- Johnboygtv00Brilliant food tourThe perfect food and history tour to help you navigate Bajan cuisine and see what you like . Warning. DO NOT EAT BEHIND! Were stuffed 😁 Janelle was an cyclopedia of Bajan history and food knowledge. Really helpful thank you .
- kobeb35400AmazingI really enjoyed the tour, and getting to know more about Barbados and our heritage is always fun. Plus the food was amazing, i really enjoyed our first stop which was Tims restaurant. Our tour guide Janelle was very good as well, she made the experience worth our time and money.
- 10PO00Walking Food Tour.So we met our guide Janelle after a great ride to a square in Bridge Town. Our driver was great, and was chatty. He had a nice clean van and it was cool inside. On arrival we were met by another guide she was very nice and said we were with second group. Our guide cam along just in time. So we started with a 15 minute talk on Barbados, saying about all the influences that made the island. Was informative but bit long. We set off same time as the second group so we were on the same route/ food tour so it would mean bumping into the other group and mobbing our hosts. The food was good, large amounts . I was surprised that the vendors let the guides do everything with no help. Water was provided, overall it was a good tour. Would I do it again.... Maybe
- Vonny196700DeliciousJanelle our guide was very informative & helpful, we really enjoyed this tour. The food was delicious, near the end I could not manage to eat the fish & rice as I was so full. We went to places we would never had known that were there & the Ice cream at the end was divine. This was a good ending to our tour thanks Janelle for a memorable day.
- Evija E00Food tour / dash of historyPaulette was AWESOME, tour was educational and delish! Saw thing with “local eyes” really worth it ! Highly recommended
- Skipster3100Best way to learn about Bajan food and history!Janelle was our guide. Friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. Administration was easy and smooth. All information provided ahead of the day. There is A LOT of food, so make sure you’re hungry. I don’t like to see food go to waste but couldn’t eat everything so in hindsight as a couple we should have spoken up to say we could share a portion. Not everything will be to your taste but the point is to try new things and we enjoyed that.
- Usernamenonsense00The Cuisine without queues-sceneExcellent, straight into the venues, and served some local delights with background I fo from the guide. A knowledgeable guide, great food, historical insight and context... re commended.
- lndscott7700LickRish Food Tour of BridgetownPaulette was our guide. She had arranged for us to sample traditional Bajan foods and beverage. As we walked, she gave us historical information about the city of Bridgetown as well as some of the origins of several dishes the Bajans enjoy. She talked about how the Bajans are different from Americans as far as what they enjoy about their foods. We visited a casual restaurant, a fruit and vegetable market, a street vendor of confections, another vendor of fish cakes, a small bakery and finally a chocolate and ice cream shop. It was wonderful. Didn't love all the foods but loved trying so many things.
- heathermA640SQ00Great way to spend your a day.Being able to leave the main streets and find another world which is the real world of Barbados and Bridgetown. Food was excellent and well judged in volume.Paulette was a great guide.
- adominikamm00Awesome tourJanelle was a great guide. Very friendly and informative. This is must do in Barbados. Make sure you don’t eat before as there was lots of food included.
- Sue G00Great experienceWonderful tour of the food highlights of Bridgetown & Bajan food. Jonelle gave us a thorough history lesson about Barbados & it's culinary influences. Then we set off to visit a local favourite, Tim's, for home cooking. Followed by local fruits, drinks & other food favourites. Finished with locally made coconut milk ice cream. Great tour, great experience.
- 151doreenw00Baja history and food explainedJanelle started with the history of Barbados which was enlightening, especially in cure of the country’s celebration of 1 year independence. She then walked us through local eateries, explaining the origins and current ways of cooking local ingredients. There were 7 stops and more food than could be eaten but our favourite was the last stop for ice cream!
- Chaluke00Awesome experienceLearning the history of Barbados and tasting the local cuisine. Tour guide Paulette made the experience amazing
- corneliatoddh00The best history and food walking tourLickrish covers all Bajan culinary specials within an history walking tour. Walking through the street and food markets and among historical buildings was very vibrant with lots of vendors and shoppers. Every stop offered delicious food and drink. Paulette is the best host - keeping interest with her Barbados historical, cultural and culinary knowledge coupled with all the delicious food and drinks we enjoyed. She is very friendly, engaging and fun. Coming back for this tour and recommending to others.
- Dennis D00A Great Foody Day OutA great way to meet like minded travellers whilst sampling the local delights of Barbados with a historical tour of Bridgetown thrown in. Janelle was a font of knowledge on the social history of the island and made it a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

I think this tour would be good for someone new in town or only here for a short time, but I was disappointed. I had already tried better versions of most of the foods elsewhere (notable exception of the fish cakes).
Our guide Janelle was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed the beginning talk about the influences on Bajan foods. Unfortunately, and totally not her fault, once we were on the road with background noise, masks, and a large group I really didn't hear much else. If they do it, it might be worth booking a private tour for your small group.
For me the tour was overpriced at $75 US (being mostly snacks and not even including a rum punch) and about an hour too long, primarily because of the first stop at Tim's. Which, as others have commented, took ages because Janelle had to prep and serve all the food herself. And indeed it was cold by the time we got it.
All in all, for me it was just okay and not worth the price as it is.

Not sure why good ratings on this tour. It is supposed to be a "walking" tour, but we spent most of our time standing for long periods of time while our guide talked on and on, with no place to sit down. She is a wealth of history, but too much is too much. Became more of a "history soap opera". I love the walking, but the standing for 20 minutes of time at 5-6 stops was too much. The food was "meh"...and not worth it. Only good stop for food was the first one at Waterfront Cafe doing the "pot soup". The rest of the food was not that great at all at rather tacky places.

Hello Patricia M,
We go to great lengths to ensure that all of our guests have an enjoyable experience, and it saddens us when we fall short of this.
We aim to give our guests a snapshot of the foods Barbadians love, and the places they love to eat at while in the city.
We also love to share the history of the island with our guests, and many are enthralled by this story.
We are very disappointed that you didn't enjoy the tour as much as we thought you should and hope that the remainder of your stay on the island was more enjoyable.

I thoroughly enjoyed my taste of Barbados thanks to the Lickrish Food Tour. It was a rich serving of local food and Barbadian history. I am half Barbadian, being the offspring of Barbadian parents, so from time to time my mom cooked Barbadian dishes in our Jamaican home, and I would also enjoy the cuisine when we visited Barbados. The Lickrish Food Tour reintroduced me to many of the childhood foods I enjoyed as a child and brought back wonderful nostalgic memories. I also sampled several foods that I had never tried before, and it was great to get the history behind each of the tastings.
I was really amazed at the number of tastings on the tour. I think we were all pretty full half way through the tour, but our curiosity kept us going and our tastebuds were never disappointed! I enjoyed the range and diversity of the tastings - from streetfood to semi fine dining, and a good mix of sweet and savoury. By the end of the tour, we had a good sense of many of the traditional Barbadian favourites as well as an insight into Barbadian culinary traditions and Barbadian history in general. Janelle, our tour guide was very knowledgeable and did a good job of keeping us comfortable, informed and engaged as we ate our way through the streets of Bridgetown.
If you're on a cruise ship or visiting the island for a few days, I do recommend this tour for a great taste of Barbados. I can't wait to sign up for one of their other tours on my next visit!

We got to visit and gear about Barbados' historical influences in its staple foods - from Scotland, Ireland, west Africa and the indigenous people - this was truly insightful and fascinating.
Marc fromTalia Taxis (do friendly and warm) picked me up from my hotel and dropped me off at the starting point of the tour in Bridgetown and from the very start, we learned so much about the history of the city.
We walked into the main bustling commercial hub, stopping and eating taster style meals from authentic, local, long established eateries.
My faves were the coo-coo, meat rolls, the fish cakes and organically blended sorrell drink from Lion's stall!
Janelle was very knowledgeable and always on hand to answer any questions.
The tour ended on a high at the chocolate factory, where we all had a few scoops of the delicious ice cream which was made on site.
I would highly recommend the tour to anyone who would like to know more about Barbados' history and food culture. This is a great way to dip in.

Provided great inside information on the best local spots to eat in Bridgetown that we never would have been exposed to otherwise. Definitely bring a hat, sunscreen and even a parasol on hot days as the temps combined with the asphalt can be sweltering. Recommended for those interested in Barbados culture and history beyond the beach.

This tour far exceeded my expectations as Paulette was so much more than a tour guide. The tour itself was fun, entertaining and informational, but your tour is only as good as the tour leader! Talk about energy, as a home-grown Bajan, she provided a wonderfully energetic perspective, covering so many more local topics and provided an historical narrative throughout the tour. She is a wonderful ambassador for your beautiful island of Barbados and epitomizes the very best in customer care. It was our first visit- we will be back. Thanks for sharing her.

We chose to be collected from our hotel to travel to Bridgestone for the tour.
Our tour guide Janelle was very knowledgeable and we learnt a lot about Barbadian history and the origin of much of the food.
We had some beautiful food and visited places we probably wouldn’t have considered.
The fish cakes and beef stew were my favourites.
Walking was easy and you really got a feel of Barbadian culture.
A truly great tour.
We were supplied with water and umbrellas (one or 2 torrential rain storms)
Would definitely recommend for foodies !!

My husband and I had been in Barbados for a week and this was our third day out of quarantine. We scheduled a walking food tour with Janelle to get out and about while eating some delicious food. This was a great decision! She took us to no less than 6 amazing locations, all while being very patient and answering my husband’s 100 questions along the way. We had a great time and would highly recommend this experience to anyone!

Very good tour. Janelle was a wonderful guide and was very informative. Would recommend if you are interested in learning more about Bajan culture and history, while enjoying some of the local flavors along the way.
That said, while the food was a fun experience but I would enjoyed some more drinks with the food. We were provided one bottle of water at the start of the tour and didnt get a drink with any of the food samples until the last stop.
Overall, it is a great tour if you want to spend a day in Bridgetown and experience the local way of life.

I’ve been living in Barbados for over a year now but never get the chance to really explore Bridgetown (too hot, too traffic, too much people). Good thing I found this tour and made me appreciate the town more (with a lot of historical info from my tour guide). When I arrived at the meeting place, Paulette was already there and told me that there will be just two joiners for this tour (un)luckily the other person forgot about the tour so I was left alone on the tour with Paulette, which makes it like a private tour yey! She started by sharing histories about Barbados and what the broken trident means on their flag (which I have a broken trident tattoo btw). Then we went on the food tour around Bridgetown. She brought me to this hole in the wall restaurant to start my first meal, which was a huge portion of pork with pickled cucumber and boiled cassava (the portions were huge because it was supposed to be for two persons originally). The place has great view on the second floor. We then walked around to get some legendary fish cakes (which is better served with pepper sauce). Walked again to the insides of Bridgetown to see what the local market looks like, tried some sorrel juice and ripe mango (at this time I no longer able to finish the food she’s giving me so I just put them all in a bag to enjoy when I get home). We then walked towards Crumbs bakery to try some local baked goods (i forgot the name of the one she had me try but it’s really good to be partnered with hot coffee or tea). Then went to a restaurant inside a mall to try some Corn Cou-cou and Paulette even asked the lady to put some gravy on it. The last part of the tour is, yes dessert! We went to Agape to try some ice cream and I chose rum and raisins! This is a really great tour if you want to blend in to the local market and try local food! Thank you Paulette for showing me around Bridgetown! 👍👍👍

The tour sent us location/with some directions. We took a shuttle/van from port into town and had just a couple of blocks walk. We asked driver to assist we were walking correct direction. Give yourself 20+
mins to get there.
We met group at the base of a statue downtown, by the river. I believe, not guaranteed, it was independence square. Just over the bridge in town. Many in group were going back to port afterwards, so just made the walk back together. Didn’t take long at all. We enjoyed the new friendship, and exercise!! Enjoy!

Is it possible to rent a scooter for this tour...can you get one to have there? My husband and I love to cook and are foodies and we would LOVE this tour, but he has limited walking ability? We did one in Cartagena this way and it worked out well? Any chance you could set this up?

I recall it may difficult for a scooter, busy congested downtown street crossings and several locations were up small stairs, small interior at locations as well. But I would follow other suggestion to contact them. They may have suggestions from previous visitors.
Good Luck!
