Ahhhh, where to begin. It started out as a simple ride from Cabarete to Puerto Plata, but when the Airbnb experience went left, Joel and his business partner wife stepped in and saved the day by suggesting that Joel could pick up the slack and handle our experience. Delightful is all I can say. From Fort San Felipe to breakfast at Tio Pan to the gondola ride to the top of Puerto Plato to the Amber Museum, the pink lane and the colored umbrella’s he made sure we saw it all in style and the comfort of his air conditioned van.

We booked this service in advance and were thrilled to receive confirmation a day or two before traveling (in both directions to and from the airport). We were met promptly (even though we landed early and breezed through security upon arrival). Our drivers both drove quickly but cautiously through the towns (which is not the case for every driver in the area) and they were friendly and informative. We'll definitely be using this service again next year!

Joel was a good safe driver through sometimes marginal roads, picked us up on time, found our rental and had a nice chat in Spanish with my husband discussing baseball, basketball and our destination. This year my wife and I booked a trip to Casa Marina Resort in Sosua. It was not a package deal so no ground Transportation was included. That meant getting a taxi at the Puerto Plata airport. Prior to going I found “ Joel Rivera Taxi” on Facebook and contacted them, and reserved a taxi to pick us up on the 17th January. They kept in touch with us as time for our trip neared insuring they would be at the airport. As they stated Joel was at the airport with a sign with my name on it when we arrived. He had a newer van that provided a comfortable ride. His price for the ride was the $25.00 going rate that most taxis use for that trip. I was impressed with this service so made arrangements to use it again to attend an orphanage to take some clothes, toys, and treats to for the children. Joel was again on time with his pickup. He took us there and back helping to distribute some of the toys to the children. When our holiday was over there was only one taxi service that I was going to call. Again Joel was there on time. If you are in the Puerto Plata, Sosua, Cabarete area in the Dominican Republic and require ground transportation contact “Joel Rivera Taxi Cabarete”. You will not regret it. Joel was absolutely fantastic! He was accomodating, flexible, prompt, welcoming and kind. He helped over the course of the week, by bringing family members to and from the airport, driving to 27 cascadas, and Laguna Dudu! He had different size vehicles available for the amount of people we had. This ranged anywhere from 3 to 13 people! When we were at each of the places, he would take photos for us, stop along the way, and even went out of his way to help us get some fresh fish. We will use him every time that we have family come down or need driving assistance. I totally recommend Joel Rivera Taxi Cabarete!!
