    Fun
Our tour with Debbie was very fun and informative. Debbie picks you up from your hotel and gives you a tour of various parts/towns in Barbados, including historical monuments, murals, and local “ must visit “ spots. Debbie is incredibly knowledgeable Barbadian history and culture, and answered any questions we had on tour. Debbie makes you feel comfortable and is relatable. My one feedback is that Debbie be more communicative about what is accommodated for on the tour versus which sites have an extra fee. For example, we were under the impression that the Rum Tour was accommodated, as It was listed on the list she provided of sites to choose from. That being said we ended paying extra, on top of the $125 initial price. Otherwise , the tour was absolutely amazing.

Fantastic tour of the whole island of Barbados
What a thorough and outstanding tour covering every province of Barbados! Since we had a larger family (with three kids - 18, 14, and 5) we split into two cars. What a great decision and Debra was an absolute encyclopedia of knowledge! Took us to a variety of different locations ranging from Gun Hill to Animal Flower Cave and also found a great place for lunch. Also very warm and welcoming tour guide. Spent almost six hours with her and time just flew. Now we can chill for the rest of our holiday knowing we saw some of the best Barbados has to offer from an amazing guide. Well done Debra!

Educational & Empowering Tour Centering Black histories, experiences and contributions
This was an amazing tour and Kristin was an even better guide. We had him twice for two different tours and he didn’t disappoint! It’s evident that he’s a very knowledgeable guide and has a passion for Barbados history, and future. We especially enjoyed Kristin’s and the tour’s emphasis on the Black experience. As a Black people, it was important to hear a nuanced account of the island’s Black histories and contributions. Yes, Barbados is a majority Black country, but most of our experiences glossed over Black history other than mentioning “slavery.” Kristin made us feel respected and engage with a history that put us at the center and not along the margins. It’s in the name Chattel House. This tour and experience with Kristin enjoyable and educational.

Very interesting tour and excellent guide.
A really interesting tour. More about the history of Barbados than Speightstown specifically but Kristin was really knowledgable and friendly. Good to take time to look at the buildings and their history which you might miss on your own. Nice bars and restaurants to cool down afterwards.

    Great day!
Deborah was early and waiting for us when we arrived at our meeting place. She was very welcoming and informative. We saw so many nice places and Deborah’s storytelling was entertaining! We asked for advice about things to do and were not disappointed by Deborah’s suggestions about what to see and where to eat. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience - Great value - Highly Recommended
What an amazing experience! We customized our tour to see the places that were of most interest to us. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and filled our tour with informative and interesting anecdotes. We had a great overview of the island - Bridgetown, Speightstown and Cherry Tree Hill. I would highly recommend touring with Chattel House Tours.

    Colonial history
Our guide was really knowledgeable and gave us a fascinating walking tour encompassing the key buildings of the colonial era garrison together with a full commentary on the galleries of the museum. He was good on the natural history and the original inhabitants. Really good value.

    Amazing experience
This was my first visit to Barbados, and I’m glad I chose this tour with Deborah. As a local, she can tell a lot about the island and its history, and how generations of her family lived there. I was able to see many interesting places across Barbados, learned more about the country, and, of course, enjoyed numerous magnificent views. The experience that I enjoyed the most was a little hike along the shore near Animal Flower Cave at the northern tip of the island. The weather was windy, and I saw huge ocean waves crushing into the cliffs at the coast, with water splashes reaching the ground tens of meters higher. It was incredible, and I’m thankful to Deborah for showing me the beauty of the island and sharing her experience. I recommend this tour to everyone.

Good tour of the old British garrisons in Bridgetown
I had a very informative tour of the old English garrisons in Bridgetown. A smart young man told me a bit about the history of each building and also shared insights about the history of Barbados from the Barbadian perspective. Also learned about George Washington house and headed there after this tour - and I'm glad I did.

Guide was no show. We were excited about the tour of Bridgetown, Barbados. We
arrived at the meeting spot 15 minutes early and waited over 45 mind for the guide to show. Guide never showed up. We got numerous reminders about the up coming tour but they never contacted us to cancel or rearrange the tour. Nothing.
We had limited time on Barbadoes and we’re disappointed because this tour prevented us from signing up for other things that we would like to have done.

Kindly let us know which tour you are referring too as our guides arrived for every tour booked, including one that a request for a change of date and time and no one showed up. We would like to know what went wrong to avoid a repeat. Update: We found the error and will refund you. There was a request to reschedule a tour with a guest with the same first name. We rescheduled the wrong tour. Our sincere apologies.

Fabulous experience with lovely guide Evan, who made it so interesting and at a great chilled pace answering any questions we had.
We rarely go on tours as we both suffer with hearing loss but you get wifi commentary from Evan via earphones but due to the small group we managed to hear Evan fine anyway.
A Very Informative and eye opening experience plus 2 hours was just enough in the heat of the late morning.
You are provided with a back pack which contains water snacks etc.
Great value and would recommend to all ages and walking levels but could be difficult on some of the streets if you had any mobility issues so would advise phone or email them first to check if this walking tour is going to be suitable.

Thank you for your review and recommendations to guests with mobility issues. It would be useful if we know of persons with hearing challenges before hand as we do have special earphones for such occasions. We thank you for chilling with us.😎

We took a walking tour of Bridgetown with Evan and it was amazing! He had a deep knowledge of the rich history of the city, and his stories were interesting and insightful. He took us to places that I never would’ve even known about. After doing this tour I feel more connected to the history and culture of Barbados.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Historic Bridgetown with our guide, Deborah. She is very personable and shared her significant knowledge of the history and culture of Historic Bridgetown. The audio system worked really well and the gift bag and snacks are much appreciated. We have been on similar tours around the world and will say that this was one of the better walking tours that we have experienced....highly recommended...thank you Deborah for sharing your knowledge with us 🙂

Just walking around Bridgetown it’s difficult to see how much history is there. This tour was fascinating and told us so much about its history in only 2 hours. We saw everything I expected plus so much more. Our guide was really knowledgeable telling us so much and was really helpful, I just wish I could remember his name! If your interested in history then I totally recommend this tour

This tour was incredible from start to finish. My host, Evan, was very knowledgeable and fun, he also welcomed any questions I had along the way, which was great.

Bridgetown has been heavily influenced by colonialism and this is evident in the stories of the people, the architecture, in religion and amongst other things; this experience really left no stone unturned.

For any visitor, this is definitely an essential tour. And if you can, I would recommend doing the additional optional stops, as I thought these were equally as interesting

Had my wife and I not attended this two hour walking tour led by Zach, we would have learned far less about Bridgetown and its history and have missed sites that are not visually striking, but when explained tell much more about the island than can be found in a guide book. The screwdock being a case in point.

My wife (who is much less nerdy than me) remarked how this way of being introduced to a place is usually great quality, highly informative, more intimate and great value compared with those you buy direct from a cruise operator.

We also had arrived on a Sunday when the town was a bit dead and booking this tour helped avoid it all feeling like a bit of a flop.

Good luck with your languages and tourism courses Zach!

From the minute Deborah in her pink hat licked us up at the pier until she returned us to the pier later, the tour was informative - and fun! Deborah regaled us with stories of the changes in Bridgetown over the years she has lived there and then turned us over to our guide Zachary, who inspired us with his knowledge of and passion for Barbados history. His pacing and timing made the time fly by as we explored Bridgetown and the rich history of Barbados. Zachary also gave us an appreciation for the Barbados of today - it was a very special tour. Chattel house even provided us with cold bottled water and snacks. They went out of their way to give us the best walking tour possible. Don’t miss it!
