Benjamin gave brilliant service and we enjoyed snorkelling on Paradise island immensely. Excellent tour. The guide was helpful and being accompanied by Benjamin was a bonus. He was informative and helpful. Thanks you.

Now, I must admit to my mistake – not realising how far this tour is to our hotel, in Punta Cana. However, despite the hotel being nearly six hours drive away my booking was accepted, and money was taken. The day before the trip we checked where Puerto Plata City is and were shocked to find that it is a ridiculous six hours drive away, totally impractical! I attempted to contact Gillary Tours the day before, as it was too late to cancel the tour, but no one responded. On the day I waited at the pick-up time of 8 am. They called me half an hour before and said that no problem, we could reschedule to the next day for a slightly later time, add an additional traveller and the tour would be like the original tour, details of which to follow shortly – they didn’t. Next day, a shabby, very questionable roadworthiness vehicle turned up, the driver and tour guide “Stevie Wonder”. It became apparent that the tour guide wouldn’t fit so we set off without him, but still hoped we would have a fun tour, to include a Cable car ride; visit to park; and various other sightseeing opportunities, as listed in the Puerto Plata City Tour. Our driver had problems finding the first stop and had to reverse quite some distance on a dual carriage way, maybe the rules are different in Dominican Republic?! Anyway, finally arrived at a venue where we watched cigars being made, could sample some rum produce, but no free samples, and buy jewellery, etc. Then a long drive to a Cathedral, no idea as to where we were going next as we had no itinerary, we couldn’t speak Spanish and our driver could only speak very little English – we were getting quite anxious! We eventually arrived but had no interest to view what is I’m sure a nice Cathedral. Next visit was to a market, why? We were dropped off and invited to wonder around the market, in a strange place where I guess we could sample some of the local culture, but we couldn’t wait to get back to the shabby car, at least it worked and would take us away from the area. He took us to another supermarket, but we were basically so relieved when we were eventually taken back to our hotel. Maybe I should have had a better grasp of the local geography of the island, but once our money was taken one would normally believe that everything is in order. The replacement Tour, whilst I’m sure it was intended to make good the stupid error, it certainly was nothing like the original Tour and NOT what we should have expected for the money paid. I raised this with TripAdvisor/ Viator but they declined my request for a refund. You’ve been warned!

Avoid this company They canceled our tour the night before and now I’m working with my credit card company on getting my money back .

My friends and I went on an excursion called "Paradise Island Puerto Plata" . First of all we had to drive 2 hours to get to the town where we would be taking the speedboat to the island which we were never informed of, regardless we get on the speedboat and it keeps shutting off in the middle of the water, something that happened multiple times which was very unsafe. After that we got on the island which was COVERED in garbage, miscellaneous pieces of clothing that were left from other people. Then when we want to snorkel they tell us we had to wait as there were only 5 and there were 12 OF US, quite unsanitary as you have to put the snorkels in your mouth straight from the other person. At the island we watched our car driver and boat driver both have alcoholic drinks (that were meant for us along with our snacks) and smoke marijuana then both proceeded to take us back. Our driver on our way back to Puerto Plata got into a HEAD ON COLLISION with a woman on a motorcycle and we had to attend to this women with a fractured leg and exposed bone and take her ourselves to the hospital in our drivers van 30 min out leaving the rest of our group of friends to fend for themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere with no way to get back to us. It is absurd that Trip Advisor would allow businesses like this to operate on their website which would have been considered to be safe. I will never again book anything through this website after the traumatic experience we all had. We paid over $800 for this trip and that is absurd due to the complete lack of competency, endangerment and downright unprofessionalism that we experienced. Look forward to a response from your team.

Everything was nice! Would recommend. The food was good as well. Guide is helpful. He came to pick up from airbnb. The activity was fun.

Eddy & Hector were the best. Ask for them as your guides and Paparazzi. Communication for pickup was perfect also via WhatsApp, and my driver Santiago was a very nice guy! I am a very active person (doing marathons and other competitive things) so this activity I had the time of my life. You get to swim in caverns, they have cool little slides built into the rocks, you can jump, waterfalls everywhere, truly amazing experience and will never forget it. They give you a USB of great photos and videos of you jumping swimming climbing everything. You’re really getting an awesome jungle experience here. The views of the caverns and the rest of the jungle were awe inspiring. If you’re gonna do this type of activity please choose these guys. Also they give you full buffet lunch after and the food was great. They bring you to a nice campus building with restaurant, you get your life jacket and helmet, then you take very small walk up the hill to go to the top of the waterfalls. Then after everything you come back, they have very nice clean showers, dry off, relax, have lunch, and they transport you back to your hotel. Choose these guys!!!

Not what was described in the description. We requested an English speaking guide and though he was nice he did not speak much English. There ended up not being enough seats in the vehicle and the ride was much longer than we were told. There was also no snorkel for our daughter and the snorkels we were given did not work great. The guide was nice and did his best and did she some off the beaten path, which was nice.

I have to say this was the best experience and tour I have had in Puerto Plata no doubt!! Our tour guide Marlin was extremely friendly and stopped by local spots to treat use to some delicious sweets, fruits and drinks on the way to our long drive to the beach and back, where we got to see the cultural side of the DR. The boat ride to paradise Island was full of fun and was definitely an adrenaline rush! We definitely got more then we expected and I highly recommend this tour to anyone coming to the DR!!

This was an absolutely awesome experience. Despite being picked up late because of communication issues i would definitely recommend this experience. It turns out that they tried to get in touch with us to arrange another date because others had cancelled and when they couldn't they still honored our booking. About 20 after i called to find out if they were coming Benjamin showed up in the company car to take us where we needed to go. So essentially we got private transportation there, which was a nice plus for us. He did a good job was knowledgeable about stuff when my husband asked questions about the country etc. Now as for paradise island a definite must see and go to. If you like sand bars if you like snorkeling or like adventuring. It was beautiful in the water there with lots of fish and fish types as well as some reef. Had the experience of swimming through a school of jellyfish! The beauty there, of the water. Only downside is that we found there was quite a bit of people there by the we left which made for a poorer experience. I must also say that the food included was pretty good (better than at the resort we stayed at) Overall it's a must do and Benjamin and Gillary Tours does it well!

Great experience with Gillary Tour. Our driver Esmil/Melvin for taking us to the sight and for taking us to get a taste of young coconut, that was delicious and refreshing. Such a very great service from him. Also Benjamin the tour operator/owner he made sure that we were okay and that everything's fine. The hike was about 30mins both ways. So lucky that we were with small groups and since the one following us was with the cruise people which will make it more longer especially jumping and sliding thru the water. Jumping in the water was so freshing after that long hike. It was really a fun experience for us.

We had a great time with our tour guide and new friend David. This was a new, exciting adventure for all three of us. The hike to the falls takes about 30 minutes, uphill. Come ready for a decent hike. The falls were great and refreshing. You can jump, slide, or climb down into the water, but don't be afraid to jump. You can do it, and it's worth it.

Esmeldi, our driver, made this a fantastic excursion. Thank you Esmeldi for such a wonderful time! The excursion was beautiful, just make sure you bring lots of sun screen! This experience was so much more than we paid for. This was by far the best snorkeling my wife and I have ever done. The island was beautiful, the water was crystal clear, and it was an all around phenomenal time.

We (party of 4) took a private taxi (Mejia Taxi) for a price of $150 to take us from the hotel to the boat and for guide and paid $$130 for boat, food and drink and for snorkeling. It was a small boat , but the island and mangrove were great experience. When we saw the big boat came in to the island, it was packed and we were glad that we didn't use that. Our small boat stopped in between at a shallow coral water and we swim around there too. Drinks were ok , but food was below standard. Other than that the place was really beautiful.

Went on 3 different tours with Gillary tours. Benjamin is a fantastic guide and genuine person. All the guides we had were fantastic and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend Gillary tours (Benjamin) to anyone interested in or around puerto plata area
