About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- rene8580 contributionsThe best sunset experienceAfter reading the reviews, we decided to go with Octopus Aruba, and we couldn’t be happier with our choice. The service and the lounge seats were the deciding factors for us. Upon arrival at their beach hut for check-in, we were warmly welcomed by Joselito, who even entertained us with card tricks while we waited. We’ve done many other tours throughout the Caribbean, but what stood out with Octopus Aruba was how well-organized everything was, and everything ran perfectly on time. Once we boarded the catamaran, we were greeted with a welcome drink. They have fantastic lounge seats onboard, which made the experience so much more comfortable. The catamaran can accommodate up to 45 people, but they limit the number of guests to just 34, ensuring everyone has plenty of space. All the seats have an ocean view, so you're never stuck looking at other guests, unlike many other boats. Every 10 to 15 minutes, they came around with delicious snacks, and the drinks were served directly to you. The service was truly exceptional, and the crew shared a lot of interesting information about the island. We’ll definitely be back!Written October 13, 2024

- palinat20200 contributionsThe best!!!Absolutely beautiful views! As we were getting on the boat, the crew immediately was handing us a drink, and constantly were refilling as soon as we ran out. The appetizers were delicious as well! Everyone was able to have a place to sit down if you would like, but also you can stand if you wanted to. There was just the right amount of people on there to where it didn’t feel like we were packed on there like sardines; plenty of room to move around. The crew was great and will definitely be going again the next time we are in Aruba! Highly recommend booking!Written September 27, 2024

- brianr123450 contributionsMeeting Jose was the best part of Octopus -- the boat and sailing was unsatisfactoryMeeting and speaking with Jose was the best part of this excursion by far. Jose is friendly and talented. After getting off the catamaran, Jose engaged people and had a crowd of people around him while he was showing his card tricks. Jose was captivating and people were amazed. A bunch of people in my crowd spoke very highly of Jose and mentioned that they thoroughly enjoyed what he was doing. It was after we got off the boat and we could have easily vent on with our day and vacation. It was the best part of this excursion by far As for the actual sailing -- I have been on many catamarans and we specifically choose this company and sailing because it advertised comfort (i.e. limiting amount of passengers on board, etc.). I forget the number of passengers that were advertised (I think it was 35), but our sailing had many more people than what was advertised (I counted so it would be fact instead of perception). We specifically choose this company because we were interested in comfort and space and it was the opposite. Because they allowed more passengers on this ship it was largely uncomfortable and difficult to move around. That coupled with the fact that it was difficult to jump off the boat because the water wasn't calm. I am in relatively good shape (I go to the gym every day and do cardio and weight training) and it was difficult for me to swim in the water with the current of the water and also hard to pull myself back up on the boat on the ladder. I have been on many catamarans in the Caribbean and other than meeting Jose, this didn't measure up to any of them. If the company actually followed through on their advertisement then it might be a different story and different review, but they didn't. Next time I go to Aruba we will try a different company. I was going to approach the company after and give them direct feedback about this but spending time with Jose was a much better use of time on vacation then dealing with a company that doesn't falsely advertised and doesn't keep their word. If I spoke with them I still wouldn't get the time precious vacation time back anyway. I would spend money just to talk and watch Jose -- that was way more fun than the actual sailing. If you don't mind being packed into the small catamaran like a sardine (and this was the smallest catamaran I have been on by far too -- probably half the size of the others I have been on) then this might be for you. But the general consensus of my group (10 of us) that this didn't come close to the other catamarans we have done beforeWritten September 10, 2024

Octopus Donut Boats are GARBAGE, and the company itself has ZERO integrity.
Had a 10 person donut boat reserved for a special experience to celebrate a friend’s 40th. But 3 days before our rental the company emailed saying they had to push back our 11am start time to 12pm due to “equipment difficulties “.
Interesting choice of words 3 days before our rental. I didn’t realize itvwas possible to predict “equipment difficulties “ with such accuracy, as you will soon hear.
So the day of our rental we checked in at 1140am for the now 12pm departure for our 3 hr experience. Unfortunately our Donut Boat didn’t arrive until 1230pm because according to Tony (the Octopus employee in charge of the donut boat), he said he was out late the night before and running late for work.
Then, while providing on-board instructions on the rules of the waters and how to use the boat, the motor died. As a result we started drifting further and further out past the outer marker buoys they didn’t want us to go past.
A small dingy arrived with another Octopus employee, but after 15 more minutes of them NOT being able to keep the motor running and it now being almost 1pm, I asked to be towed back to shore so we could get off the boat and get refuned our money.
Upon reaching the beach the Octopus employees said they’d already called their home office and told them abouty Donut Boats “equipment difficulties” and I would be getting a full refund.
Next I was asked to call their office, which I did. Then asked to email a description of my experience to them and I would be immediately refunded. So i sent the email.
It’s now been 3 days since Octopus failed to provide me with a refund, they’ve stopped responding to my emails altogether, and when someone at their office answers the phone all they tell me is they need management approval from RICARDO to give me my refund. But as of now, some 84 hrs after their boat broke, I haven’t received ant refins whatsoever.
So I very strongly suggest you avoid Octopus altogether and use one of the many other more reputable companies for water activities in Aruba.

Do not waste your time/money on this. We did it cause it sounded awesome and we hadn’t tried this experience in our many years here. They were 30 mins late picking us up, with no way to contact them to see what was going on. The “speed boat” that picks you up is a dinky little thing that I could out-swim. The donut was lopsided so half the group got soaking wet, you couldn’t drink or eat because it’s anchored in the area that speed boats go through so everything spills as constant boats pass by, sometimes as close as 20 feet away from you. We had ordered food for 2 people who have celiac’s disease, which they confirmed ahead of time they could accommodate, and it came out wrong so they couldn’t eat. It said we would have a speaker, which we didn’t. And we also weren’t given a bottle opener so we couldn’t drink anything we bought 😂. We also weren’t given the waters we ordered, and some of our beer was missing from the cooler. The man told us we could swim while we waited, but that was not advertised, or ever told to us, so we didn’t have swim wear. We told the man who took us out about the missing speaker and bottle opener and he said he’d be back in 15 mins tops. He came back an hour later. We just asked to get taken back to shore because it was so miserable. Save your money and eat on a sunset boat, or at a beach front restaurant. See photos for the alcohol we couldn’t open (I could open the champagne but was trying to wait for literally everyone else to be able to have their drinks. You could see scuff marks on the table from people having to open their beers by hitting them against it. We decided not to do that.) In the second photo you can see how the donut is tilted. On the side opposite the stairs it is also open, so any time waves were created water just got all over the place.

What. A. Day! Despite a few bumps getting started on our donut (mechanical issues, it happens!), we never feared, Jose was a pro. He seamlessly took us on an amazing tour of the Arubian waters. How did he hold his breath that long to dive below the depths of the sunken ship, find us beautiful giant turtles to play with and keep us laughing? That's his magic. Do not hesitate, this is the greatest thing you'll do in paradise!

José was amazing and treated us with tremendous care and respect. He arrived at our beach on time though at the other side of the beach. My husband ran down there to request he come to the other side of the beach to pick us up. Which he did without a problem.
José pulled to the edge of the sand so we barely got wet climbing in and he took us to where our donut island boat was just about five minutes down the shore. He trained my 15-year-old son how to operate the motor, drop the anchor and lower the ladder within 5 minutes. Just to make sure I knew we had it right I had my son start from an idle motor to get to fully charged steering and forward to give me the warm fuzzies that he had it under control….
So our guide Jose was amazing and he offered to take us to a great snorkel spot where some ship ruins were so we followed him in our donut island boat while he let us along in his
Motorboat… he guided us to some really cool ruins of a sunken ship and he camped out nearby until we got our fill in doing some exploration … it was fantastic. We got back on the boat, pulled up anchor and let him know we’re ready to move on. He followed us to our next destination and then eventually guided us back to the dock after our two hours were up. It was a fantastic journey and my son felt on top of the world navigating this little motorboat by himself. We would definitely do it again.

Our family had a blast and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip! We got to motor around at our leisure stopping to snorkel and jump off I the ocean. Kids ranged from 6-17 and everything was perfect. Jose (our magical guide) did a great job checking up on us throughout our 5 hour trip, and man it flew by! He told us right where to go to make the sights more memorable and we even saw a sea turtle!
Go, have fun on one happy island!

Aruba is a beautiful island with lots of fun things to do. That's why we're really honored to hear that your trip with us was one of the highlights of your vacation. I will pass on your compliments to Jose. Seeing a sea turtle sure is a memorable moment. Not everybody is lucky enough to spot one when they visit Aruba, so luck is on your side! We would love to welcome you once more if you plan to visit Aruba again!

This was a fun and relaxing 2 hour adventure. We had fun driving the boat up and down Palm Beach for the first half hour (and yes we did do “donuts”). We then dropped anchor and snorkeled and relaxed for about an hour, moving the boat occasionally to check out new areas to snorkel. I am a fairly experienced sailor, so the boating aspect was easy, but even if you are not that experienced, it should be pretty simple. The boat was in good shape with a reliable motor (started first pull every time). In addition, our escorts Edson and Jose were very attentive but not intrusive. They had their own safety boat that they kept at a distance for privacy but would come by to check on us occasionally. They were very professional and polite in their interactions. All around a pleasant, relaxing, island-paced experience - the donut boat is not a speed boat, it’s more a leisure craft for chilling out.

Thank you for your review and the compliments to the crew.
It's great that you enjoyed the Aquadonut as it was meant to be, it is a great way to enjoy the Caribbean Sea. And to read in your review you did that. Everything is possible with or without a captain, you can bring your own drink or we make sure you can enjoy it the way you want.
We will make sure to pass on your compliments to Jose and Edson.
We are looking forward to welcoming you again in the near future!

Trip advisor and octopus boats not in sync. Octopus canceled our reservation the day before. Trip advisor continued to send out reservation confirmations the same day. We didn’t know it was canceled until we showed up. Their response was “ we emailed and txt you yesterday and this morning respectively.
I did not get either of those messages because of no internet service when outside US…. So beware! Octopus made little effort for an alternative. They offered a private boat for $200/hr. Nothing else. I asked to talk to manager and the hut attendant called and gave me the phone. I was told they had one boat for 4 people and the motor broke. She didn’t try to offer anything else they sell… I asked for my money back and ended up booking a catamaran with dolphin catamarans in the hut next to octopus in Aruba. So glad we did. It was an awesome experience. $120 for 4 people for 3 hours of sail, snorkel, light food, and open bar. Don’t waste your money on octopus donut boats. Terrible communication between them, trip advisor, and the customer!

The aqua donut experience was great; our guide Jose shared great stories, did a cool magic trick, and also let our kids steer the boats. He showed us this really cool spot for the kids to snorkel into a small cave, and even jump off a 10' cliff. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Very unique way to spend part of your day. Morning water is certainly less choppy but we opted for sunset which was still great(would not be if you get seasick easily). Our tour guide Jose was very knowledgeable on controls of boat and set us loose. Checking in periodically.

Do you have snorkeling equipment for children 6 (small child) and 8 (larger child). Also will the guide show us where to go and help guide us to spots for snorkeling? We are interested in Friday family of 4 for 2-3 hours. Do you come to Divi all inclusive for pickup and is pickup by car or boat?

They have lots equipments for everyone.
Also they will guide you to the spots where you can go snorkeling in sea. I don't think they will pick you at your hotel. You have to go by yourself to Moomba beach. But you can contact them and ask for yourself. I had an amazing trip with my daughter and her boyfriend by sunset.
