About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 882sillel0 contributionsNo showDespite the tour service provider managing to do the tour in no time instead of 8 hours, the tour was not what we expected. Instead of an unforgettable journey to Samana Bay we had a pretty forgettable journey from our room to the lobby to wait for the guide for an hour to pick us up. During the 2nd part of the tour we didn't have to watch out of the window during the ride that was supposed to lead us to Cayo Levantado, but got to have some breakfast instead. The tour service provider seems to take the good night sleep necessity of their employees very seriously since no one was responding to our requests at 6 am, after the guide should have arrived half an hour ago. Luckily they were more responsive to TripAdvisor and I have never received a refund so fast!Written November 14, 2024
- foreverj20240 contributionsDon’t do this excursion-Too much travel timeTravel included 2 buses and 3 boats EACH WAY! A total of 2 hours travel to and from (4 hours total) just transportation. If you have any mobility problems, AVOID at all costs this excursion. Imagine getting on a boat and then having to get onto another boat that the waves are pushing it into the other boat. We had two older people on our trip and I was really worried for them getting into these other boats as they are bumping into and away from the other. All it would take is one misstep and you could fall between the boats and get hurt or crushed (aka dead). Snorkeling was bad. They didn’t have the snorkels and masks cleaned from the last trip. They just handed you a dirty snorkel and mask and wanted you to dip it in this bucket (with no soap) to “clean it “ yourself. When snorkeling the water is grey and murky. I saw two small fish. Very lame since they said it’s the “best reef” in the DR. Also saw jellyfish which then I decided to get out of the water because I’m positive they did not have any proper emergency supplies if you got stung. The beach on the other side was nice but the rock shelf that you had to try to walk over to get into the water was dangerous . Another mobility issue. Even if you are firm footed it was ss till east to fall on the rock shelf because it was slippery. The buffet food was rice, watermelon and fatty gross meat. (Note- the food in the DR is downright terrible. I lost weight being there by 7 pounds because even at our all inclusive hotel, the food was practically inedible. Never fresh, always from a bag, frozen and then microwaved. (You quickly realize you are in a 3rd world country and the pretty beach pics weren’t telling the whole story.) Also don’t go to the DR if you don’t speak Spanish. They discriminate against non Spanish speakers by acting and saying rude things to you. You don’t get treated well, Especially if they find out you’re American. Bottom line, travel time in total was not explained to us. We were told an hour by boat but not the additional hour by bus and charging buses and changing boats. It was exhausting and it’s so dang hot you can easily get heat stroke.Written September 1, 2024

- mickwM7954NJ0 contributionsCancelled day of tour with bogus excuseWe booked this trip and paid over $400 for it. Confirmed with the tour company that pickup would be at our hotel at 8:30am on the day. Received a request to cancel ‘due to weather’ the day of the tour. This day happened to be the most beautiful weather of the whole week. Clear blue skies, gorgeous sunshine. This company really let us down and then was unreachable by phone, text or in app messenger.Written July 22, 2024
- Joseph G0 contributionsDisappointing tourThe announced 45-minute tour (in reality it’s much less) through the Colonial Zone gives you a bird’s eye view of sites you want to visit and see at your leisure. The train moves too fast and it is too noisy (and confusing with the language mix) to understand the commentary of what you are expected to observe. Conclusion: it’s not worth doing this tour.Written June 12, 2024
- Maurice J0 contributionsA very full day!Alex our tour guide from mamajuana tours and driver to the activities was an amazing and helpful host. He was on time sharply at 5:30am and made the trip smooth. The activities themselves were a meet up of several tour companies coming together at the same time for the same activities. In our case, we were coming from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana where the activities were held. Fair warning, this is a tourist trap and you will be asked several times to buy or tip someone throughout the activities. Everything was fun and safe. The buggies will get you very dirty, be careful what you bring and have a change of clothes, showers were available to rinse off. Water was provided and some tasting of local products was at the end of the safari piece. Would recommend if you like a packed day of activities in one general area.Written June 2, 2024
- zorad2660 contributionsMy Island of HappinessA place for gourmets: a daily symphony of crab, lobster, shrimp, roast lamb, pork and turkey, Caribbean delicacies, exotic fruits, magical Dominican coffee, cocoa and rum cocktails. Friendly Caribbean sea for swimming and diving and a spacious beach with palm trees, neighbor to the presidential beach. Spacious rooms, daily cleaning of not only the towels, but also the bed linen. The hotel buildings are surrounded by palm trees. 5 minutes on foot from the bus stops, from which you can go to Boca Cica, San Pedro or Santo Domingo for 2 dollars. The animation invites merengue games, theatrical miniatures, especially generous to the children's audience.Written May 20, 2024

- Michael S0 contributionsGreat beach, very disorganized company.I got the option to arrive at the meetup location (I was staying close) but was offered the option to get picked up for free which I accepted, while asking when would they pick me up. They stopped answering my messages so I was confused if I should wait for them or get to the meetup location, but then they answered at 8pm (pickup was 6:30am). I asked who would pick me up and the license plate and they never answered. After that, they didn't communicate with the 2 ladies in the next pickup, which we had to wait until almost 9am (2.5hr in the van) to pick them up. That means we lost 2.5hr of the beach tour and only were there for less than 3hr. The catamaran and boat ride and The beach were fantastic. The lunch was fine. There is no area for boats, which means they get real close to where people are in the beach, sometimes asking people to move away instead of them getting to the beach a bit farther. The tour implies what is paid for and what is extra, but then every tour guide would ask for tips, including the van driver who made us wait. If you want to, feel free to tip additional, but don't feel obligated or pressured since they are already paid. Overall, great beach, partially friendly staff, very disorganized company.Written April 14, 2024

- I4732KEjeremyd0 contributionsAlex and Cayo Arena were awesome!Alex is a fantastic guide and driver. We would give him 10 stars if we could. He arrived early and was attentive to make sure everyone in our party was happy and comfortable. The drive is long, however, it was very interesting to see and experience the DR countryside and talk with Alex about life in the DR. Cayo Arena was amazing. It has some of the best snorkeling and scenery. We certainly recommend Alex and this day trip.Written March 28, 2024
- May M0 contributionsGreat combo of activities! It was a fantastic tour! Our family enjoyed all the stops and the lunch! All the guides were kind and entertaining!! The only thing is that we never made it to Macao beach and it was never explained to our group why that was omitted. I wished someone said something. We were all looking forward to it especially after getting quite muddy from the buggie ride :-) Our driver, Robert, was awesome!! He made the 3 hour trip easy and relaxing!Written March 27, 2024
- 489arki0 contributionsExcellent!Great trip. I fully recommend going with a friend or group. Some people will offer to take some pictures of you with their cameras. The pictures are quite expensive so be mindful of that.Written March 14, 2024
