- bsingh10290 contributionsWonderful BermudaMy wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week in Bermuda. Many people have a misapprehension that Bermuda is a Caribbean island. It is not. It is a British Overseas Territory in the Atlantic, so that in February, their coldest month, daytime tem[eratures were in the lower 50s with quite a stiff wind daily, making it feel colder. Nights were distinctly chilly. Indeed, the climate is temperate rather than tropical. Bermuda is famed for its beaches, which are beautiful and quite empty at this time of year. The water is too cold for a dip, though some hardy swimmers could be spotted. My favorite was the Horse Shoe Beach, which forms quite a large semi circle, s as tts name suggests, and is ideal for walking on its compact but really fine white sand flecked with pink, or just soaking in the sun. And the food and drink of Bermuda are a delight. Bermudians make an excellent fish chowder that can be had at every restaurant. The bread made of their wheat is light and flaky. And they have some excellent restaurants. Take, for instance, the Onion and Frog in the Dockyard, easily reached by bus.Founded by a Bermudian and a Frenchman, hence the name, it, like so many other high class restaurants, is managed and staffed by Indians from Mumbai or Goa, absolute masters i the art of hospitality and who know good food and taking care of guests better than any other nation in the world. All dishes are worth trying, nothing more than Indian. And for beer lovers I would recommend their Amber Ale, brewed on the premises and a perfect accompaniment for most dishes. Or take Huckleberry's, a rather exclusive restaurant attached to a rather exclusive hotel in Hamilton, Bermuda's bustling, modern capital city. It is reminiscent of the old days of the Raj, with spotlessly white paint and colonnaded verandahs looking out on well tended gardens. I had an enormous fish sandwich which I was not able to finish, though the fish was fresh tender and delicate, and the raisin bread on which it was served a Bermudian specialty. Only the local population may drive cars, which they do expertly on the left, navigating the narrow and twisting streets with great skill. Visitors may rent scooters or other forms of vehicular conveyances. But we used the local bus service, which is excellent. You may have to wait a bit for your bus, but they run to a schedule which can be downloaded from any bus. The stops are well marked, there is a color coding with a blue post symbolizing that the bus that stops there is going towards Hamilton, the red in the opposite direction. Most stops are sheltered and have seating, and the buses themselves have comfortable, padded seats. The bus drivers are extremely careful, take excellent care of all their passengers, and ver polite. It is a pleasure to deal with them. Indeed, the greatest asset of Bermuda without question are the Bermudians themselves. I have traveled through a good bit of the world, but nowhere else have I come across such polite, well spoken, disciplined and helpful people. They know how to have a good time and can sometimes be raucous. But they are absolute angels when it comes to dealing with others and lending a helping hand. I'll give just three examples. The day we arrived, we were not quite sure whee a particular street was. We asked a passer, who, rather uncertain himself, stopped a passing car to ask for directions. The driver, instead of yelling them out and going his way, very kindly offered to drive us to our destination, and said that it was no problem at all to go a little out of the way just to help us. The next day we were going to the Arboretum, which we had been told was behind the hospital in Hamilton, and got confused at a crossroad. We asked a lady coming that way with her baby, and she said that because it was some distance away, she would drive us there since her car was parked in the hospital. She did that, and then returned to where she was parked. Such remarkable kindness! Where else i the world would you experience it? And that is not an aberration but a common courtesy that people show visitors. The same day, in the course of our wanderings, we got rather disoriented and so went up to some workmen who were helping repair a building for directions. A workman who was carrying planks of wood thought for moment, decided that the way was too complicated to explain, and so asked his boss for permission to drive us to our destination and overrode our protests in order to do just that! Indeed, it is part of the culture of the island to greet anyone you see in the street by wishing them a good morning or afternoon. When a passenger enters a bus, he wishes all other passengers the time of day, and they all reply wwth a wish in unison I have seldom wished so many people the time of day in the course of a morning as I did in Bermuda. What a remarkably wonderful custom! The language people speak is closer to American than to British English, with one significant difference. In the week we were there, I never once heard a curse word, while here in New York this is seldom the ase. I would venture to say in fact, that the world has much to learn from the simple people of Bermuda: their courtesy, their willingness to extend a helping hand, their innate grace. We have come away from Bermuda after a week, but we have left our hearts behind there. May it always three and prosper!Written February 10, 2025
- PCakes1040 contributionsGreat overview tourGreat tour. Our guide, Millet, was professional, a very safe driver and EXTREMELY knowledgeable about the island and its history. It was a treat to travel with him.Written February 1, 2025
- NS6660 contributionsA good tour, just needed a little longer ideally.A very friendly and knowledgable guide, who showed us the top sights around the island. The one regret was that the three key stops, at the Gibbs Lighthouse, in Hamilton & especially St Georges, were quite short. Another 15 minutes at the lighthouse, and another 20-30 mins at the other would have been welcome. All too rushed as it was.Written December 19, 2024

- MN2CA0 contributionsGood overview of the island of BermudaHaving never been to Bermuda, I booked this tour as a shore excursion from a cruise ship. The guide was timely and picked us up at the location noted on the email. The tour was a great example of the island and the many things to do. We stopped at the lighthouse for a short time, and a pink sand beach. We spent about 1 hour in St George. And 40 minutes in Hamilton. I would’ve done the reverse and spent more time in Hamilton. There seemed to be more to do there and there wasn’t much in St George. Overall, it was a good tour and the guide was very knowledgeable. I would’ve done recommend them for a good overview of the island.Written December 8, 2024
- flahaga0 contributionsBest Shore ExcursionOne of the best shore excursions I've ever taken, with a great mix of seeing the sights, photo ops, shopping time and an hour for lunch. Our guide Justin, was a wealth of knowledge and did a terrific job. Highly recommend!Written December 8, 2024
- 621SamG6210 contributionsA Great Overview of the IslandIt was very easy to find the meeting point as we exited the port. The van was ready for us. We went all over the island. - N2793NBmichellel0 contributionsA perfect day in Bermuda - Best Tour EverThis was a perfect way to spend a day in Bermuda. It was our only day and we experienced the best of Bermuda with Justin our really really great knowledgeable guide. He had tons of interesting info to share pretty much the entire time we were together in the very nice van. There were restroom breaks, ample time to explore several stops, and time for lunch. We were visiting via a cruise ship ... Justin picked us up at the pier and got us all back on time as expected. I highly recommend!Written December 3, 2024

We took this tour on the first port day and felt it was a great way to get a little taste of Bermuda and to help us decide/confirm where we wanted to go to and explore more in depth. Justin was easy to understand and listen to. He has a wealth of knowledge and clearly loves his homeland. We highly recommend this tour & Justin!Written November 21, 2024
- Flying_Matt3200 contributionsGreat Island TourCommunication from Bermudaful before the tour was great. We brought a car seat with us so there was a little more planning involved but all worked out well. Our mini bus left with just 10 people and our guide was fantastic. He spent the entire drive talking, telling us all sorts of facts about the beautiful island. We stopped numerous times for photo ops and a few longer stops - St Georges/Hamilton - just like what was listed in their online description. It was a great way to see as much of the island as you can in a day.Written November 11, 2024

Tim stopped at many interesting locations that only locals would know of. He took the time to answer all of our questions and explain the way of life on the island. Tim had extensive knowledge of Bermuda including all historical sites. I plan to take another tour with him when I cruise to Bermuda next year. I highly recommend.Written November 11, 2024

Our cruise ship arrived at the Royal Naval Dockyard in Bermuda at 2:00 pm, so we chose the half-day tour (3 hours). The price and communication from Bermudaful were excellent, and our meeting point was just steps away from the dock! There were 8 people in our group of friends, and we were assigned to an air-conditioned bus that carried about 22 people, but there were only 16 people on our tour. Our fantastic tour guide was Justin. He drove while speaking into a microphone, with speakers built into the bus (very easy to hear). Justin’s knowledge of the island was amazing. He answered all our questions and told us things we didn’t even think to ask. Hurricane Ernesto had impacted Bermuda just 3 days before our arrival, but the limbs had been picked up, and power and water had been restored! We stopped frequently, with ample time for photos, restroom breaks, gift shops, and sight-seeking. Justin took us to the world’s smallest operational drawbridge and demonstrated how it worked. He provided bread to feed to ducks and fish. He gave us time to climb the lighthouse, walk on pink sand beaches, visit a green sea turtle rescue tank, a tidal lagoon where we were given ample time to watch a spotted eagle ray, barracuda, jellyfish, and birds. We also stopped at a magical nature park with unique growth from ficus/banyan trees. We were driven to Hamilton and learned about the businesses in that area. We highly recommend this tour and are so pleased we were assigned to Justin’s group.

Our tour bus driver was very knowledgeable about the island and he was also very personable and funny. Maybe everyone does this, but he stopped at the smallest drawbridge on the way back to our dock and gave everyone a piece of bread to feed the fishes. After he dropped everyone else off, he dropped me and my friend off at the Tower Shops so we could buy a tee shirts before our cruise ship left. The only bad thing was that the tour had to be shortened so we only got a half day trip instead of a whole day trip and we never made it to St. George.

This was an excellent tour led by Tim. He made sure we were able to see the most of Bermuda in a limited time period on our last day in port. He also went above and beyond by accommodating my elderly father-in-law throughout the tour. I highly recommend this company and tour guide.

We really enjoyed the Half Day Bermudaful Tour. It was just the right length for us. We loved the visit to Gibbs Hill Lighthouse (pay the $2 to climb to the top for the view). The scenery at St. John's Bay was amazing. We even got to feed the fish at South Island Park. We also enjoyed Glass Beach. The tour was great and the guide was very friendly and knowledgable. I would highly recommend it.

We took the 3 hour tour with Mr. Jonathan Hayes, owner. We were looking for a 3-5 hour island tour and he graciously allowed us to join a tour he had already scheduled as there were only 2 of us. The tour gave us a wonderful overview of Bermuda. Mr. Hayes is a Bermuda native and was very informative regarding island history, geographic info, and general knowledge of the island. We are grateful for the experience and thoroughly enjoyed the tour.

I took this Island tour after arriving on a cruise for a day. We easily found Jonathan our tour guide who was very welcoming and patient with answering all our questions. We toured the highlights of the Island and he even gave us a small vial to collect pink sand at one of our beach stops. There were plenty of bathroom stops. I highly recommend taking a tour with Bermudaful Island Tours.

Ok so my teens didn't absolutely love it, but I just won't take them next time, lol. They did really enjoy feeding the ducks at the drawbridge and seeing the lighthouse. My husband and I love the history and loved the tour!
