We have been in Alaska for two weeks and I’m pretty sure this was the absolute favorite of the three older teen boys on our trip. My 13 year old niece loved this trip as well as the adults. Haley was awesome in teaching the boys to ride their ATVs and then leading the tour on a bumpy, wet and exciting ride through the area next to the park. Brice was also super fun and knowledgeable about the area and had the boys smashing rocks looking for gold. They make several stops allowing riders to get off and take pictures and learn about the area. The whole family wanted to do it again today but alas, there was no time. Definitely a must do. They have the best rides available in the area.

This was an optional tour offered by our tour company. It was simply the best! From start to finish, some of the most fun ever. First, we were picked up at our hotel by a super personable driver who was happy to share facts and spin stories about AK as we went to the site in Healy. Then we were briefed, geared up and given a brief safety ride (very brief, very easy), and then we were off on a net work of trails climbing into the beautiful mountains just outside Denali National Park. Our guides/escorts were safety conscious but determined to let us enjoying this bumpy, muddy adventure. There were three stops along the way for photos, info/stories/legends. Two at higher elevations and one in a riverbed. It was a great, fun way to see a bit of Alaska and feel a little bit like a daredevil for a couple of hours. FYI, my travel buddy and I are both senior women, so don’t let age or gender deter you. Fun, fun, fun.

We did the 27 May 1 PM adventure. Exciting time led by a professional guide backed by a friendly staff. Good safety briefing and informative talks during interesting stops along the way. The Side by Side ATVs option made for a comfortable fun time for couples and the 4 seat version was great for the young couple with children. Even the local long time resident gentleman driving the shuttle bus to/from the ATV location made that part of the overall experience interesting with his local knowledge.

We started late. We were there for over 45 min waiting to start because someone had missed their pick up. They basically had us actually driving for about 40min total We made 3 stops. The stops at the two upper viewpoints had “talks” about the area that took way too long. After that we stopped at the river. That was beautiful and fun. They kept that stop super short and rushed us back to the start. It was 7:15 when we got back. We hadn’t even left before 5:45! This was not a 2.5 hr experience! At the end our guides told us to stay on the atvs until they told us so we could get off for safety in the parking lot. As we parked they saw their next group was there and they bailed off and started the safety talk for the next group. We finally realized our tour was over without even a goodbye. I tried the ask a question and planned to tip the guide, but he blew me off and said “Sorry. I’m giving you short answers because the next group of here.” I asked about the length of tour and he completely blew me off again and said he didn’t know how long the tour was even supposed to be. This could have been good but was poorly executed. Sad I spent this much money on it and it wasn’t as advertised.

We had an amazing ATV tour. Driving over the river was our favorite part of the whole experience. Only note would be to make sure to bring some kind of face cover for all the dust.

Oh and try to get Megan or Abby as one of your guides! They were both absolutely fantastic and did a great job at telling us about the surrounding area with some funny lines mixed in.

What fun we had with Colton and Jeremiah! They expertly guided us through the terrain, which so happens to be the backdrop for “Into the Wild”.

We rode through the beautiful forest and through a very fun, small stream that produced squeals of delight. There are three scenic stops - two at high vantage points of the surrounding ranges and valleys and one in a lowland.

The ride is fun and the machines are comfy. Those with bad backs may benefit from calling the outfitter to see if the ride is a fit as it is rough terrain (what makes the ride so fun!) and may not be good for those with bad backs.

The outfitter is well run, organized, and staffed by highly likable people.

Have fun with them!

We went on a rainy cold day and still had the best time!!! The guides are amazing and tell you alot about the area. They spend time with each person so everyone feels included. Alaskan or tourist- highly recommend you take the tour and see the back woods, ride across a small river, and meet new friends.

Do NOT book this if you want to go 4 wheeling and be adventurous . This was a total rip off for the money . We went literally 8mph in a slow line . Constantly stopping and breaking . Then they stop twice and talk and waste your time and don’t get much on the trail . So many people - like 15 vehicles in a row with some people super inexperienced slow people and held it up. We paid a lot of money for something my golf cart at home could do and much faster. This is not adventurous at all. I told them my concerns and they said it would pick up - never trying to solve the problem or make it better. Do NOT go here - super disappointed. In fact worse thing we did all in Alaska for our money .

If you are looking for adventure, this is not the trip for you. They have way too many people per tour and you are required to stay in line like ducks. There is no off terrain, no getting out of line, no fishtails, no extras at all. My husband literally went out of line about 5 feet to ride over a bump and they stopped the your and threatened to kick him out. It was super boring actually.
In addition, They did not pick us up from the hotel as confirmed the previous day and did not have the right ATVs for us that we had scheduled.

We had a private 2.5 hr ATV tour with Stephan Medcalf. This was our first ATV adventure. Our 18 year old daughter and 20 year old son rode solo and Mom and Dad were in a two person ATV. The ride covered over 15 miles of trails and we saw some amazing views of the Denali area. Stephan told plenty of cool stories and brought a lot of local knowledge. His “Into the Wild” stories really brought that event to life. We dealt with a lot of rain, but somehow that made it even more fun as there were plenty of puddles and creeks to get the most out of the ATV time. Stephan was an awesome guide and made the tour even more memorable. Next time you are in Denali, be sure to make time for one of these tours!! If you can, go the private tour route to avoid the crowds!
