    Shibuya Night Tour with Grey
Amazing tour and guide (Grey) that showed us/told us so many things within a 2 hour tour we would have never been able to experience ourselves. Very happy we took this tour. Amazing area and sights..

    Amazing Tour/Guide
Our family of 5 loved this tour. Loc, the tour guide spoke excellent English and took us through so many interesting things withing the Shinjuku Kabuckicho area. He answered all of our questions regarding the areas and Japanese culture. We go through the red light district so could be PG-13. We loved the tour/highly recommended.

The tour for your Emperial Palace experience with Kento
We loved this tour and it was because we've had an excellent guide Kento. He was very knowledgeable about the history, he went into enough details to keep us engaged. I loved his jokes and also comparison on Japan now and 400 years ago. One recommendation only - I would probably be happy if we did the same tour for an hour and half. Well done Kento, we have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Edo and Empiral Palace history with you. Maja & Rich

    Wonderful tour with Daniel!
Wr did the morning tour, we spent an hour in Sesno-ji temple and an hour walking around the neighbourhood around it. It was a great tour, our guide Daniel was really great! He had an excellent way of explaining things in a very clear way, he was funny and entertaining, even though it rained the whole morning it was wonderful!! I'd definitely recommend this tour!

Great tour of Imperial Palace East Gardens.
Our tour with Miyu was great. She has moved to Tokyo a while ago and knows the Imperial Palace very well, having spent a lot of time there, she knew where all the flowers are, and the history of the place and the history of the empire is also fascinating. Great tour.

If you book any tour while you are in Japan book this tour.
Kumi was an amazing guide! Highly knowledgeable and outgoing. Easily the best part of our entire trip to Japan was Kumi’s tour.

If information is what you want, you will get it
Our guide, Loc, was very willing to answer all and every question we had, and he was detailed and clear. He also didn't rush but also didn't take the time schedule casually. Also, note to future customers: the tour description has a clear emphasis on the LGBTQ part of Shinjuku, so expect 15 minutes out of the 2 hours spent on that subject

Spontaneous booking resulted in a great evening
Highly recommend this tour. Booked it just one and a half hours before it started. The booking process was quick and uncomplicated. Our guide Dani did an excellent job. Learned some interesting things about Shinjuku's night life and got some great recommendations on shopping, anime, food, and bars.

With all free walking tours, it comes down to the guides to determine quality, but after two different disappointing tours with Tokyo Localized, I would recommend looking at other alternatives. The tours I did were the Shinjuku Night Tour with Hiroshi and the Free Walking Tour in Akihabara and Euno with Reiko. In both cases, I found that both guides weren’t very fluent in English and neither had a deep enough level of historical expertise to provide meaningful insight and answers to questions beyond their typical tour script. As someone who’s done dozens of Free Walking Tours around the world, I typically find that they come with great guides who are real subject matter experts, who engage with the tour group and (most importantly) who have a level of English literacy that makes it easy for native English speakers to understand and who speak loud enough for the group to hear. These tours had none of that. And, to make matters worse, Hiroshi, like many Japanese people, was very soft spoken with a group of 30 - 40 people. While most guides would have a portable headset / speaker, he did not so in many cases I simply couldn’t hear him. Beyond that, when asked questions on most tours, the guides frequently didn’t have answers or enough historical expertise to provide true insight to the group.

Furthermore, on the tour with Hiroshi, he suggested that the average suggested contribution for a 2 hour walking tour was the equivalent of $50 USD. I guess Japan is more expensive than, for example, Latin America where I’ve given $10 USD for a Free Walking Tour and felt generous, but at the end of this tour, I almost wanted to give $0 for the level of quality (don’t worry, I didn’t!! But I still felt ripped off.)

I’d recommend skipping this company and looking for one of the dozens of other tour options while in Tokyo.

Thank you for your review. Sorry that our guide is not fluent than you and didn't have enough knowledge about the historical insight than you. It is a free tour, and you decide the tip. Everyone knows about the rule. Sorry to make you disappointed and waste your time, joining two tours. (I don't know why you joined two of our tours) Next time, please pay $$$$$ in advance and I will give a tour with a great headset. Have a nice day.

I am glad we took the free walking tour. We did the Ueno, Ameyo Market , Akihabara walking tour and was very well looked after by our local tour host. They have very good knowledge of the local attractions and will take you to areas that you would not normally have gone yourself. Love the stories and the experience to visit Tokyo with a local, and would highly recommend any newbie to Tokyo to sign up for these walking tours.
PS: If they do a good job , please give them a tip , even though its a free tour.

Miyu was a very nice guide and did have good information however the tour content was disappointing. We were expecting a whole area of old style Japanese houses, instead we saw about 5 scattered among modern Japanese homes. We did like the stops at the Buddhist and Shinto temples but a 30 minute stop at a modern cafe is not what we wanted. I would not recommend this tour.

We were in Tokyo for just a 12 hour layover so decided to take the free walking tour. The guide was so enthusiastic and happy, it was contagious. She explained all the ritual at the shrine and even walked us through getting our fortune, washing our hands and how to make a wish at the Shinto shrine. So it wasn't all listening, but doing, as well. Enjoyed the trip into the neighborhood, too to hear about drinking and eating.

We set off with Hirosh in the sprinkling rain on a cold Jan morning. Hirosh was passionate, funny and obviously loves his country. Great English and even better sense of humour!! The weather turned awful and we were all diving into the closest shops to buy umbrellas! Was very interesting to hear so many facts about what made Tokyo into the fascinating metropolis it is today. Great activity to do on our first day here. Highly recommend.

It was good to visit an older part of Tokyo, and our guide was knowledgeable and very informative. Pace was quite slow and we didn't walk as far as I expected in the 3.5hrs. One thing that was not great it is advertised as no more than 7 people per tour but we had 12. To be honest I think it was a bit expensive for what we did.

Our guide, Reiko came on time. Small group of 7 pax. Reiko speak good English, very cheerful and clear in explaination. Originally we were abit hesitating in 2hours walking non stop, yet the tour is very relaxing. Small walk without feeling tired which the kind and nice weather took part as well.... Of course with our beautiful guide. A great information of sensoji temple obtained. Booking was easy too, no 14 days requirements etc. Their website is very clear in tour itinerary and meeting point. Too bad we have limited time in Tokyo or else will join more. See you next time 👍👍👍

Did 2 walk tours in Tokyo this trip. Nice way to go a bit more local compared to previous touristy way. We had one Chinese guide who was quite good, spoke good English and a local Tokyo lass who was very knowledgeable. Thank you for taking us on the tours.

We were looking for something different to do in the Tokyo area and found it. We had a fun and informative time with Wakana as our guide through Yanaka. Navigating the Japan Rail system to Nippori took a bit of effort for a Tokyo newbie but it was worth the effort for this very small group tour. The first temple had a nice buddha statue. Lots of info provided about Shinto burial customs. Moved on to a former liquor store now turned museum. Enjoyed seeing the well-preserved traditional housing. The highlight of the tour was the stop at the Nezu shrine, with the azaleas in bloom. Took lots of pictures there.

Junko is a fun and friendly guide for a lazy walk of discovery. I really enjoyed looking at traditional wooden houses dating from before the earthquake and fires that have forced Tokyo to become a modern city. She will answer any question about life in Japan in general also, and our group was curious about religion and prayer rites. For instance I enjoyed visiting the former sake store and seeing the life of a shop keeper 150 years ago. Absolutely recommended.
