About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- TravelFever770 contributionsGreat spot for lunch near the Sulphur poolsWe decided to stop by for lunch. The food was great and the team incredibly welcoming. If you are there when they have fruit cake, you must try it! The area is beautiful and the team were happy to answer our questions about the different native plants. The sulphur pools are just round the corner so would recommend making a day out from both! There was a bit of road works on the way which was a bit frustrating but the locals quickly pointed us in the right direction.Written March 6, 2020
- Travelouisa0 contributionsDestroyed by the hurricane...I highly can't recommend this place. The host seemed friendly in the beginning, but then just went too far, without even noticing it himself, wanting things no one should ask a young solo traveling woman for. Additionally that place has not recovered from the hurricanes yet and most things are in poor conditions and the "Wellness" is totally missing.Written October 2, 2018
- LizzaPizza0 contributionsThe place is as amazing as the guy running it, BevinThis place is surrounded by a beautiful view. The actual grounds are equally beautiful, you can tell so much work has been put into them. The cooks did a great job on the food, and Bevin does a great job on the rum punch. We were in heaven here. You meet a lot of interesting people. Perfect spot for those who are going to do the Waitukubuli. We mostly stayed in the tents, which were well ventilated, had comfy mattresses, and everything was very clean. The most luxurious tent camping I think I have ever done. Even when it poured all night, nothing leaked. When my personal hammock I brought with me broke, I hopped into a tent in the middle of the night, and Bevin didn't have a problem with this, thankfully. The rest of my family quickly ditched their hammocks too, in favour of these lovely tents. I was travelling with my family, and I'm sure were quite the pain, considering how unprepared we were, but Bevin was super patient and welcoming anyway. Really great guy. The location was also spot on. There were plenty of things to do in the area, awesome hikes, snorkeling, sulphur springs, ect. For activities further away, you could head to the bus stop just down the road, and the bus to the main city is a short trip. So you could use this as your base for a lot of different activities. My brother and I are already planning our return trip to Dominica, and this time we are setting aside more days to specifically hang out here. It's awesome to find a place where you so quickly find yourself so comfortable. Easy place to fall in love with. Thanks Bevin and everyone else (like Julie!) there for making so many nights of our trip so great.Written January 17, 2017

- Marian C0 contributionsBeautiful retreat in a beautiful areaI have just recently left Rodney's Wellness Retreat and am planning how I can come back before too long to stay there again! It was just wonderful. Just a few minutes easy walk out of the village you have a view of forested mountains and in the beautifully landscaped grounds you really have a chance to unwind and relax. Plus you're only another few minutes walk away from the Soufriere sulphur springs and segments 1 and 2 of the WNT (national hiking trail). Bevin the owner is a great host; welcoming, friendly and relaxed. Plus he's done a lot of work on this place to ensure that it is comfortable and clean and well-drained when it rains. I stayed in a tent with a very comfortable air-mattress and although it rained a fair bit in mid October (sometimes heavily) the tent was totally dry and the ground around about drained well. There are also cottages for people who don't wish to camp. The food at the restaurant was great too, fresh and tasty. I highly recommend Rodney's Wellness Retreat and the area of Soufriere/Scotts Head as a great place to stay in Dominca.Written October 17, 2016

- Annie W0 contributionsBeautiful exotic location close to the Sulphur Springs, Soufriere and Scotts Head.We stayed in one of the cottages for 10 days. It was paradise, coming from the cold UK winter to such a beautiful place. Bevin is an excellent host and his rum punch is well worth trying! He is a font of local knowledge and on hand to offer advice. He took us to see the parade at Carnival, recommended places for us to visit and generally helped ease us into this southerly corner of Dominica. The gardens are magical, full of exotic plants and trees, hummingbirds and birdlife generally (and strategically placed hammocks). We were even able to have a daily supply of freshly picked avocados. The Wai'tukubuli trail (Sections 1 and 2) are in easy walking distance from Rodneys as are the Sulphur Springs. Scotts Head is a 20 minutes walk away where you can watch the fishermen land their catch, snorkel, free dive or scuba dive round the headland or you can do this closer to home at Bubble Beach which is a 5-10 min walk away. Thank you Bevin for help making this such a memorable holiday for us.Written February 20, 2016
- Gwen C0 contributionsSoufriere one of favorite villages to hangoutThe team here is giving camping and outdoor life a whole new adventure the camp site is great. The food trees will feed your natural experience and satisfy your soul. The dining experience will also delight your palate. And the family and staff is kind, supportive and great with tours. Don't kiss them on your Nature Island Experience. Plenty of Tranquility and Sacred Bathing Here!Written February 16, 2016

- SATTravel0 contributionsOneness with nature in this tropical paradise!!Man, where do I begin? Coming from the U.S. where you'll lucky to see weeds with blooming flowers on them, my mind was completely blown when I stepped into this lush, Eden-like place. When you walk in, you're instantly struck by the vibrant colors and the density of the plants. You can tell a great amount of love and effort has been put into the place, yet is captures that feeling of unspoiled nature! My wife and I stayed in the Big banana campground (super romantic and rustic!), but guests can stay in the new luxury cottages, too--I'll have to check them out next time. The shower/washroom facilities are shared, but they're so secluded and the property is so large that you feel like you've got everything to yourself even if it's full of guests! Plus, Bevin and his team keep everything so clean! The outdoor shower is a must, with a mango tree shading you overhead! The food/drink at Kanawa restaurant and bar are amazing, the service great. Bevin knows the whole island up and down and gives amazing tours. If you want a change of pace from the usual overpriced resort, you MUST stay here and experience The Nature Island in one of the most authentic ways possible!Written November 6, 2015
- KlaraBurgess0 contributionsHome away from home in tropical paradise.Rodney is an amazing host. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. Delicious fresh food!!! You will love the garden! Excellent location as well!!!! One of the best places we have stayed in Dominica.Written July 30, 2015
- 40plustraveller0 contributionsSleep in a tent in a beautiful gardenTwo people, Bevin and his sister, run this place. It is a garden well cared for, with lots of love and effort. In this garden they rent individual tents with airbeds. Nice bar and restaurant. They offer good food in the evening at reasonable price. Free Wifi. Under 35 US-Dollar per night which I still felt is a bit high. But look how much work and love they put in the garden. You can also bring your own tent. Restroom and shower is clean. Very nice and relaxed hosts and guests, I loved the mix. This year (2015) they will build some bungalows for their guests. Take a walk down to Soufriere: All the people in the village are very nice and welcoming… constantly asking to buy them a drink or give a few dollars, can you say no?Written March 23, 2015
- Plauschbiker0 contributionswunderfuul Gartenplacereally enjoyd the stay!! came back twice to stay couple nights..as it is so nice to sleep in the garden. food is excellent and Bevin is perfect host!!Written March 13, 2015
- eferch0 contributionsrelax and enjoy!bevin and his lovely sisters who help run the place are fantastic! the one sister took me for a very lengthy tour of the grounds and gardens introducing me to all the exotic herbs and fruits. especially the cashew! the hot springs is a lovely saunter up the road and around the bend for either group or solo soaking. it is also a great spot to start the hikes of the waitukubuli natl' trail. especially segments 1 and 2. this is a campground as well as having some cabins , though is best known for it's restaurant. excellent food!!Written February 23, 2015
- DavidMarx0 contributionsNot to be missed! While off the beaten track. Rodney's wellness retreat was an unforgettable experience not to be missed. An oasis of beauty filled with exotic fruit trees, hot springs, lush green valleys and the unparalleled warmth and hospitality of Bevin who owns and operates the retreat. Bevin's calmness and attention to detail pervade the grounds and the experience of Rodney's. His care and depth of knowledge about the island will be an invaluable resource to anyone who comes by. There is a place at Rodney's for everyone from the frugal traveler to those that seek a more refined experience. For anyone contemplating coming to Dominica, no place you stay will compare.Written February 21, 2015

We totally enjoyed this tour! Bevin and Sharon were excellent tour guides. Very personable and knowledgeable. In addition to the three major attractions, they showed us many more points of interest. While Mero Beach is not one of our favorite Caribbean beaches, the waterfall was the most beautiful we experienced throughout the Caribbean. After the long day of touring, the mineral bath was so relaxing. We had a great time and would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Dominica for the first time.
