- Jenniferguentert0 contributionsHike with WilkinWe booked the hike with Wilkin. It was a great private tour with him. He was a walking encyclopaedia of plants and wildlife. We had a very nice 5 km hike through the Domenican Jungle with him, sometimes it was a bit exhausting in the heat but it was definitely worth it for the view and the beautiful untouched nature. A really great excursion to get out of the hotel. Wilkin was super friendly and spoke very good English. We can highly recommend this tour to everyone.Written August 15, 2024
- Christopher83260 contributionsA good break from the resortA wonderful opportunity for those who would like to see a bit of the Dominican countryside. Nice and quiet with some beautiful sights. Billy, our guide, was really good about taking our pictures along the way. It's dense jungle so I recommend going in the morning to beat some of the heat.Written February 25, 2024
- crisfL795PJ0 contributionsCulebike is the bestI had a great time on this tour! The guide was so patient with my older parents. The bikes were decent quality. The pace was good. The countryside was beautiful. This is definitely not for beginner bikers as you do go through some bumpy areas and there are a few steep hills along busy roads. I would recommend starting the tour earlier in the morning if possible since it was quite hot. We were thankful for the cold water provided along the way, and for the safety car that followed us. Highly recommend this tour if you like to bike, want a little adventure, and want to get out into the countryside a bit!Written December 9, 2023
- 437janelleg0 contributionsFun Hike with Great Views!I highly recommend this experience for nature lovers or anyone wanting to get away from the resorts. It is a lovely hike through a lush mountainous area. The guide, Wilkin, is very knowledgeable about all the plants and animals and takes time to show us everything! After the hike, we went to a small family run coffee farm where we tasted coffee and chocolate. They have beans for sale, so bring cash if you want to take some back with you! It was just two of us on the tour, so it didn’t feel commercialized. Jose also accommodated a time that wasn’t listed as available on Airbnb. Overall, this was a fun way to spend a few hours outside the resort. Thanks Jose and Wilkin!Written June 14, 2023

- xtine160 contributionsIntermediate level hikeTo begin the guides were excellent; the rating is based on the hike itself. It should be advertised as an intermediate hike due to the terrain and elevation. Almost everyone in our group struggled at some point. I did enjoy the fruits and plants but by the last mile, I was just trying to get done. It was morning but very hot. The guide on the hike was encouraging and helped us through the streams and mud. Everything listed on the tour was provided. One issue was the confirmation. It was sent after 9 p.m. and we went to bed early. I expect a confirmation much earlier than that. The tour guide spoke English and French as requested. On the way back, we stopped for coffee and information on coffee and cocoa which was very interesting. I also brought back a few mangos that we found on the hike and they were the best I had ever tasted! Overall, I would consider if you can do an intermediate hike in the heat before booking this trip. The description was that it was an easy 5k. It was not.Written July 18, 2022

- narin13110 contributionseBike Punta Cana 17km tourA small group of 3 of us completed a 17km e-bike adventure taking in some off roading through villages through to main tarmac riding. The itinerary was interspersed with a mid point break to sample coffee and chocolate and a visual demo of how its made. Oh and we were fed bananas too to keep up energy levels. Guys running the tour were super friendly and attentive. They made the tour fun. Only point to improve upon is to reduce tarmac riding due to heavy traffic at times and more through the villages. A little more bumpier perhaps, however more scenic in terms of sampling local life. Well done guys - strong recommendation. Whoever signs up wont be disappointed.Written April 3, 2022

- KermitNC0 contributionsQuiet time, no loud music, just natureThe only hiking tour available in this part of DR. SMALL group (3 people). Moderately strenuous due to the heat and the hills if you are not used to hiking but take it slow and you will be fine. Wear good shoes! Great way to see what farms are like in DR, as you are hiking along dirt road running through farms on the hill. You will encounter horses along the trail. See various vegetation and livestock along the way. Ride through small towns on the way to the hike.Written May 28, 2021

After a week “on complex” this was a great chance to see some of the real DR and get some light exercise. We stopped half way at a plantation growing coffee, cacao, plantain, vanilla, avocado, papaya, etc and were able to taste some samples and look around the owner’s home. It was really low key and whilst there were some items available to buy, they seemed reasonably priced and there was absolutely no pressure. On the way back we stopped at the side of the road for some delicious and cheap empanadas. Total distance was about 16 km with a mixture of road & track, a stream and a few puddles, etc. Some of the bikes were starting to show their age which is why I rated 4 instead of 5. I would definitely recommend this trip 😁

Amazing experience! Our guides we're extremely friendly and accommodating. They were knowledgeable about the area, history, and local agriculture. We loved seeing the countryside, plantations, and parts of the DR one doesn't get to experience in the beaches and vacation zones. Fully recommend to everyone!

By far one of my favorite excursions ever! This tour was different from any other we have done. We’ve done numerous catamarans tours, snorkeling, zip lining and ATV’s, but bike riding was a first for a tour. We rode through the area of Macao and it was amazing seeing all of the locals and the farmers. We stopped at a plantation where we were able to buy locally grown coffee, tea leave and Mamajuana and yes we were able to travel back with it without any issues. We stopped at a local Colmado (grocery store) for some delicious tamarind juice. Our tour guide was the best! I would highly recommend this tour, don’t be afraid it’s an Ebike and it made going up hills a breeze. A must do when in Punta Cana!

The e-bike ride was on of our favorite activities during our vacation. Wilkins was a great guide who answered all of our questions. Jose, the driver was also there many times during the trip to take our pictures at various points in the journey. The scenery is fantastic and we really enjoyed going though several of the small towns. The ride is not very difficult for even new riders but it is still very enjoyable. We also had the bonus experience of being the only 2 people on our particular ride so we got to really talk to Wilkins as well and learn more of the culture and daily life in D.R.

Pros—
Great way to see local towns safely.
Back up car always with us with water , to take photos (free) and to watch bikes when we went on brief tours of coffee & chocolate farms. Some expectation to purchase but not a big deal.
1/2 on road, 1/2 off.
Don’t have to be a biker but be prepared for bumpy, pot holey back roads. You get dirty.
Driver and tour guides were informative and nice.
Would definitely recommend and we would do it again!
Cons—
Bikes were ok but no suspension and battery assist. Don’t go for an awesome, educational biking experience; go to see how people live in the area.
A really nice 3 hour excursion that we would do again!
FYI—because we booked excursion ourselves, pick up van was not allowed out grounds of our resort (Royalton Punta Cana) so we had 10 minute walk to entrance for pick up. No big deal, but good to know.

Wilken and Jose were wonderful tour guides! Both very relaxed and friendly. I was the only one on the tour and got a very personalized experience. Not rushed, easy 17k pedal through 3 small communities, through farmland trails, and a visit to a coffee/ cocoa plantation (where the owners generously open their home to visitors). Wilken shared lots of knowledge about the local area and various flora.
One of the best tours I’ve done. Well organized and felt very safe as a solo female traveller.
While some may find biking along the road with traffic intimidating, I actually felt very safe. I’ve biked in larger cities in Canada and actually felt safer biking here than back home.

First the negatives...
1. Poor quality bikes. Buckled/loose wheels, poor brakes and slipping gears. They all need to be replaced and soon as some are just dangerous.
2. The route. Mostly tarmac roads some of which are busy with coaches and lorries passing close to you. There was a nice section of dirt track but that didn't last long unfortunately.
For some reason I thought we would be riding mostly off road which was disappointing.
3. The total trip distance was about 9 miles there and back. Lots of stops due to faulty bikes.
And now the positives...1.Great company from the guides. 2. Nice stop at the plantation and house. 3. Nice to see some real DR.

First the 2 folks that ran the tour, the pickup driver and the ride leader were great. They were however let down by the equipment and route. The bikes were in severe need of maintenance- low batteries, bad brakes, gear shifts inoperative. And the route was mostly on paved roads with cars, trucks, busses etc. The dirt road in the description was nowhere to be found.
If you go, thoroughly check the bike before starting out!

Very friendly guide and driver. Great experience overall, would definitely recommend. My only suggestion would be for the guide or driver to contact the tourists the morning of whatever day the activity is scheduled instead of 30 min. to an hour before.

I love to do bike tours and we usually do one on every trip we go on. I also do not like to give poor reviews. A couple things to think about if you are going to go in the tour.
1. The first 3 miles is very bumpy. If anyone in your group suffers back pain or neck pain this will trigger it for sure.
2. We went at 2:00 pm and experienced a lot of traffic that is very close to you. If anyone in the group is not experienced in riding this will scare them. Also it is not super safe.
3, there is very little interaction by the person actually doing the tour and we had someone in our group fluent in Spanish. More explanation of things and what to expect would of been nice.
Now things that we enjoyed
1. Seeing the DR by bike and going through small towns was great.
