I was a bit dubious about this trip, it is a bit more commerical and touristy than I would usually choose to do, but it seemed like a new experience.
I was all well organised including the usual cringeworthy photo session where I cannot belive anyone actually buys the photo afterwards !!
You start off on a little boat that then takes you to the sub, you effectively you get 2 different trips.
Everything was done in a very safety conscious way with regard to embarking and disembarking and moving onto and off the sub. The sub itself is smaller than I thought, and although I am quite tall, I am not a large person, but quite a lot of the other people were "bigger people" and because of that I felt very squished into my seat. this is probably obvious but if you don't like enclosed spaces, you will not like this.
There is a reasonable amount to see in the time that youre down there, but if youre madly into marine wildlife, I wouldnt get your hopes up for anything too exciting.
All in all a nice couple of hours and I can say I have been on a submarine now.

Our crew was amazing. Donald was the guide and he was not only knowledgeable but funny! My only complaint is that they squeeze way too many people on. Some passengers were quite overweight and that made the rest of us very uncomfortable. They should not stuff the sub that tight!

I booked this activity for my father, who at age 79 is adventurous, but he usually travels with me and I take care of all of the logistics. So I was slightly worried about a number of factors arranging this for him remotely. I was worried that he would have difficulty finding the departure area. I was worried that he would not be able to make the transfer from the boat to the submarine or have difficulty with the stairs. And I was worried that this would turn out to be an expensive tour that was not as spectacular as it looks online.
He LOVED it! He has called home 4 times to say how much he loved it! The taxi dropped him off right at the departure location and he did not get lost (that is half the battle with him!) He had no problem using his ticket on his phone. He was slightly unnerved about the transfer from the boat to the submarine but he had no problems, and although the stairs were steep he was able to use them easily.
The under water trip blew his mind! He loved the shipwrecks, he saw sea turtles and all sorts of cool fish, and he said the guide was super informative without being annoying (He is not a fan of our guide sometimes.) He saw everything he would never get to see because he just would never snorkel or scuba dive. He is so thrilled that I booked this for him!
If you are a person who worries that logistics might be difficult, this was a breeze. And the cost of the trip was a bargain considering the length of the tour (90 minutes) and what he got to experience!!!!
I can, with great confidence, recommend this tour!

I enjoyed the submarine adventure. The captain Alton did a wonderful job making sure we saw all the shipwrecks and under water life. One of the best part of the excursion was Arnaldo and the funny commentary he kept going. He also provided some great history on what we were seeing. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone wanting to go under the sea without having to scuba dive.

Really glad we did this. I hadn’t read reviews and was thinking it might be a faux submarine experience (kind of like a glass bottomed boat). This was a very real submarine and we got down to around 140’ deep. The tour was only half booked, so everyone was able to sit on one side of the sub. The advantage of that is the driver was able to ensure everyone got to see the same thing along one side of the reef. At the halfway point we were able to walk around to the other side and see views of the reef on our way back as well. Saw lots of fish and our pilot was even able to find us a turtle which was a treat!
Frances was our host and he did a great job of making the kids laugh while sharing a lot of great information about the waters around Aruba. I would highly recommend this tour.

We arrived and they had booked us accidentally for the wrong time, no apology just a shrug. We ended up taking 2 spare places and the 3rd person in our party was not able to come and had to get a refund. The person who booked us simply said she must have accidentally booked us for an earlier trip but wasn’t at all bothered.
It takes almost an hour to get out to the sub and get us all on so you only really get about 40 minutes on the sub for $109. It’s very hot and crowded and the other side to us could see the reef but we couldn’t. The guide said we would see it on the way back but we didn’t as they never properly turned round. We did see a wreck which was good but otherwise few fish and mostly just murky nothingness.
This trip is expensive and absolutely not worth the money.

This is an activity that should be advertised as great for small children, not adults.
There’s nothing to see here, except for a few small fish that hang around on a reef. There are 2 “shipwrecks”, which were artificially planted there by the company running the submarine.
The advertisement pictures show the inside of the submarine as spacious and with room to move around. You’re actually pigeonholed into a hard plastic scoop seat with 39 other people all around you stuck in their plastic seat and made to listen to corny jokes about SpongeBob and Krusty Krab for 1/2 hour. The other 1/2 hour is spent on a ferry shuffling you back and forth with an equally nauseating employee lecturing you about marriage and life (he’s a part-time preacher)!
Save your money for a steak dinner!

The submarine ride was an amazing adventure. This was the first time on this kind of vessel and it was better than I expected.
The captain of the sun was extremely competent and the narrator was unbelievably funny and entertaining.
I would HIGHLY recommend this trip to everyone that visits Aruba.
We are considering visiting other location around the world that offer this same excursion so we can check off each sun number.
We started with 6 and there are 14 in the fleet worldwide.

- It should be explained better how long it would take by surface vessel to/from the submarine entry point. The elapsed time for the excusrion was much longer than the stated 2hrs.
- When making the booking at the published price of $ 105 per person, additional and wholly unexplained service fees were added at some $ 11 per person. That's quite unacceptable.

This time, I did the submarine, but I've done a handful of activities with Depalm (including Seatrek at Depalm Island) and they've all been top notch. Depalm is my go-to for any organized activities in Aruba.
The submarine crew balanced light-hearted fun, information, and safety quite deftly. I'd definitely recommend for anyone interested in seeing the bottom of the ocean (who isn't?!) without scuba diving.

You will not get wet and do not need to know how to swim to book this excursion! A boat takes you out to the submarine and you’ll be inside the vessel prior to the submarine submerging, so you’ll remain dry and safe all along.

I would ask your doctor if the tour is right for you. You will be doing down approx. 140 ft below surface.
How are they keeping everyone safe during Covid? The seats are very close together. Even if we wear masks, social distancing is impossible unless they leave every other seat empty. Do they fill every seat?
