By YANESEN Tourist Information & Culture Center.
About
Let's create and design your dream lunch quickly with our friendly cooking sensei(teacher) in the down-to-earth & friendly neighborhood of Yanaka. You will select several popular homely dishes sold in the Yanaka neighborhood, including Japanese-style egg omelets, fried chicken, croquette, etc. To finish arranging your original bento box, let's be creative and make Onigiri rice balls with cute faces and shapes. You will plate all the items in a bento box, and voila! You have your lunch right here! At Yanaka House, you will enjoy eating like Tokyo's locals do. Enjoy your bento over Tokyo-roasted coffee, ko-hi, another house specialty. *If you are on a special diet or food-related issues, please inform us of them when booking.

      Wonderful!! Delicious and fun!!
Amazing! Yuki was a wonderful cooking instructor! We were able to choose our menu ( we chose udon and Japanese pancakes), and Yuki guided us step by step in making them, while explaining the traditions behind what we made. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we left with the recipes so we could make them at home. Yuki”s English and hospitality were excellent, and our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers!), thoroughly enjoyed our lesson and meal. Highly recommend!!!!

Must do activity for food lovers and for those wanting to learn how to cook like a local
This is one of my favorite activities I've ever booked through TripAdvisor, as well as one of my favorite activities I've done in Japan. You will learn about how a typical Japanese family prepares meals with your extremely friendly and well spoken chef, and you'll understand where all the flavors come from in each meal you prepare. You're free to ask questions about where an ingredient comes from, it's origin, why it's added to the meal, and more. The experience itself is very relaxing and enjoyable, and your chef will make friendly conversation during the cooking process. Their coffee is also amazing, it's the best coffee I've had so far in Japan (I've been here for 3 weeks). I highly recommend this activity to anyone who would like to learn how to cook a typical Japanese meal, and anyone who loves food.

Fun hands on experience with calligraphy.
The experience was so much fun. Chie-san was very friendly and patient as she instructed us with writing Kanji characters. By the end of the class she'll have you attempt a kanji character to take home, it's more challenging then it sounds if you don't have practice. Overall, I highly recommend the experience.

      Enjoyed this so much!
This cooking class was so fun and very informative. The teacher is wonderful and it was lovely to learn home-style dishes and about some culture with one to one ratio. The class is designed around individual preferences and you can choose from several dishes to make before the class starts. Highly recommend!
