About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Explorer2999100 contributionsWow !!! Amazing !!!Can’t rave enough about this amazing cruise. The crew were just so spectacular! Michael, Peter and Sam ! The food was delicious and plentiful, appetizer style. The drinks flowed freely and were delicious. The snorkeling spots were really great and we saw some amazing fish and turtles. Everything was smooth and extremely well done. Thank you for an a first rate outing :)))Written March 24, 2025
- bhgrass0 contributionsSunset tour. Absolutely excellentWe did this tour yesterday and it was absolutely amazing. The fact they don’t allow more than 12 people makes the experience so much better. You have lots of space and it’s relaxing. The food was amazing and lots of it. Drinks were offered continuously and the rum punch was very nice. The staff are incredible - so friendly, knowledgeable and down to earth. They made the trip was it was. Special thanks to Michael and Sam. We would 100% recommend this tour and would do it again. We also saw some amazing marine animals and a beautiful sunset.Written March 24, 2025
- Gantfam0 contributionsAnother great experience with Calabaza! This company offers one of the best boat trips I've ever taken. We did the 5 hour lunch cruise last week, so we had to try the afternoon Sunset Cruise as well! Excellent food, great crew and once again, a captain with a great sense of humour. I think I preferred the Lunch Cruise but truthfully, it would be hard to choose. Unlike many of the other operators, this company only takes a small number of people, 12 at the most, so it's a very personal experience. The team try really hard to make it memorable. I can't recommend this enough. Please do one of their cruises.Written March 23, 2025
- annaleew20250 contributionsWonderful family funWe had a fabulous cruise to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Thanks Richard, James and crew for looking after us so well. The food was amazing and neverending!Written March 23, 2025
- Jayne R0 contributionsGet it booked!!Chad and the team are the absolute best. Made us laugh so much with his stories. They made sure we were safe in the water, kept the food and drinks coming all the time and generally made the whole experience something myself and my husband will remember. Thank you so much!Written March 21, 2025
- Jeff K0 contributionsExcellent sunset cruiseIt was a really wonderful experience. The snorkeling was good with lots of fish and turtles followed by a nice sail up the west coast and sunset. Plenty of drinks and more than enough food to be dinner. The entire crew was great from start to finish!Written March 19, 2025
- leslieb9030 contributionsExcellent sunset cruiseExcellent afternoon and sunset cruise with the crew of the Calabaza. Food was very tasty and plentiful as was drink😁. Plus fantastic sunset and bonus of two snorkel stops in Carlisle bay swimming with Turtles and Tarpon above the wrecks. Crew were first class and looks after us all very well. If you want a bit of luxury treatment, would recommend this trip. Thanks again guys for a great trip.Written March 14, 2025
- Sheila S0 contributionsA Perfect Afternoon! We did the sunset afternoon cruise . This excursion included, lots of beautiful appetizers, drinks, amazing snorkelling and a very accommodating terrific crew! Thank you James, Ben and our amazing chef, who's name escapes me, for making our experience perfect! We were fortunate enough to see many turles and beautifully colored fish. I have done this cruise with Calabaza 5 tines now. This exceptional afternoon just keeps me coming back, and sharing it with so many others!Written March 13, 2025

- rlknyc0 contributionsPrivate charter with friendsEleven adults took the afternoon/sunset private sail and we all had a wonderful time. The crew were attentive, engaging and fun; fabulous food and drinks served throughout the excursion, on a spotless boat. We've sailed with different companies over the years but Calabaza is our favorite and we will be back again. Thank you for an amazing day!!! Would not change a thing....keep it up!!!!Written March 10, 2025
- Hotelpro110 contributionsThere is a Reason why they are the Best in Barbados! Our experience on the Calabaza Sunset Cruise Catamaran was absolutely unforgettable. From start to finish, everything was top-notch, and it’s clear why this is one of the best excursions in Barbados. The crew was phenomenal—professional yet laid-back, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable. They created such a relaxed vibe while making sure we had everything we needed. The small group size (only 12 people!) made it feel like a private experience rather than being crammed onto one of the massive boats we saw with 40 or 50 people. That alone was a game-changer! The snorkeling was next-level. We explored three shipwrecks, each filled with schools of colorful fish swimming right up to us. And the sea turtles? Absolutely surreal. The crew jumped in the water with us, feeding bread to attract them and the fish—it was incredible watching them glide right by, totally unbothered by us being there. Then there was the food. So good. They had bruschetta, fresh fruit, meat and cheese trays, veggie crudités, mini wraps, deviled eggs—a perfect spread to snack on while cruising. And let’s talk about the bar—fully stocked with a great selection, but the rum punch was hands down the star of the show. And of course, the sunset. Absolutely stunning. The sky turned into this breathtaking mix of colors, and it was the perfect way to close out the experience. This isn’t just another boat ride—it’s an experience. If you’re looking for something intimate, fun, and beautifully done, skip the big touristy boats and book Calabaza. Worth every penny, and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. My wife and I already referring the company to others at the Hotel.Written March 9, 2025
- hayleyw740 contributionsWowThis tour is 1- 1.5 hours shorter than the lunch time tour, so you don't get that extra time in the water, but we wanted a more relaxing ride watching the sun set. Well worth it! You're almost guaranteed to see turtles, stingrays, plenty of fish inluding 8 foot tarpons! We saw puffer fish and baracudas. Unbelievable. The staff on board are so friendly, chatty and cracking jokes. We added vegan when we booked via Tripadvisor, but the message didn't go through. When emailing the hotel, then mention this again. Even though they werent prepared they made us veg crudites, bruschetta without cheese, banana bread, fruit bowls and extra veg samosas. If they were prepared then I imagine we would have been truly spoilt! Everyone else had ham and cheese boards, chicken wraps, tuna on cracker, fish bites and more.Written March 8, 2025
- DeanaM1000 contributionsWOW 🤩I had the most amazing time on this sunset cruise, the people, the catamaran, the food and drink was all fantastic. We swam/snorkelled in the beautiful Caribbean waters with turtles gracing us with their presence, the fish around the shipwrecks were beautiful, an amazing experience and wonderful memories made, worth every penny. If you are considering going on a Catamaran adventure choose the guys, they do not disappoint, its groups of no more than 12 so you get to meet new interesting people. I would definitely return if ever in Barbados again.Written March 5, 2025
- daniel b0 contributionsA great time on and in the waterThe rain cleared just in time. Friendly, attentive crew of 3. Turns out drinking and snorkeling do mix. Food was good. Nice 1/2 day trip for families w early teens to young adults. A highlight of our Barbados vacationWritten March 3, 2025
- eddiemac4360 contributionsBest Sail Excursion in BridgetownHad the greatest afternoon . I can’t say enough good things about. These gentlemen provided so much food and drinks. Did I say premium drinks and punches with gourmet food ! We snorkelled over some wrecks and saw an abundance of fish and turtles . We sailed along the coast and returned just after sunset . There were about 10 people on this cruise . One of my best memories from the trip ! I heavily recommend this excursion !Written March 2, 2025

If you’re looking for a small-group, high-quality catamaran tour in Barbados, Calabaza Sailing is the way to go. With a max of 12 guests, it felt like an intimate and relaxing day on the water—far from the crowded "booze cruise" experience.
Friendly Crew & Flawless Service
The crew was incredibly personable, kind, and knowledgeable. They made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable while keeping the mood fun and laid-back. The boat itself was immaculately maintained—clean, spacious, and well-equipped for a perfect day at sea.
Incredible Snorkeling
Snorkeling with sea turtles was an unforgettable highlight—they came so close you could (gently) touch their shells! We also spotted a massive 5-foot tarpon right below us and swam over a sunken barge teeming with fish. The crew expertly adjusted the itinerary to avoid cruise ship crowds, making the experience even better.
They provide all the gear, but if you're particular, we recommend bringing your own mask and snorkel for comfort. We personally use Cressi for a better fit and clearer visibility. We also loved using our Seaview Palawan Inflatable Snorkel Vest, which packs small, inflates easily, and gives a customized fit. No need to bring fins—the ones on the boat are fine, and we didn’t even use them with the turtles.
Delicious Food & Drinks
The food was plentiful and delicious—way beyond typical boat snacks. Breakfast included fresh fruit, banana bread, and warm quiche. There were snacks like hummus and warm fritters, followed by a full lunch spread with chicken, fish, macaroni, beans and rice, and three different salads. Dessert was a moist chocolate cake with whipped icing that was just as good as it sounds.
Drinks were also in great supply, including Deputy beer, Prosecco, rum punch, and plenty of water. Even with an open bar, the atmosphere felt more like friends making memories rather than a rowdy party boat.
Perfect Ending
Before heading back, we floated on a large, comfortable raft in the calm waters of the Atlantic, just soaking up the sunshine and sea breeze.
If you're in Barbados and want a first-class sailing and snorkeling experience, Calabaza Sailing is an absolute must. Would book again in a heartbeat!

So glad we picked this Company. Smaller amount of people on it made it feel more personal. The Captain and his staff were brilliant. Couldnt do enough for you, as soon as a drink was finished they would get you another one.! Smalls snacks served when leaving Bridgetown which were lovely. Staff very friendly. One member (sorry I cant remember your name but you.ll know who I mean!) was very knowledgeable about the Island and told us lots of things about the Island from the price of a meal to stay at Sandy Lane to the damage the hurricane did in April this year. Captain was good fun too and even decided that rather than head into what looked like bad weather we turned round to get away from it. The snorkelling stop.was good and the same member of staff looked out for you in the sea.. lovely lunch served and then we could swim or sit in a ring in the sea with our drinks! Oh the life! Really loved this trip and would highly recommend. They really look after you. Also would mention our pick up and drop off was a lovely air conditioned taxi and our driver was early picking us up as he didnt want to get stuck in morning traffic!

We booked this trip as a birthday celebration for my husband. We had considered booking a cruise as part of a much larger group. I am so glad we went for this small group cruise instead. I cannot rate it highly enough. It was outstanding - great value for money and the captain and crew were so attentive. I am not confident in the water but Mikey spent the whole time with me when we snorkelled so I could see a turtle! The lunch was great and there was lots to drink - alcohol, juice and water. If you are planning a cruise while in Barbados - choose this one!

The boat itself was beautiful, impeccably clean, providing the perfect setting for a relaxing day on the waters. The crew were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure everyone was comfortable and well taken care of.
The food was delicious— Bajan flavors that were fresh and flavorful, paired with super tasty cocktails that kept the island vibes going strong!
The snorkeling experience was unforgettable! Swimming alongside turtles and exploring the reefs was a once-in-a-lifetime moment. The crystal-clear waters and abundant marine life made it a truly magical experience.

While on a cruise stop in Barbados, we chose Calabaza 1/2 day small guests (12 guests). What a great decision! The crew was 100% attentive to our needs. Their boat was immaculate. We were provided both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages throughout the trip. Their freshly prepared meal was very good. They returned us to their marina, a short walk to our cruise ship right on time. We so enjoyed this “snorkel with the turtles” so much, we plan to sail/snorkel with them 2/24

Certainly the best day from our Caribbean cruise holiday. Managed to book this from speaking to a fellow passenger on board ship. I am so pleased we paid the extra to do this more ‘intimate’ experience than the option available from the cruise line. A short transfer from the port got us to the catamaran where we received a genuine warm welcome. I am not a confident swimmer but felt safe in a small group, my husband thoroughly enjoyed the 2 stops for snorkelling. Lunch was chicken and fish with salad/rice/cous cous options. Well recommended

Best boat trip we’ve ever been on. Calabaza staff were so attentive & friendly. Ample snacks and drinks! Snorkelling was incredible especially when we saw the turtles (they came right upto us!) & sunset views were out of this world, highly recommend the sunset trip! Only 10 of us as guests so really intimate, felt very special

5 hour sailing trip on a catamaran with breakfast, lunch, snacks and drinks on the 27th November 2024. We sailed from the south of the island, north up the west coast. The route was slightly dictated by surrounding weather, although we had plenty of sun. The crew were excellent. They were very friendly and provided plenty of information about the locations on our journey. Drinks were plentiful if that is your thing, however I would drink in moderation as you are on a relatively small boat. Our party totalled 11 so there was plenty of space to move around. There were two snorkelling opportunities to see turtles, sunken wrecks and loads of fish. One crew member was feeding the turtles and fish so we had plenty to see. It was busy at these locations as there were three cruise ships in port and many had chosen a similar activity. We had another stop further up the coast for a quieter relaxing swim or float.
Having been on many similar cruises, I would rate this as the best so far. The friendliness, service, snorkelling and relaxed atmosphere made it a very pleasant day.
Many thanks to the crew on that day.

Fantastic trip from start to finish including the collection and drop off from and to our hotel in a lovely air conditioned mini bus. Captain Ben and his crew were amazing hosts for the day and took great care of us. The boat was immaculate. The food and drink were excellent and plentiful from the moment we stepped on board. Lunch was delicious. I am really happy that there was a limit of 12 passengers so there was plenty of space on the boat and while we were snorkelling. I felt very comfortable in the water as a member of the crew was always in the water during the snorkeling stops. Life jackets and buoyancy aids are available if wanted. Plenty of time at each stop. In my opinion it was well worth paying a bit more compared to some of the other catamaran trips we saw during our stay that had many more people on board and all trying to swim at the same time.

Arriving jan 9 on celebrity beyond.does taxi pick u up at pier and return u to pier before our 4 pm departure? We are booked on the 12 passenger catamaran

I would not, this is for people to enjoy boating and swimming without risk, there are many fishing boats you can use for that. Just like I wouldn't take a fishing trip and expect to go swimming with the fish.

Curious about how difficult getting in and out of the water is. As a nearly 70 year old with not great upper body strength, I wonder if I will have difficulty?

We were a party of 6, all over 60, of differing abilities. Two stayed on the boat and enjoyed the sun, drinks and hospitality. Two had never snorkelled and a Two were experienced, all were catered for. Access, in the water is easy via a ladder. Access on the quayside can be a little tricky but nothing really to worry about.
Our overall opinion from all 6 was ‘Fantastic’

Hello! Do you accept reservations from Cruise passengers? We will be arriving on Norwegian Epic from 8:00-5:00 & would LOVE to take your tour. If you do, can you please give me the duration (time) of the excursion & where we would need to be/meet for the 9:00 am departure. Thank you so much!!

We arrived on RC Freedom so they take cruise passengers. The duration is 5 hours. When you exit Barbados cruise terminal there will be a man calling "CALABAZA" and he will check your name on the excursion manifest. You get in his van with the other excursion patrons and he will transport you to the dock where the catamaran and crew will be waiting.
