- G7652ILericp0 contributionsHighly Informative and Fun TourThis was an outstanding experience! Our guide and our driver did a wonderful job of providing a tour that was fascinating, informative, fun, and tailored to our interests. Highly recommended.Written March 22, 2025
- VanessaG5700 contributionsExcellent Day Out!I highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Toshi-san and driver, Tak-san made our day pleasant and educational. We were met on time by our guide at our hotel and whisked away to Kamakura. I appreciated the flexibility that we were given to add/drop sights of interest. Toshi-san was very well read when it came to the history of the areas we visited and his commentary made the visits very special. Lunch was lovely (made more so by the help ordering from our guide). We visited some off the beaten path sights that we had requested as well. The private tour aspect made for a memorable and non-rushed day out. A highlight of our trip to Japan.Written March 8, 2025
- Alison I0 contributionsGreat day out of the citySeiji was fantastic. We got to see everything we wanted and he was super helpful with information about Toshogu. I like that he didn’t pressure us to keep going when we were ready to go and was most interested in doing the pace we wanted to go at. Would highly recommend!Written March 4, 2025

- PatSSN0 contributionsLovely visit to TokyoRecently, we went to Tokyo and had a private tour with our friends with Hiroko as our guide, We found her very helpful and knowledgeable about the city and cultural practices. We were able to see a lot of places in Tokyo in our two days that we spent with her. I would recommend doing this if you’re going with a group. A private car setting gives some flexibility of where we want to spend more time and gave our group more time to spend in exploring the sites rather than being on the subways.Written December 7, 2024
- 637matthewp0 contributionsA must do day trip from TokyoYoshimi and Taiji, you were wonderful and made our full day experience all that much better. You were very accommodating, knowledgeable, and spoke wonderful English. Our daughters really enjoyed the entire day. We highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a day trip out of Tokyo to experience the beautiful nature and culture Japan has to offer.Written December 4, 2024
- 614annei0 contributionsGreat experienceOur guide Ken & driver Taku were great. We were able to cover many sites & experiences in such a short time. Definitely couldn’t have done that on our own. The only negative was the weather as it rained all day. However, even that proved an experience we’ll never forget. Both were very accommodating as we had one person in our party that walked very slowly.Written November 2, 2024

- 611elicial0 contributionsThankful for the time togetherToshi-san was our guide and he was incredibly patient and helpful in building our tour according to our preferences and needs. He came prepared with interesting facts about our locations as he enjoyed the locations with us. He was also super flexible as we made last minute decisions and recommended routes to suit us all. Highly recommend this tour as a way to quickly get around the main spots of Tokyo confidently!Written October 21, 2024
- kerrar110 contributionsOur favorite guide and tour of our entire trip!I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed this tour—and especially our tour guide, Yoshimi-san! If there’s such a thing as a perfect guide, she was it: warm and friendly, knowledgeable and prepared, able to flex on the fly and just an outstanding communicator. She and our equally outstanding driver worked as a team to show us beautiful Nikko on a misty fall day, stopping to explain history and give us lots of time for photo ops of the gorgeous fall scenery. A member of our group even had a food allergy, and Yoshimi-san made sure that allergy was accommodated in the chosen restaurant and snacks. From minute one, we felt like we’d made two new friends in Japan. Arigato gozaimasu, Yoshimi-san!Written October 18, 2024
- Dan B0 contributionsPrivate car tour to see highlights of Kamakura ,Enoshima, YokohamaYuko met us with the driver Tashi at our hotel at the designated time. She did an excellent job sharing Japanese culture as we did our private tour seeing the beautiful island of enoshima, Yokohama , Kamakura where we saw the gigantic bronze statue of Amada Buddha. We had an excellent lunch , saw more interesting sights and ended our day strolling through the very active Chinatown. It was an excellent PRIVATE tour highly recommended.Written October 17, 2024

Highly recommend.Written October 10, 2024

Our day trip yesterday to the Fuji Five Lakes area with Yuko (guide) and Suhi (driver) was outstanding. Both of them went out of their way to make this trip so good - excellent planning, safe driving and great commentary. While the weather was not great we were still able to see and do a lot in the day as requested - and at sunset even some of Mt Fuji made a short appearance! All of the itinerary we did was memorable but we would suggest you definitely choose the Itchiku Kubota Museum, the Fuji Sengen Shrine and Shiraito Falls. The videos at the Mt Fuji Heritage Center were very informative too.

Originally I booked a bus tour to Mt. Fuji region and back, and then I started reading the reviews and questioning my choice. You've probably seen these reviews already - people complaining that their guide skipped certain popular attractions (like the ropeway) without notice because the itinerary was so rigid. If you want maximum flexibility, I highly recommend booking this private tour.
At first glance, there is major price difference between a bus tour and this private tour but IT WAS WORTH IT! I knew we were in good hands when Masae reached out a week in advance to start building our unique itinerary from a list of dozens of options. She provided some common popular items with her own recommendations of must-see spots and was interested in what we wanted to do. She followed up multiple times to ask if we had any additions or changes and she was very helpful in planning our day.
Masae and our driver Tak showed up early at our hotel for pick-up and the day could not have been smoother, and here's why: we got to do everything on our itinerary AND Masae was always calling ahead to check on wait times at attractions. After climbing to Chureito Pagoda for beautiful views, Masae recommended adjustments to schedule because the ropeway lines were shorter than normal. Had we stuck to original itinerary, the wait would have been much longer. This attention to detail gave us more time to sightsee throughout the day.
Masae and Tak found a wonderful lunch spot with regional cuisine that we never would have found on our own. Their knowledge of local shopping spots and markets for souvenirs was so helpful. Masae was an awesome guide and Tak was a great driver and we enjoyed our day with them, and the bonus was Tak had also been taking pictures for us throughout the day and sent them to me at the end of our tour! We have some great casual shots thanks to him! I cannot recommend this tour enough for everything we saw in Mt. Fuji and five lakes region!

Thank you so much for your super awesome review !! Tak & I felt so happy to know we were able to help you enjoy your last day in Japan together with the great assistance of Mt. Fuji, the shy lady. Honestly, your comment and views on our tour that day gave me such motivation to become a better guide. So I'm very grateful !! And thank you for choosing our tour above a bus-tour.

Don’t look anywhere, this is the trip you wanna do!
Our tour with Yoshi around Mount Fuji was truly unforgettable. Her deep knowledge of Japan’s history and culture enriched every stop, from the serene Arakura Sengen Shrine to the breathtaking views at Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Sai. She thoughtfully curated our itinerary, ensuring we experienced the best of the region, including the mystical Narusawa Ice Cave and Aokigahara Forest. Lunch at Restaurant Misaki was a highlight, where she went above and beyond by ordering and even serving us.
Yoshi and driver were exactly on time. The car ride was very comfortable. The vehicle wasair-conditioned, there was water bottles. They help us navigate the ticket counters, queues , long lines at photo ops!! She also made every effort to engage with our kids and answer all their questions. Also, we have beautiful moments captured on camera as a family just because of her.
Yoshi’s kindness extended beyond the tour—she walked us to the Pokémon store in Shibuya, stood in line while we shopped, and even ensured our ride home was comfortable, making the entire experience feel less like a tour and more like a journey with family. We cannot recommend her enough!

Thank you very much for your review. I'm so happy to hear that you and your family enjoyed the Mt. Fuji tour. We were very lucky to see Mt. Fuji that day and the whole itinerary went smoothly. We visited an observation to see Mt. Fuji from the base to the top and explored its underground and beautiful Jukai Forest stretching at the base of Mt. Fuji. Then I was always impressed by how well-mannered your children were and especially pleased that your daughter expressed an interest in writing a journal about Japan! It's nice!
I look forward to serving you all again.

Our family of five chartered a private car for a full Mt Fuji day trip to the Kawaguchiko Lake area. Our English speaking guide was Mazda. This was truly a wonderful experience from start to finish. Mazda was on time with a very comfortable van to pick us up from our Shinjuku hotel at 8:30am. Mazda let us know that the itinerary was flexible as we went along the day. Our initial itinerary included the Mt Fuji Heritage Center where we learned about Mt Fuji and the surrounding region, Fugaku Fuketsu wind cave and Narusawa Hyoketsu ice cave both in the Aokigahara Forest, Saiko Iyashino Sato Nemba which was a japanese countryside village where we got to see ancient Japanese structures, lunch at Konami restaurant to try a local noodle dish called Hōntō, Oshino Ninja village for a wonderful ninja show and ninja class for the kids where Mazda sat with our kids to translate everything to English, Oshino Hakkai where we were able to bottle our own Mt Fuji water and see a natural waterhole near the lake, Arakurayama Shrine for an incredible Mt Fuji view, Oishi Koen park next to the lake to see beautiful lavender and views of Mt Fuji, dinner at a local ramen noodle restaurant, and since we happen to be there for the first day of Mt Fuji hiking we got to see fireworks on the lake.
Technically our tour was supposed to end earlier in the day but Mazda offfered that since we were in the region on a special day with fireworks, he offered to extend the tour into the evening, so long as we covered the incremental car insurance fee of 5,000 JPN which was well worth it.
On the return drive there was rain but Mazda was an excellent driver. At the final stop for restroom, Mazda surprised us with a gift of a local snack. We were returned to our hotel around 10pm.
I highly recommend this service and Mazda is one of the absolute best guides we have ever had abroad. He was wonderful with our kids and always made sure we were having a wonderful time. We are very grateful for this tour thanks to Mazda.

I have read your great reviews with many thanks. Your good reviews would help many travelers to choose the tour. It was a very good chance to see KAWAGUCHIKO fireworks, and many people including other guides say we were very lucky to see MT FUJI under a bad weather forecast and bad weather conditions, it was a kind of miracle.

My family had an amazing experience on this tour! We had some issues with the payment via the website but Mr Endo had kindly reached out before our tour to clarify and worked it out for us.
Our guide Mr Takashi was very knowledgeable about the area, sharing about Japan’s culture and customs, and was extremely patient answering numerous questions from my 6 year old daughter! He was also able to recommend and advise changes to the itinerary based on the time availability and our group profile.
We were blessed with excellent weather where we could admire Mt Fuji in all her beauty the entire day. It was simply breathtaking and the memories of the tour will be kept in our hearts in the many years to come!
Our driver Mr Toshi was extremely professional, and prioritised our needs and safety above his own. He waited patiently for us at every stop and hardly had any food and drink to ensure he does not become sleepy on the road. In addition, my parents left their cap and scarf in the bus without knowing but Mr Takashi coordinated with Mr Toshi who even drove to our next hotel to return the items!
Exceptional service all round from the entire team! This tour is highly recommended for a wonderful day at Mt Fuji!

Dear Ms.Dawn Lin
Thank you very much for the excellent review which you kindly left on Trip Advisor. I have just read all you wrote on their review site.
This is the best review I had ever had throughout my entire career as a tour guide, which cannot be better. It is such an extensive review with detailed descriptions of what each of us did. You must have spent a lot of time writing it and I was deeply moved.
I will share what you kindly wrote with TOSHI. I am sure that he will be extremely happy too.
Once more I would like to say how much we appreciate what you did for us.
I wish also the best for you and your family,
TAKASHI

Thank you Ms.Dawn Lin to have booked our tour and leaving such a heartwarming review.
Although I wasn't able to see you, I can imagine the wonderful time Takashi and Toshi managed to produce for your family and they did a great job from the first move by suggesting making an earlier start and cutting off the bad weekend traffic to maximize your experience.
They both work very efficiently, and really great together.
Please let us know about your next visit to Japan and hope to see you next time.
Warmest regards,
Taiji

Yuko and Toshi were a great team for our day trip to Mt. Fuji from Tokyo. Yuko's knowledge of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding areas was extensive, and she did a great job explaining not just the sites, but aspects of the plants, trees, nature, and geology of the mountain as well. Toshi was an excellent driver, and also had good information to share about the sights we saw on the drive from Tokyo to the Mt. Fuji area. We hit traffic on the way back to our hotel, and Toshi did a great job making sure that we got back safely.
Prior to our trip, Yuko was wonderful at communication to make sure that what we saw would be in line with our interests, as there's no way that anyone can see all that Mt. Fuji has to offer in just one day trip. She was able to put together an itinerary that suited our needs, and was willing to adjust our plans even on the day of the trip.
There are less expensive day-trip options, but we felt that this was great value for the dollar. We're very happy with the experience, and would love to have Yuko and Toshi show us around again when we come back.

My family and I booked the Tokyo Star Agency's private car tour of the Mount Fuji 5-lakes region in early-April (2024). The tour was definitely one of the highlights of our entire vacation. Our guide, Taisho, and our driver, Tak, provided an incredible experience that our family will cherish and remember throughout our lifetime. They were able to accommodate our customized itinerary as well as take us to several other popular and historic sites within the area. The sights were breathtaking, but the historical information both Taisho and Tak provided made everything that much more amazing. It really felt like we were travelling with two close friends. If you have an opportunity to take a tour with them, I would highly recommend it. Thank you again, Taisho and Tak!!!

Mr. Chihara
Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. I'm glad to hear that you had a good time around Mt. Fuji.
Mt. Fuji holds a special significance for many Japanese people who departed from Yokohama Port and headed towards North and South America until the 1960s—it symbolizes their homeland that they would always cherish it. It was my great pleasure to guide you there, and if you were able to feel the essence of Japan or reminisce about your memories, then I couldn't be happier. If you ever plan to return to Japan in the future, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Toshi and Misuzu were our great partners during this trip. Before we hit the road, Toshi ensured to install a car seat for our little boy. The van we used was extremely great with lots of accessories to pud our things on like the multiple cup holders. We were also provided with Mt. Fuji bottled water each and I took one home for souvenir ;-)
They shared a lot of trivias and fun facts about Japan and Japanese culture in between our travel time. Our itinerary was fully done according to our list and Toshi even brought us to Mt. Fuji's secret place. However, the master of invisibility was covered with fogs at the time we arrived. Yet, we also got lucky because earlier that day, the weather was so fine that we were able to get a beautiful picture of Mt. Fuji at Oishi Park and at the Chureito Pagoda. We are superbly happy of their excellent guiding service that we will surely recommend this to our relatives and friends and that we will surely avail of their service again if given the chance to be able to get back to lovely Japan.

This tour was absolutely perfect for us. We only had one day to see Fuji and our guide, Masae, did a great job of showing us both cultural and historic sights with views of Mt. Fuji. She suggested an amazing lunch where we got to try hoto for the first time (delicious). She also went above and beyond, bringing Japanese candy for our kids to try and really learning about what our family wanted and needed. Our driver Kasu was also great— going out of his way to take photos for us and sharing with us. We felt safe the whole time we were in the van, even navigating Tokyo traffic (which is no joke).

We loved our tour of the Mt. Fuji area with our guide Yoshimi. She did an excellent job explaining the cultural significance of the area and the history of Japan. We learned so much from her during our car ride and she continued to provide additional information as we toured the visitor center. She was very attentive to our needs and was very friendly and hospitable. We loved visiting the Shiraito waterfalls and the Ide Sake Brewery. Yoshimi made terrific recommendations for our itinerary and gave us options for our day. We were able to select the ones that best suited our group. Would highly recommend!

Thank you very much for your heartfelt review! We appreciate it.
It's our greatest pleasure to realize that you were satisfied with our tour even though we couldn't see Mt.Fuji because of raining. We miss your lovely family and are looking forward to serving you again!

Hi I tried several times to book with credit cards but it can’t proceed and asked to contact Viator. Can anyone assist me please as I’m already in Tokyo now, isn’t that convenient for me to dial a call back to the customer service.

If we are staying in Hakone can we be picked up in Tokyo with our luggage and then be dropped off at our Hakone hotel? We would like to do many of the hakone sights. Also, for ages 3 and 6, is it full price? We have 6 adults and 2 children. Thanks!

HI, can you fully customise the tour including start time
Do you provide a baby seat for a 6 month old?
Written August 31, 2019
I am the customer, not the service company. You can customize quite a lot the tour. Of course starting time, but depending on what you want to do you need to start 8:30. Regarding baby seat I am sorry but I don’t know

Zahid, they'll ask you where you want to go around Mt Fuji & tailor the tour for your desire. I recommend you ask Tokyo Star Agency direct about the specific destinations, they are very helpful.
