          Great outdoor experience
Booked this excursion outside of the cruise line. Directions very clear on where and when to meet. Guides were organized and on time. We had 3 kids ages 7,13, and 14 with only 2 adult so the staff was able to take our third child in the buggy with them. We were very grateful for this! The tour was a total of 2 hours on the buggy. We had a stop at a small gift shop and tried some Dominican coffee, chocolate, and mamajuana. We then headed to a small beach area. The tour was very fun and muddy! You will get very dirty and soaking wet so be prepared. Lots of fun and would do again!

          Find another excursion
DO NOT BOOK. Def not worth the price… u mainly drive on either the main rd thru a neighborhood or on the side of the main road in a trash filled ditch… u go thru 1 “mud “ experience.. but it’s really more trash then anything.. and the beach isn’t anything special. The trip was 90mins in total and that’s with 30 mins at the beach to eat.

          Really yucky. Some fun parts.
I definitely wouldn’t have gone in this excursion if I understood what it was really like. You are not doing a dune buggy in the jungle you are driving through the literally street water of Puerto Plata. There are some more rural areas that you drive through as well but then you’re at risk for getting cow poo flying in your face as you’re driving through the mud. It’s more unsanitary and disgusting than like fun dirty mud. There is one part where you drive through a pond and where you go to the beach and can get some local food. I will say this is probably the best part of it.

          dirty but fun
We had a great time. The crew were very friendly and treated us well. I would recommend to anyone that loves adventure. You will get dirty and covered in mud so dress accordingly.

          Cruise excursion
Not good snorkeling. First spot was basically 2 rocks about 12 feet down and they were feeding the fish white bread to attract them. The second was back in Sosua bay and in 20+ feet of water. This has more fans but hard to see given depth. They kept us tight knot and the flailers and kickers abounded. I will give them credit that they actually sailed most the way back which was preferable to the 1 hr bus ride to start the trip.

          Finding Nemo was a success
Fun, fun, fun! The water was spectacular. All of the different marine life made this experience exactly what my family was looking for. Staff made sure everyone had a phenomenal time. They played great music for adults (could skip some songs that used bad language), overall the Catamaran was clean and the food was good. Tony was a great host….

Welcome to the MUD Parade!! FUN!!!
Fantastic!! Frank and Victor were absolutely the best!! Great ride, lots of mud and mud and mud !! But a strategic beach stop to wash off before the next mud parade! Bring goggles, wear old clothes, water shoes and gators! Best day, cant wait til Spring 2025 to do it again!

          Dirty Fun for Everyone!!
Amazing fun! I am a 60-year-old Grammy and my kids were shocked that I enjoyed this excursion so much. Haha! We got SO muddy!!! Once that first wave of mud hits you, you feel like you're already messy so just sit back and enjoy letting go. My husband enjoyed speeding through the mud and being a badass! I can't say enough about how wonderfully caring the tour staff were. Everyone was so helpful and nice! Like one of the other commenters, I did not see lockers and was going to suggest that future tourists bring a trash bag to cover your belongings because ours got super-nasty. But then I saw the lockers when we returned. They were behind the desk where you get signed up. The trash bag could still be a good item to bring. Wear a mask or balaclava to keep the mud out of your mouth. The stop for souvenirs and tastings was really fun and I was happy to patronize some local families. And the beach was a wonderful respite from the craziness of the adventure. 100% FUN!!! Do it!!

          Puerto plata buggy ride.
My wife and I loved this off road experience. We never do stuff like this on holiday and we're glad we did. That being said, you WILL get very wet and very dirty...there's also very little in the way of padding in the buggies, so you will feel every bump on the road...and there are many. I highly recommend wearing a bandana and pool/sea shoes as your feet get wet too. Also, wear clothes that you're happy to throw away afterwards, or you can wash out very quickly after the trip. Heads up! As well as driving through the beautiful DR countryside, you also drive through small villages and have to cross main roads. The jewellery sellers at the beach stop can be a nuisance, but just be firm and you'll make it off the beach without emptying your wallet. I'd highly recommend this trip.

          Exciting and Adventurous
I've been on many ATV excursions and this was by far one the the best. This was the longest actual ride I've ever experienced

          Best Excursion on the Island!
This was hands down the best excursion ever! Our crew was great! The bus ride to get there was 2 hours - but worth the wait! The "island" is actually a sand bar surrounded by a reef that you can snorkel over. Clear waters and lots of life to see. Don't think you will have it to yourself - there was about 250 people there all at once - 3 big boats each holding 50 people and about 10 or more speedboats each holding about 12 or so... but still very cool!

Give this “ Adventure a missfor improvement
Friendly staff. But no instruction. Machines old, not well maintained, some broke down repeatedly. First stop at the gift shop, not sugar cane field as on brochure, was a run down gift shack. A plastic chair collapsed with a woman injured, laying on the floor,no assistance from the untrained staff was forthcoming. ( Or first aid kit. ) The second stop was on a beach, with a run down shack offering food, beer. Behind with the jungle was literally a rubbish dump, filled with garbage. Value for money, not really.

After being on the bus for three hours and finding out that the Navi did not give clearance for the boat to take us to Paradise Island and having to take the bus back to resort for another 3 hours - it was a waste of a day!! Save your money and time and don’t do this tour!! Also they told us that the island has shrunk by 30 percent and many tour boats go which means there is not much room for everyone and no bathrooms you are on island for 2.5 hours.

An amazing and educational trip. Matias and Giuseppe were great. The ride was long but well worth it. We had drinks and fruits once we got to Cayo Arena. Matias did a great job taking photos and videos of me and my partner. An unforgettable experience.

The tour itself was ok, but we were told it was a 1 1/2 hour bus ride to the boat and it ended up being 2 hours and 45 minutes. The travel time was too long and we wouldn't have wasted the day travelling on a bus. If the Sunwing adviser had of told us the truth, we would have stayed at the resort for the day and saved our money.

Hi Diana, I am sorry that you were wrong informed regarding the bus ride to the boat. However, you didn't book the tour through us , it was with SUNWING.

The place is rammed with tourists from all over the place who have all paid to get there from different ferry companies..( were talking about 12-15 boats ) all there just waiting for the folks to take they’re time stay there for a couple of hours then leave ..don’t expect the idyllic photo that you see on google ..expect something more like the photo here ..over 130 people in such a very tiny island..just totally rubbish ..no toilet facilities..so people are pissing in the clean waters ...then you get the odd one with a drone taking photos without asking permission ..I could go on and on how bad this trip is but you get the idea ..oh and you also get the odd drunktard from the VIP ferry trip to get to the island who can hardly stand ..etc etc ,wouldn’t return

Thank you for posting a review and we are sorry you had a bad experience. If you would go in the summer / fall it is an completely different experience much less people and a lower tide so the island is bigger. At the moment it is high season and a lot of people going to the island. We also offer a Private VIP tour to Paradise Island, we leave very early in the morning so we arrive to the island before all the organized tour boats are coming. So you have a few hours almost alone on the island.

I went with VIP overpriced tour - not worth the money nor time. Best I think to go with cheap speed boats for half an hour max - just for snorkelling. On picture it looks empty in reality you will be surrounded by hundreds of people - so much for a paradise feel!

This trip was a long ride from our hotel near Puerto-Plata ( Sosua).. other wise our tour guide was excellent and our destination to Cayo arena was absolutely breath taking and that made up for the ride! Once we arrived to the sand bar, we had fruits and drinks. I went snorkeling with the “aqua man”. He was absolutely great!!!! Food was tasty & the little shop we went to for our bathroom break was nice! I’d definitely do it again!

I loved this and was one of my fav excursions I've been on and I've been in punta Cana Mauritius etc . None beat this one . I'd go back to Puerto Plata just to do this again . No cons no extra selling just snorkelling ! Speed boat out snorkelling and enjoying the beach and speedboat back no messing about that's what I wanted that's what I got . Would do it again althought I did this ten years ago so hopefully it hasn't changed

Be prepared for about a 2 hour bus ride to and from, but otherwise we had a great day. It was very cool to be on a tiny sand bar drinking rum and eating fresh fruit after snorkeling.
