- 331triciap0 contributionsTokyo tourTomo was an amazing guide. She is truly a gem. We coordinated through the summer prior to my trip to Japan. She coordinated an entire day of activities with me across the city to hit the main points I wanted to see. We covered a lot of ground. She was even kind enough to answer my basic questions I had upon traveling to Asia for the first time. Without her I wouldn’t have been able to see so many beautiful sites on my ownWritten September 9, 2024

- Renee T0 contributionsFantastic guide in Tokyo!!! Great job customizing your plans and her English is fantastic!Ayaka was amazing! We were in Japan for 15 days and Ayaka helped us with the last day of our trip in Tokyo. She met us at our hotel and took us to Turret Coffee, which had strong coffee and was featured in the Michelin Guide. Located close to Ginza at the fish market, it was a wonderful start to our day. We instantly connected with Ayaka and asked for her ideas for planning the day, including the gifts we still wanted to buy before leaving Japan. First, we went to the Meiji Jingu Shrine and were lucky enough to watch a festival that started shortly after we arrived. Ayaka did a great job of "reading the room," sharing what was happening and giving us context, as she had studied abroad in Canada and Germany. Her insights made the experience even more enriching. Next, we visited the observation floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, which offered stunning views of the city. After that, we headed to Harajuku on Takeshita Street, where we bought a couple of t-shirts and a few more gifts nearby. For lunch, Ayaka took us to Afuri for some delicious ramen. Ayaka's help didn’t stop there. She asked about our plans after the tour and provided us with some excellent suggestions to make the most of our remaining time in Tokyo. Her guidance and warm personality made our last day in Japan truly unforgettable.Written September 1, 2024

We appreciated him meeting us at our hotel; it made getting started very easy. Marc showed us the main sights and also took us off the beaten path to some great spots to view the city. He knew where to find great treats and snacks and found a very traditional restaurant for lunch where the udon soup was amazing.Written August 27, 2024

We wanted to spend the day with a local and take a day trip from Tokyo to Hakone. Our goals were to see the old town, the shrine, Mt Fuji and enjoy an onsen. We were staying in center city Tokyo and took the subway to the train station (30 minutes), then we had to wait to take the 1.5 hour train to Hakone, where we promptly boarded a bus that took us on a 30 minute ride to the town of Hakone and the launch to the boat. We waited in line for 20 minutes to ride a 30 minute boat ride across the lake. Once we got off the boat we had to take a tram to the top of the mountain. After 45 minutes on the mountain top looking at Mount Fuji and the sulphur hot spots, we had to turn around and do the same travel to get back to Tokyo. We didn't have time for a leisurely lunch or a visit to an onsen. The scenery was beautiful and we were lucky to have seen Mt Fuji. We heard from many, that they weren't as lucky. On another note, our local host was not what we expected. She didn't seem interested in showing off her area and wasn't very organized.
Maybe we wouldn't have had to wait in some many lines, if she had planned our journey a bit better. I spoke to City Unscripted afterwards and the representative was completely understanding and has offered us more than adequate compensation. Based on their follow up, I will use City Unscripted again, because I really like spending time with a local.
