This tour was not like other tours/excursions I’ve done. It was essentially a private tour with a local family of three guiding the horses for my family. I wish I had known that because usually we end up being part of a larger group. They work only for tips so I tipped 40% because this family literally walked the entire trek and was so patient with us despite the language barrier. Even then, I don’t feel like it’s enough. Local guides should be fairly compensated. The waterfall was beautiful and well worth the hike! And the local lunch that was provided was the best meal we had in the DR!

Was a wonderful experience! We booked a room the night before so as to arrive early and was delighted to see that a restaurant was next to the place we were to be picked up at. All-in-all, we had a wonderful time and our tour guides were very attentive, patient, answered all questions, and gave us many many details.

We missed our initial day booking but communication was great and we got booked for next day. The actual tour was well organized and the guide was helpful with everything we needed. A great day tour to see natural beauty of Samana bay and meet the locals. Highly recommend it!

Lovely watching these majestic mammals in their natural habitat and only down side was too many people on the boat and not enough time to observe. It is truly a bucket list thing to do in the Dominican Republic in March.

Amazing!!!!! I was pregnant during this trip and they were very careful and accommodating. The your guide was very knowledgeable and dedicated. We had such a great time.

The whale watching was magnificent! Bacardi Island is beautiful but be wary of locals on the beach and your purchases. Certainly put a damper on an otherwise amazing day.

We were on the coach, with a change of bus, for three hours before arriving at the the coast. We were not told this. Very hectic there, ushered onto a catamaran, which was overcrowded in my opinion. The captain of this drove like a complete idiot, throwing people around and soaking a good number of us. We were not warned that we would get wet. There were very few whales around, but every time someone from another boat or our boat saw something, we shot off at great speed. No self respecting whale would stay around. The sea was quite choppy and a number of people were ilI. I really felt for them, but still we kept dashing around and being thrown about. Even if there had been whales, the catamaran would have been completely unsuitable as only those sitting at the side could see over the side without standing up and this was impossible as it was so rough. Eventually arrived on the island, which was heaving with people. Toilets were not great, beach loungers came at a cost. The included meal was mediocre and there were flies all over the food. We had been told we would eat at the best restaurant on the island! It was awful. Then had to hand around for 21/2 hours for return catamaran on a beach that was nowhere near as good as the one at our hotel. Wished I’d stayed there. Our guide, was rather hyper, did his best to be jolly, but was really rather irritating. Avoid this trip at all costs.

We had a wonderful experience with this tour. Jonathan was our tour guide and he did a great job. Our group was small, just us and another couple, which was way better than some of the huge groups we saw on other tours. The waterfalls were a great time, and the other stops around the city gave us a feel for the local life. Very happy with our experience.

This was well organized and the manager at checkin shared a lot of interesting facts about the trip. The boat crew was very attentive.

The trail by horse back was filled with rocks. One guy we paid, then the houses don’t tell you but they try to scam money at end of rides. The Limon falls were excellent, but the guides are horrible people.

This is a review of the tour provider and not of the activity itself. If advertised honestly and delivered as described, this would've been a fantastic excursion. But we were unable to contact the provider after purchase. 1. phone number is disconnected 2. 2nd phone number never picked up 3. email address bounces 4. URL does not exist Description says that pickup can be arranged -- not if you can't contact anyone! After not being able to contact anyone, we crossed our fingers and took a taxi to the park ($90 round trip). Got to park, and nobody was there to meet us. Front desk tried to get us to purchase new tickets (which were substantially cheaper than what we paid) until I showed them my tickets on my phone and they honored those tickets and added us to an existing group. All the others in the group had wristbands. Instead of 27 waterfalls, only 7 were open and it was actually more like 4. The others on the tour, the people with the wristbands, knew it was only 7 but we were expecting 27 since that was what we purchased. So basically we paid $307 for tour + $90 for taxi. There was no guide, no 27 waterfalls, no transportation option, no lunch, and only one half bottle of water. This "tour" is a sham. Avoid at all costs.

Went by private taxi service to the falls. On this date (Dec 2/22) we were charged 12usd pp. I thought that was excessive as we were told this was for 12 falls not 7. Perhaps it was a 'special' rate for this date as a cruise ship was docking that day, or I was misinformed. At any rate, it was a great experience although too short. Walk to the first slide wasn't too bad (20-30 min) for this senior. Our group had 3 guides and one of them took many pictures & videos of my family with my camera. No charge, except for optional tip at end which we were certainly glad to give.

I am widely traveled and this is the worst type of excursion that I have seen. The excursion was handed off to some guy named Issual. And he never showed his face. He just told me where to go. Where they put us with two guides that were rude. And didn't know I spoke spanish so they were calling us names. They didn't guide anything. They were rude and dissmissive. They also were abusing the horses. Hitting them with sticks, punching them in the throat. Poking them in the anus with sticks. Yanking on steel bit in their mouths as they struggled over the rocks. Other guides from other companies were on the trail and never did any of these things. When I see animals abused I get upset. I know horses and this was very sad. I am depressed that Viator works with companies like this. I will never do business with this company. And tripadvisor should be ashamed of themselves. Then when we were a few minutes away from the end the two guides separated my son and I and started asking for tips. They told us "good service good tip" this is the English they knew. When I got back I talked to Issual on the phone he acted like he didn't know anything. Then I insisted explaining how they treated us. And he said sorry, have a nice day. Viator and Tripadvisor are awful companies to support this kind of behavior. Leaving tourists in the jungle with people like this.

We purchased this tour but were picked up and take. On another, cheaper your. When I informed the operator of the tour group, they did not respond.

I booked the whale watching tour as part of my holiday to DR. The only reason I went to Punta Cana as part of the trip was to do the whale watching. I contacted the tour organised to conform my place of pick up which I had already sent them two weeks before when I booked. The driver was meant to pick me up at 6.40am. He arrived at 6.20am so I went to the pick up point. He wasn't there. He sent me a picture of the hotel he was waiting at which wasn't my hotel. It was 5 miles away. The driver said he would come back and pick me up. He eventually blocked me on WhatsApp and didn't come and back and get me. The tour organised tried to blame me for sending her the wrong address when I had sent her my hotel and they had gone to the wrong location. I cannot emphasise how much stress and pain this situation caused me. I was looking forward to the whale watching trip so much and because of their incompetency I missed it. To make matters even worse they didn't try to rectify the situation, blocked me from trying to contact them, blamed me refused to give me a refund. I have now received my refund as the overarching company has got involved but that is besides the point. This company cannot be allowed to get away with this type of behaviour and someone should hold them accountable. This company is a joke and the people are completely unprofessional and lack any type of humanity.
