This was an amazing experience and topped the list of my fav things in the DR. I took 2 surf lessons 10 years ago in another country and couldn’t get up at all. I’m 43 yrs old and within 4 tries on a short board, Santiago and another instructor had me confident, excited to try and up on the board! I rode waves almost 8/10 for 2 hrs and I’m a novice! It’s because the instruction was amazing and I would highly recommend this! Local surf fun, chill vibes, lovely beach and nice waves. Rodolpho and Sammy were awesome too! I had one more instructor who was also very helpful. When I come back to the DR, I’m booking for their surf camp- it’s worth it! Quick note for those at resorts- the bellboys can be fussy about pick up at the hotel lobby. Barcelo Bavaro requires that you meet your pick up driver at the main gate. It’s not cool- you tell them to drive you to the main gate for free- they owe you at least that for the inconvenience it puts on you and the Macao Surf Camp driver.

Macao Surf Camp was an amazing experience for my teen son! Sammy was his private instructor and had him up and surfing on his second try! This business was great to deal with and easily accommodated a last minute reservation change due to one of my sons being ill and allowed us to use it later in the week. I recommend the optional drone footage "add on" when you arrive as well! Overall great experience and great time! Definitely recommend!

This is such a friendly and helpful group of people, especially so if you're a first-time surfer. They are quick to get you in the (somewhat sheltered and calmer) water, which is where you really (and fairly quickly) figure things out--don't worry if you feel terrible practicing on land! In the water you are accompanied by a dedicated instructor who gets you settled on the board and watches for which waves to ride, plus someone to help grab your board and get you set up to ride again...and again, and again! The really cool part is while you are mastering the art of the balance these guys can provide AMAZING photos and videos! There is an option to have someone with a Go Pro camera take pictures from in the water, which really captures the raw action. But you can also have someone filming via DRONE! How cool is that?? The overhead shots are incredible and the drone is able to quickly move around to capture footage from every angle. But, it never feels like its in your way. I am SO glad we opted to purchase BOTH forms of photo/video (gopro and drone) because they each captured the magic of the experience in a different way. The quality of everything is stellar and you are provided with a link to download all photos/videos which you then can use however you'd like. My very favorite photo is actually a single frame from the drone video! I truly cannot wait to go back and hang out with this wonderful group next time we visit Punta Cana! You may be surprised at what you can do, but you will NOT be disappointed!

i am a 70 year old female. my instructor was patient, kind, and professional. i was actually surfing within a few minutes. i was concerned i would not be able to stand up and surf. but i did and it was really fun. we also hired the photographer to come along. he was really good and sent me some very nice photos. i would recommend this place to everyone!!

Amazing experience at Macao Surf Camp! Raphael answered all my questions and organized a great day of surfing for my husband and three teen sons, which included scheduling transportation to and from our resort (no need to book through expensive resort tour companies- go directly through Macao Surf Camp!) My family had some prior surf knowledge so we opted for board rentals only, without lessons. Regardless of not booking lessons, the staff was helpful, reliable and organized. I highly recommend this company if you're looking for a surfing experience in Punta Cana. Thank you Raphael and Team!

Great instruction, first time surfer and was up and going on my third try. Was riding all the way in by the end of the lesson. Ari and Rodalfo were great instructors and guides. The photographer was excellent and I have great pics of the experience. Pickup and drop off provided in the cost

We stayed at the Dreams Macao beach resort for over a week and I feel bad after 2 days with MSC that I never took the plunge until the last 2 days of my stay. The surf hut is located the the west of the beach access to Dreams. Past the gift vendors. The surf hut is manned by a friendly guy and explained everything we wanted to know. My 48 year old friend and I (41) enrolled in the 11 am class. We were joined by some tour groups so we were group of 12. A The first 15 mins are to get familiar with your stance on the board and then learn the pop up technique. 4 at a time and we did several practice pop ups on the boards resting in the sand. Then we got a lesson in safety, bail outs and head protection. Then we were off to the surf. Each attendee was paired with a surf coach. The coach would stay in the water at a optimal part of the water before the waves. They would stabilize you on the board, ask if you are ‘ready’, respond with a ‘yes’ then wait for ‘go’ to pop up. It was amazing after 2 wakes that us 40 year olds got up and went surfing. Must have had 25+ waves to ride. Simply amazing. Sammy was my coach and was able to give feedback on great runs and bad runs that made the next run successful. Simply a great guy with TONS of patience. After the 2 hrs was done. We headed back wanting more. With one more full day left we and my 11 year old daughter went for the 9am class. It was amazing to be only group of 3. The senior leader was great with my daughter. Got her to perfect her pop up over a dozen times. So patently explained everything to her. I was a little worried but after seeing the care and support for her I knew we were going to have a great day. Within 5 wakes my daughter was surfing with confidence. A life experience a prairie girl will never forget. DO DO DO work a deal with the photographer. The pictures attached are some of the 200 photos taken and capture the moment in such amazing detail. All in all the last 2 days have been the highlight of our trip to Punta Cana. We can prove that the span of a 11 year old to a 48 year old can do it and I can imagine younger and older people can do it as well. Thanks again to the team at MSC. I hope to see the day we can ride on the waves again!

Amazing Experience!! Both my kids had a blast from start to finish. We did the photos and they were nothing short of AMAZING! For anyone staying at Dreams Macao this surf school is right next door on the beach - super convenient.

I went for a private lesson which everybody did from our group of 5. Rafael organised the transfer from our hotel, which was fast and on time. It’s been a very good intro to surfing for first timers. Gustavo was super relaxed, explained every necessary details, but did not waste our time on the beach. In the water we all were given one personal guide, who I think helped everybody as much as they needed, we were told and instructed when we needed advice or needed to change something to be more successsful. I,m very pleased and very tired after the session, but did enjoy every sec. I had issues with my credit card, but I was able to pay later in the hotel. I loved it.

Me and my husband took 3 private lessons in Macao Surfing school. The service was fast and convenient. The atmosphere in the camp is special. The team is professional and beach is beautiful. Special thanks to Gustavo and Dima. We will definitely come back!

We've been sending our groups to Macao Surf Camp for 8+ years now and it's always the highlight of the trip for our clients. Instructors are very professional and respectful, Macao is the perfect beach all levels of surfers. Eating their fresh fish and coconut water is a must!

The one-on-one classes are great for someone with little to no experience in surfing. The instructors are very experienced and are with you all the time in the water, so you get to learn and have fun while being safe and cheered for. Really, they make great cheerleaders! After the sesh you can just chill out on the beach, enjoy some local food and drinks. Plus, you can get photos taken of your surfing time, so its a cool souvenir to take home and brag about your awesome time in Punta Cana. Totally recommend it.
