transportation to the Catamaran which we joined another small group and then off to the ocean we went. Sight seen the shore line with a few adult beverages. They provide the gear to snorkle, but I recommend taking your own.

It was a tour to remember by the whole family! The staff were all friendly and knew how to create a festive atmosphere for the whole group. Highly recommended tour when in Punta Cana.

The staff were friendly, the experience was focused on drinking/creating a party atmosphere. If you are looking for quality snorkeling, look elsewhere. If you want a relaxing time hanging out at a sandbar and drinking choose this excursion! The lagoon was a nice stop.

The snorkeling over some sea coral was very enjoyable as I saw various colourful fish and some rays. The crew on the boat were friendly and we had a good time dancing and listening to music. The swimming in the lagoon was refreshing.

The cruise could had better music, but Lisa, Reynaldo, Mirby and Michael Jackson made it an experience I will never forget for my birthday!!!!!

This was a nice excursion, the lagoon is incredible, the boat ride was fun. The tour guides were fun and friendly and kept the drinks flowing.

This was a very unorganized and sugar coated trip. We were told this was only a 1.5 hour bus ride from our resort. No, it was a 3 hour bus ride. We were also told we would be provided breakfast, no breakfast. We finally get to the port, there is no tour guide for us a no boat big enough for our group. We were also told there would be a catamaran for us to ride, instead after 30 minutes wasted fighting with the staff who speak poor english, we decide to cram onto the small boat. While on the boat, everyone was getting soaked the whole 45 minute ride to bacardi island. We get to bacardi island and they feed us lunch which was just okay. Then we are told that we get 20 minutes to spend on the beach. After our 20 minute beach experience, we get back on a boat where they actually got us a boat that was able to fit all of us. Once we are on the boat we are going around in circles in the huge waves to see the whales while half the group gets sea sick. Finally after some begging, we get the staff to end the whale watching trip. They take us to Samana island and we get on the slowest open air busses to take us 45 minutes to where the horses are. We were not informed that you cannot walk to the waterfall and it is only by horseback. The trail was a mess!! All rocks and a ton of mud downhill. Once we get almost to the waterfall, there is a ton of stairs that you have to walk down to finally get to the waterfall. The waterfall was absolutely beautiful and was the only highlight of the whole day. Then you have to walk back up all the stairs and go back to the end of the trail on horse. Once we get back, the other half of our group that stayed back because they can't ride horses was gone. No one told us that they would be gone so I was left with no money to tip the guides. They take us back to the boat and we rode 45 minutes back to where our bus dropped us off and we rode 3 hours back to our resort in the dark. The whole day was a 14 hour trip so be prepared to bring your own breakfast and dinner. We felt like the whole trip was not fully explained and we had no idea what we got ourselves into. They trip to cram way too much into one day and its non-stop. I'm not sure if the waterfall was totally worth the whole experience.
