Levy was a great guide and able to change plans with all the corona shutdowns and I mentioned that I was all templed out. We visited a few food places instead and definitely saw some places I never would have found on my own. Got some great knowledge and history on the tour as well

Had a great tour of Osaka with Kevin! We started with Osaka Castle; although this cannot be considered off-the-beaten path, we had not yet visited and it was a good place to start. Kevin gave us some general history regarding the city of Osaka as we wandered the grounds. The rest of the tour was a whirlwind of areas of the city – thank goodness for our subway pass since we were able to hop all around! It was interesting to go to part of the city that we might not have ventured into on our own ranging from the warren of Korea Town to the largest arcade in Japan. The tour was a delightful mix of fresh views of the city mixed with some sampling of Osaka cuisine. Kevin also gave some great guidance for drinks and dinner after the tour.

Dear 729karynh, Thank you for the super nice review of our Half-Day Osaka 4-Hour Off-The-Beaten Track Walking Tour! We admit that Osaka Castle is quite ON beaten path, but it's a must-see, and we do hurry up with some very local follow up spots to keep things more on the local side overall :) Hearing that our guests had enjoyable, memorable times with us makes us so happy. Thanks again.

To get the key fact on the record, Kevin is an exceptional Guide. The tour starts at Osaka Castle, not far off the beaten path for sure, but still an extraordinary site. From there it heads off to a wide variety of locations that are less touristy yet more interesting. Some of the tour through the back streets of Korea town, including sampling some of the more remarkable edibles available there, is really terrific. Anyone looking for a personable guide with an eye towards the interesting options in Osaka will find this an ideal tour.

Dear Bernie M, Thank you for the flattering review! *^^* So happy that the tour lived up to its billing as being a little "off the beaten path". We do of course have to cover the Castle, which is a very worthwhile stop, but then we take you deeper and more creatively into various "real life" parts of the city. Thanks for choosing our tour, and may your future travels be uniformly fantastic!

This tour truly was off the beaten path. Our guide (i forgot his name....I am so sorry) was a native Canadian-English speaker and absolutely wonderful. We had already done a few of the things on the traditional itinerary, so he emended our afternoon ad hoc. Taking the public trains only added to a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend. One of our favorite activities in Osaka!

Dear carpe_itineris, Thank you for the flattering review! We are proud to provide our guests with fully trained, honestly native or fluent English speakers. But happiest of all is that you clearly came away from our tour really liking Osaka!! Thank you :)

We had a wonderful experience with pinpoint travel. We booked a tour and requested to have Kevin Riley as our tour guide. Kevin Boynton was amazing and worked hard in arranging everything so that we could have Kevin Riley as our tour guide. Kevin Riley was a very enthusiastic, fun and entertaining tour guide. We were able to see tons of sights and ate some amazing okonomiyaki!

The cost for this tour was $90AUD per person - plus approximately 800 yen for additional trains etc around the city. So around $100 AUD for me in total.
I don't think there was much off the beaten track about this tour and the tour ran over time - this in part was because the guide told us all to get off one of the trains at the wrong stop. This was despite one of the group telling him it was the wrong stop before we got off. He then offered the guy who warned him a complimentary drink - which was nice of him - but also a bit rude cause we were all inconvenienced by this. Not that I would have taken the drink offer but he probably should have extended the offer to the whole group who were inconvenienced by this.
The tour guide seemed a genuinely nice guy so I feel bad writing this but he didn't really manage the group or the time well. We spent a lot of time waiting for the same couple of people to either take ridiculously long toilet breaks (15 minutes at one point) - or come back from buying their food etc. Sorry it is a four hour tour (which from memory stretched to 5 hours due to the above issues) they should be catching up to the group if they are lagging behind for personal reasons.
The highlight of this tour for me was when we got to the running man - not at all off the beaten track as practically everyone who goes to Osaka seems to do this according to instagram but it was the most exciting part of the tour and also signalled the end of the tour.
If it was $50 AUD I would think it was maybe worth it, but for $100 I could not recommend this tour as I am unable to find the value.

Dear brettystar and lamsaj, Though you made a single reservation as a couple but decided to write reviews independently, repeating much of the same, I'll just address both of you in one reply. To be honest, I'm not sure why you have it out for us. It is very hard for us to tell customers to use the bathroom quicker (customers tend to react quite negatively to us telling them to "catch up" because we have no time to wait for them to use the toilet), and it is even harder for us to make the rain stop. The fact that your tour stretched to five hours is, to me, a sign of how much we care about showing people what they've been promised. Many tour outfits habitually end their tours significantly *earlier* than advertised. When we speak of an "off the beaten track" tour, we don't mean it in the strictly literal sense. We are also referring to the types of information you are provided at each stop, and also what paths we take and little sights we see at these stops. At any rate, at least you guys liked the Running Man, which is an icon after all. We make no promises of going to the top of the Harukas building for the 1,500 yen view, so it's not a "cheat" as one of you put it. Frankly, the view is really just about as good from the where we check it out, and it's faster to do it that way too. To lamsaj, just as a reminder, you were not on the evening tour (as you said), but rather an afternoon tour. Whether our tour provides good value is, naturally, a completely subjective affair. But I suggest that you knew exactly what kind of value it was going to be before buying, since we clearly state that we don't pay for transportation, entrance fees (of which there are actually none, so I'm not sure why you mentioned that..), or food. We can't please 'em all, that's for sure! I hope your future tours in other cities go better for you two.
