Fun hands on experience with calligraphy.
The experience was so much fun. Chie-san was very friendly and patient as she instructed us with writing Kanji characters. By the end of the class she'll have you attempt a kanji character to take home, it's more challenging then it sounds if you don't have practice. Overall, I highly recommend the experience.

      Enjoyed this so much!
This cooking class was so fun and very informative. The teacher is wonderful and it was lovely to learn home-style dishes and about some culture with one to one ratio. The class is designed around individual preferences and you can choose from several dishes to make before the class starts. Highly recommend!

      Challenge Yourself with Kanji Calligraphy!
This was everyone’s first time in our group. Instructions were broken down step by step. The hardest part was to keep the brush upright 90 degree angle. Almost had to take a deep breath and focus. A more relaxed approach seemed to create a better kanji character. We really enjoyed this cultural experience! Would highly recommend!

This was a magical experience. My partner and I are experienced home cooks but have never filleted a full fish from scratch before. This class taught us so many new skills that we cannot wait to take home with us. They even helped us customize our menu after we told them about a new dish we had in Japan that we loved. Masa also gave us incredible restaurant recommendations and stories about the best times to visit Japan. So grateful for this truly one-of-a-kind experience! On top of all of that, Yanaka is a beautiful and old area of Tokyo that you can spend hours exploring. Magical!

We highly recommend YANAKA home style cooking class! Hands on cooking experience from a wonderful instructor, Yuki-san who taught us how to clean & cook fresh fish. She also taught us how to make gyoza. Everything tasted delicious! Special mahalo to Masa-san who confirmed our reservations & showed us the true meaning of “aloha”. We look forward to taking another class the next time we visit Japan. Domo Arigato Gosai Masu!🙏

The host Yuki, Masa and Kuni San were really welcoming. The cooking studio is cozy and clean. The class was conducted in English. It was superb and enjoyable for the kids as well as adults. The food we made turned out amazing and the kids thoroughly enjoyed them. We made udone, gyoza and miso soup. Kuni even gave the kids some origami paper to make chopsticks holder. Really well spent afternoon👍

This was such a special way to build memories and fill your tummy. I highly recommend this activity if you have time. Our group of 6 consisted of 3 adults and 3 kids.

They made it so welcoming and fun that all of us were able to interact. Recommend you make an appointment and block off at least 2-3 hours. So, this does take up some time, but there are shops in the neighborhood if you want to get local souvenirs.

Some advice to get to the location. We had to check in at a coffee shop and then they walked us back to the kitchen.

They took pictures and shared it with us at the end. So, no need to worry about missing the moments.

At the end, we enjoyed our bento box and chatted with the chef.

Not only was the experience awesome the food was to die for. Excellent all around!

Amazing! Yuki was a wonderful cooking instructor! We were able to choose our menu ( we chose udon and Japanese pancakes), and Yuki guided us step by step in making them, while explaining the traditions behind what we made. Everything was absolutely delicious, and we left with the recipes so we could make them at home. Yuki”s English and hospitality were excellent, and our family of 4 (including 2 teenagers!), thoroughly enjoyed our lesson and meal. Highly recommend!!!!

This lesson with Yuki was so much fun, Yuki is a wonderful guide to Japanese cooking. The 2 hours went by so fast. We want to come back the next day to learn more. This is an excellent experience and highly recommended. Also the neighborhood is interesting. It has more local feel to it. Go meet Yoki! She’s the best!

Really great experience. I liked how small and intimate the experience was.

We showed up early just in case we got confused on the transit and Masa was waiting outside to help us inside!

We made the gyoza and okonomyaki and our helper she made the instructions so easy and helped explain about the food and ingredients.

They provided green tea and water. It was a great cozy experience and great way to end our trip.
