This was INCREDIBLE! I had initially had tons of problems with diving, including equalization problems and tooth squeeze. However, my instructor, Ed, was very cool about it and helped me get my certification. I'm sure that at any other dive shop I would've been unable to get my open water certification. I would like to thank this dive shop and specifically Ed for that. The boat wasn't the nicest ride but the tanks stayed in place and the instructors are REALLY nice! All of them are very professional and show you what they see! I saw Goliath Grouper and a Green Moray Eel and only because the instructor pointed that out! (Maybe it's hard to miss a grouper my size though!) It was truly great. The wreck we went to was called the "Atlantic Princess" and it was spectacular! It had everything from big fish to the massive boat and a nearby reef! The dive shop is next to many incredible reefs and wrecks! ITs a very safe experience with kind staff, and more! Although, Like anywhere in the Dominican I wouldn't recommend leaving items like phones or wallets on the boat! Everything you need for diving, however, is safe and sound! I full-heartedly recommend this shop and again I would like to thank the instructor Ed!

We had a wonderful experience with the instructors of Coral Point Scuba Diving our baptism to the world of scuba diving.
Barbara and JD were so patient and clear with their instruction and guidance. I am inspired to take the rest of the course when I can and I would encourage anyone in for their first dive to do it with the Intl crew of Coral Point diving

Patri and Ed were the best instructors ever, tailoring the whole course to make it clear, useful, and so much fun! Everyone working there is so friendly and excited about diving. Booking was simple, and transportation is available for some resorts. Highly recommend diving through Coral Point as opposed to one through a resort.

As a diver with a little bit of experience (70 dives), I watched my boyfriend undertake his Open Water at Coral Point these last few days.
I joined for 4 fun dives as well (refreshing some of my open water skills in the process). His instructor Ed, was really great. My boyfriend speaks little English, and so with the help of a french-speaking and fantastic dive master Clara, I had no concerns with his formation. The quality of teaching, the general encouragement, and the jovial enviroment was fantastic. Kudos to both Ed and Clara for their efforts!

Coral Point is definitely a dive shop I'd come back to - it not a factory, the quality of teaching is great, and you are spoilt with the variety of dive sites (reefs, wrecks, great diversity of fishes!), agreeable water temperatures (even in Winter!), and a welcoming, multilingual environment!

Both my daughter and I completed the open water dive course this week at coral point. We made the hour drive from Punta cana base on other recommendations. We sure are glad we did. The place is very well organized and has plenty of staff from all over the world to help. We were assigned Ed as an instructor. Ed was a life long diver and very experienced. He was calm smart and was able to deliver the information in a way that was easy to understand. His knowledge and disposition took any fear or worry out of going 60 feet under water the first time. I felt totally secure and with him by are side I was at ease. The dive sites were all packed with great stuff to see and an easy boat ride from shore. The town was great and the restaurant next to the dive shop was great.

Sep 2012 • Friends
We were staying in Dreams La Romana for 2 weeks from 17th September 2012 and I decided to book my PADI Advanced Openwater Course with Coral Point Diving in Bayahibe. My friend did his PADI Openwater Course at the same time.

I decided to go with Coral Point rather than the hotel based dive shop based on price and the fact that Gianluca came back to me almost immediately by email to confirm prices etc. I was impressed. They were also quite a bit cheaper. Their web site was easy to navigate and to see the cost of the course. I have found this is not always the case.

We were met on the first day of our holiday at the hotel and taken to the dive shop by taxi. But we decided to walk after this, as it is literally a 5-10 minute walk along the beach. The dive shop will provide complimentary taxi if required though. The town of Bayahibe is quite pretty and full of cafes and bars. The locals are friendly.

We arranged the dives which we would do and met with Daniele and Gianluca a few days later to begin.

Equipment
The equipment provided was good and fitted well. It was clear that it had been taken care of.

Boat
The boat used is an 11 seater and was captained by he same person each time we went out. It is comfortable and easy to put on your equipment at your seat.

Staff
I have been diving in quite a few places including another resort in the Dominican Republic and I can say these guys are the friendliest I have met. They will talk through each dive with you before heading out and are more than happy to chat about their conservation work in the area. They are actually interested in growing coral and conserving reefs etc, not just in it for the money. Which I liked.

I completed the Advanced Openwater including wreck diving and deep diving and felt very safe and relaxed with both Gianluca and Daniele. We worked through the skills one by one until correct. They also worked through the knowledge reviews one by one to make sure you knew what you were supposed to! I also completed the Speciality Wreck Diver Course which was brilliant and fairly cheap.

Dive sites
The reefs on the south of the island are amazing and are packed with all sorts of marine life. There are also three really good wrecks to dive. The Atlantic Princess is relatively shallow and can be entered quite easily. This would be fairly easy for beginners to see. There are lion fish which sit inside, some of them quite large!

The St George is a deep dive and is a must see. Its pretty massive and you can enter it too. This was the highlight of my diving in Bayahibe. I spent two dives here.

The third was the Cocao which is partially submerged. This was interesting to visit and would recommend it.

In all I remember there being 24 dive sites which is more than enough for the two weeks we were there.

Courses
They offered all of the PADI Courses and I would like to return to do my Rescue Diver Course in the future.

Trips
We didn't do any external trips while we were there but Coral Point can arrange these for you. We did consider Catalina to go diving but for one reason or another couldn't get around to it. The price was competitive and we would have had a private speed boat rather than the jam packed sardine class boats you seemed to get from other providers. apparently the diving on Catalina is superb.

My friends girlfriend fancied diving but was unsure. Gianluca offered to take her into the bay at Bayahibe and go through her skills to see if she wanted to go out for a proper dive. He said there wouldn't be a charge for this. She ended up not doing it but the offer was there which was nice.

If you are looking to dive in Bayahibe and are looking for friendly, professional instructors who wont just take your money and run then seriously consider Coral Point Diving. You wont regret booking with them.

Don't be afraid to ask me for any info :-)

I've been diving several times before but chose to complete my Open Water certification in Bayahibe with Coral Point. I'm glad I did - Gianluca was a fantastic instructor and his team made everything smooth sailing for us. He is Italian, but is one of the most linguistically gifted people I have met. Not only is his English perfect, he also speaks Spanish, French, German, even a bit of Arabic. He's a pro diver and has stories from Cambodia, Egypt, Thailand, Europe... Just ask. Boats were small, dive groups intimate. Gianluca is also a marine biologist so quite helpful if you're at all interested in the science behind everything you see. Highly recommended, Gianluca and his team can also walk you through every advanced certification offered by PADI.

I did my first discovery Scuba here in 2018 and knew I had to come back to get my Open Water and Advanced Open Water certs in 2019. The staff here is so friendly, personable, and professional. They create such a fun and welcoming environment. Multi-lingual crew plus some amazing dive sites! Shout out to Jose!

My buddy and I dived with Coral Point in March 2016 after having checked out some of the other local dive operators. The dive centre is located towards the east end of Bayahibe village and although it is within walking distance of Dreams La Romana where we stayed, a boat will come and pick you off the beach next to Dreams and even drop you off afterwards if you wish (although we enjoyed the walk back through Bayahibe and along the beach).

The dive centre is perhaps one of the most attractively set and friendliest we have ever come across. The centre's idyllic location right next to the beach means you only have to take a few steps across the sand to board the dive boat (compared to the other local dive outfits where you had to walk down the road to get to the boats - we saw some divers being given a lift in the back of an equipment pick-up truck to save them having to walk). The centre is very well equipped and in addition to the thatched open-air first floor classroom it even has a small bar/restaurant next to it for drinks and light meals (the beach-side setting was perfect for an after-dive drink) and the two spacious toilets are very handy for a quick change of clothes. Although the dive centre is Italian-run, some of the instructors/dive masters were American/Canadian and everyone spoke very good English and were very friendly and helpful. The centre is very eco-aware and appreciates a small contribution towards coral propagation/preservation.

The dive boats were not large so between our dives the tanks were changed over by the 3 dive staff (plus captain) whilst the half dozen or so divers sat towards the front. Water was provided. Although there were no big fish around (overfishing by locals was blamed) the diving was still varied and interesting and both the St George and Atlantic Princess wrecks were worth doing. The dive prices were very competitive.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time diving with Coral Point and cannot recommend them highly enough. They would certainly be a reason for us to go back to Bayahibe.
