Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- 532kelcieh0 contributions10/10This was an amazing tour! The price is so reasonable considering the experience. The waterfalls, slides, and jump were so much fun. All staff were friendly and helpful! Loved stopping and trying coffee and chocolateWritten March 27, 2025
- f b0 contributionsReally good; must be in decent shapeIt was fun but not for the faint of heart and definitely you need to be able to climb mountainous terrain. The slides and jumps are substantial and scary. We loved it but are adventurous types.Written March 27, 2025
- sydneybB5656OL0 contributionsUnforgettable Experience – Above & Beyond Service! We recently did the 27 Waterfalls Excursion and Cocoa Factory Tour with a group of 8, and it was hands-down one of the best experiences of our trip! The waterfalls and caves were absolutely breathtaking, and the entire day was so well organized and enjoyable. What really made this excursion stand out was the kindness and care of the crew, especially Mara and Anthony. I happened to be feeling very sick from food poisoning the morning of the tour, and they went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. They never rushed me, offered a hand when needed, and were incredibly patient and considerate the entire time. The food at the waterfalls was fresh and delicious, and the souvenir shop had great items at very fair prices. On top of everything, the team even gave my husband’s parents a ride to their next tour so they didn’t have to wait around for transportation — something they absolutely didn’t have to do, but it showed how much they care about their guests. This excursion exceeded all expectations. From the stunning scenery to the genuinely thoughtful staff, I would give this experience a 10,000/10 if I could. Highly recommend booking — you won’t regret it!Written March 26, 2025
- Kennay P0 contributionsWear GOOD shoes for 2 hour hikeHike- please realize this hike has ROUGH ground. My feet are in pain the next day. The hike is over an hour…uphill 40 minutes isn’t fair to say. It’s another 40 minutes back down with all rocks and water..And LOTS of steep steps. You must be in peak physical fitness to complete this tour!! Also do NOT wear water shoes.. wear chacos or shoes with a sole. The downhill is ALL rocks, thin water shoes were TORTURE. transport- very easy to find with directions. They waited for us with a sign and brought us to the bus. Bus had ac and wifi Food - absolutely fabulous Guides- monkey took great photo’s. They costs $50, worth it to have be memory saved.Written March 25, 2025
- JanaMc06110 contributionsLoved DSRR!We had the BEST time! Carmen took photos for us, told us about the island, and took us everywhere on the list plus a local store we asked to stop at! She even took a postcard to mail for us. I loved the cigar factory and chocolate factory. The fort was nice but not much information there. The rum factory is ok but basically just a tasting and a movie.Written March 24, 2025
- Tyler S0 contributionsFun day at the Cove !It was such a great time. I'm in the cove. It was a unique experience that I've never done before. The several jumps and slides were very fun and the water was clear and woke us up instantly. Our guides were fun and upbeat, including Jennifer, always making us laugh. The food was very good at the end, along with some fun dancing.. would recommendWritten March 22, 2025
- larryu8700 contributionsExcellent SeeviceWhen you are greeted with a free drink you can’t go wrong. Driver was waiting & anxious to take us to our destination Woud highly reyWritten March 21, 2025
- michelleasimpson0 contributionsGreat way to see a lot with a little time! This tour really gave you a little bit of everything of everything. Since I was on a cruise ship and we were only docked in puerto plata for one day, I really wanted to make the most of the limited time. I appreciated the smaller group size because while at the rum factory there were sooo many huge groups. With a smaller group we were really able to customize our time (add something in or take something out no one was interested in). This was truly the perfect amount of seeing the city and relaxing on the beach. Big thanks to Mara and Lilo for making our time fun!Written March 21, 2025
- Z8108LGzacharyh0 contributionsAwesomeFun, group through waterfalls was large but other the that it was great! Van was clean, driver was great. The waterfalls were amazing.Written March 19, 2025
- Jeannine C0 contributionsBooked this istead of cruise tourHighly recommend!! We did this while visiting from a cruise. This company was very professional and we felt safe. The water parts were a lot of fun but be prepared to walk a lot over rocks (partly uphill) and wait in lines so wear decent water shoes. The photo package was extra and worth it. We also tipped 4 guides who did an excellent job and made the day so much fun. We left our belongings on the bus and no one messed with our things. Bring your passport to get back in the cruise area, some didn't and got stopped by the guard. Thank you again for an amazing experience, everyone was so vibrant!Written March 18, 2025
- lisahen380 contributionsAwesome day at Damajagua FallsHike in is moderate. Would recommend water shoes with a descent sole. Ours were thin and we could feel some of the rocks. Waterfalls were fantastic. Of the 7 one was a jump, 2 you walked down stairs/ladder and 4 you slid down the waterfall. Guides and photographers were great. They took great photos of us, cost was $45 USD for the photos. Awesome day would highly recommend this tour!Written March 15, 2025
- X8020MUmonicab0 contributionsGreat time with papi!A great experience. Loved the falls and the staff!! Definitely unique and worth doing and liked that our group was small and not 40 like many other groupsWritten March 12, 2025
- janicesS2377XQ0 contributionsDSRR best tours in Amber Cove. Damajagua and Monkey Island! We could not have asked for a better experience. DSRR tours is incredible. We were picked up in an air-conditioned private bus since we had a group of 10. Elizabeth was so fun! 8 of us were going to the Falls. You must be in good shape for this tour! We had our parents with us who are in their 80s. DSRR took my parents to Monkey land while we did the Danajagua Waterfalls. They kept them safe and happy and met back up with us for lunch after. My mom loved the Monkeys sitting on her head! For the rest of us, we made a good hike up the mountain. About 30 minute hike. We had a Main Tour guide in the National Forest, and we paid for a photographer who really became our personal guide. It was great not to worry about pictures. It cost about $50. The forest was beautuful and the waterfalls gorgeous. Remember to tuck your arms in while sliding down the waterfalls! It was truly an excursion my family will always remember! We had a yummy Dominican lunch afterwards and even stopped at a cigar, jewelry, liquor shop. We can not say enough about DSRR and their wonderful hospitality. We would join them again for sure and the cost was a fraction of the cruise excursion price ! Thanks DSRR for tailoring our trip to our specific needs!Written March 12, 2025
- PaulO2420 contributionsWonderful excursion! We had a great trip to the Damajagua Falls that we will remember for the rest of our lives!!! I won't repeat all the other comments (they are true), except for three additional details: The D.S.R.R. team is excellent. Don't hesitate to book directly with them (and it's much cheaper than booking through the cruise ship); You can leave your belongings safely on the D.S.R.R. bus; At the falls site, you will be offered to be followed by a personal photographer ($55 USD): take it, it's worth it and you will be free to have fun. You will be given a phenomenal amount of photos and videos of your exploits on a USB key after the excursion. Enjoy!!!Written March 9, 2025
- NicholeB2420 contributionsI wish I could do it everydayWe had a blast at the falls!! Honestly one of the coolest things we have ever done. Also our driver Lilo was awesome. He taught us how to merengue and was open to any questions we had. Getting to the falls early was key because we beat the crowds and had the falls to ourselves. I would highly recommend this adventure to everyone.Written March 6, 2025

Embarked on a breathtaking waterfall day trip with ziplining—truly a 5-star adventure! The picturesque location left me in awe, with cascading waterfalls and lush greenery at every turn. Jose Miguel, our driver, not only made the journey enjoyable with his friendly nature but also went the extra mile, sharing fascinating insights about the Dominican Republic.
The ziplining experience was nothing short of exhilarating. Claudio, the photographer, not only captured every thrilling moment but also made the entire experience warm and memorable with his friendly and approachable demeanor. An unforgettable day in a stunning setting with an outstanding team—this excursion is an absolute must!

We actually went in February but it wouldn’t let me choose that… anyway there’s a short bus ride and then when they warn you it’s a hike up…it’s a hike up. I had to stop 2-3 times to catch my breath so it’s not for older or unfit people. BUT doing the waterfalls on way back down is AMAZING!! Super cold water but sooo much fun! Unfortunately they lost my pictures. Next time (probably won’t be next time due to my age) but take a camera in waterproof case. Then the zip lining we did in the rain but I loved it. More climbing which was tough but a good time. Food was limited. We were pretty hungry by end so more food would have been nice

Our group had the best time! Zip lining was amazing and very professional. They even kept us entertained by playing baseball while we waited for safety equipment. After zipping through the jungle the waterfalls were refreshing. There is a platform you can jump from or slide down the waterfall. I recommend wearing Jean shorts. The slides are smooth rocks. Enjoy!!

The walk from the port to our pickup spot was long and hot and a little confusing but we finally made it after lots of offered help from other street vendors. There was a little confusion on the meeting time as well, but it all worked out fine. Unfortunately due to the amount of rain the region received our group was unable to get to the waterfalls and ziplines due to the national park being closed but the Exceptcust crew made up for it. I wish I could remember our main tour guide's name, beautiful young lady with Rosario as our driver and Monkey as our photographer. Super crew that we had a great time with! They showed us the local area allowing us to sample authentic DR food and rum and a look into the culture of DR. The beach was beautiful.
Next time we are in the DR, we will absolutely reach out to the crew at Exceptcust!

Thanks so much for choosing Damajagua waterfall Excursion and this wonderful review. I'm so pleased you had a great time and yes, we are very aware of ship
times and make certain you get back to port at least 1 hour before the ship sails. Thanks again and we hope you'll join us on another excursion in the future

This review is of Exceptcust Tours rather than the 7 waterfalls and 5 zip lines. Because of a drought right now, only two pools and waterfalls were active. But nevertheless it was worth it. The zip line was extra, so we didn't go on the zipline.
This review is of Exceptcust Tours which was outstanding. Rosario, our driver, was waiting for us outside the terminal gate with his custom van with a great "U-shaped" seating, free WiFi, stereo music and a cooler full of just about every canned-bottled drink you can think of. Unlimited amount of drinks INCLUDED in the price. Made us feel like we were in a luxury limo.
Rosario was our driver/guide and he told us a lot about the country as we drove to the park where the waterfalls and zip line were located.
Rosario found us a parking place even closer than the Carnival excursion buses, so we just walked around the corner and were given our life vests and helmets.
Then we started out on our hike to the top of the waterfalls on well groomed trails and amazingly scenic "wilderness." As you should conclude, to walk to the "top" of the waterfalls, the hike was rather arduous and all uphill. I am over 70 and I had no problem walking to the top, but the guides were very courteous and advised anyone who wanted to stop for a breather anywhere on the trail.
Once we arrived at the top, the adventure started with "gorge"ous views of a solid rock gorge, carved over the eons by a stream which ran through it. First stop, was a platform where I jumped from 12 feet high over a pool into the deep water. The second stop was a platform 17 feet high. Both jumps thrilling and perfectly safe.
Alternatives were provided to jumping with natural "water slides" where the stream escaped from the pools downstream. Each pool had an alternative to walk down a ladder to continue the journey through the gorge. Even if you did not want to jump or slide, the swim/walk through the gorge was just breathtaking and worth the excursion in itself.
After the hike back to the trailhead, we were all grateful for Rosario's unlimited drinks in the van. We then were treated (included in the price of the tour) with a lunch of local dishes which was all you could eat.
Rosario then returned us to our meeting place outside the terminal where we said our farewells. I highly recommend Exceptcust for this excursion.
Another reason for signing up with Exceptcust (rather than the Carnival excursion) is Exceptcust is more economical, provides more extras AND perhaps biggest reason, is IF you buy the excursion through Carnival, BECAUSE of liability, you will not be allowed to have the two thrills I experienced in the high jumps into the water, because everyone on the Carnival excursion were not allowed to jump because of Carnival's policy on limiting its legal liability. REPEAT, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO JUMP.
In my opinion, you are doing yourself a favor if you sign on with Rosario at Exceptcust Tours. After our wonderful experience, we are talking with other family members about going on another cruise and we will definitely sign up with Exceptcust and (hopefully) Rosario (if available, because I'm sure he is in high demand) on our next Exceptcust tour.

From my first interaction, this company was a class-act. My boyfriend and I were in Puerto Plata for 5 days for his birthday, and it was important to me to have continuity with the same company for all of our needs for the trip. Reading the reviews I was confident D.S.R.R was the way to go. Jennifer was so communicative and answered all of my questions, even when I was being picky or difficult because I wanted things a certain way - she worked hard to make it happen. We used them almost every day of the trip from airport pickup, to the waterfall / zipline excursion, monkeyland, and city tour, plus our ride back to the airport, all was top notch. Amazing communication via email, text, phone with Jennifer whevever, however you needed it to feel comfortable. If we wanted to modify something in the city tour - we were assured, this was OUR private tour and we could skip or add as we pleased. We learned so much about the history, culture, and people of Puerto Plata thanks to Rosario, Faustino, and kudos to our drivers - traffic is insane there! From unlimited drinks, cold air, wifi, on-time pickups, picture taking for us, easy communication and instructions, there is nothing they could have improved on. I will absolutely use D.S.R.R, Rosario and his amazing team on my next DR trip - you can tell he is passionate about being the absolute best and most reliable in town.
